When your office feels like a cozy living space, it helps make works feels less.. work-y.

I never saw the sense in having a whole room furnished only for weekday use. If an office is furnished comfortably, it makes a great second living space on nights & weekends when the office is “closed”. It can be a cozy spot to curl up with a book, a gaming room for the kids, or your own private TV room for HGTV, Lifetime, Hallmark, or whatever else we might want to watch that he doesn’t..

Its Friday! Which always means I went shopping. 🛍️🛒 I did site to store pick-up with these hurricane lanterns and honestly, I was not expecting them to look this good! They came out so pretty, and since it’s all Walmart, the price is super reasonable. Use them indoors or on the front porch or patio!

My mom always taught me to buy once and buy good. Quality over trendy has served me well over the years. For example, my console table. I purchased it from Pier 1 Imports for my very first apartment after I graduated from college in the late 90s. It’s solid pine, and I loved it and have dragged it with me to 2 apartments and two homes since then.

So, splurge on the good stuff once in awhile. Because it’s worth it and it will last. And, maybe you’ll still have enough left over to buy yourself a seasonal Starbucks drink 😉

My island is a small but mighty workhorse. It’s only 3’x5’ but it works for us. With 2 kids in college and only 1 left home, it’s the perfect size for the 3 of to eat at. (when my older kids are home we eat at the table). On Friday nights, we roll out the dough for pizza nights on it. When we have a big crowd, we pull the stools out and use it as a big buffet station. With a little decor, a cozy throw, and my favorite (10 year old) wooden stools, it’s both pretty and functional.

Another snowy weekend. Looks like I’ll just have to enjoy a snowy Saturday in my PJs with a good book. Should I simmer a pot of chicken soup or a beef stew?
