A recent shot of our primary bedroom styled dresser. This dresser was a refinish project inspired by the gorgeous Pottery Barn Sausilito dresser. I painted it to look like wood and changed the hardware. I recently added this curved white vase with artificial snowball hydrangeas I found on Amazon and a set of blue shagreen stacking boxes from Target. Here are a few simple bookshelf styling tips I keep in mind when I’m refreshing our shelves. And if you’d like the full step-by-step guide, you can read it on my blog at rachellorrainehome.com I usually start by layering a basket or two on the lowest shelf for hidden storage and visual weight. Then I place my larger pieces—like pottery or framed art—to anchor the space. If I use artwork on one shelf, I try to stagger another piece diagonally so they aren’t stacked directly on top of each other. I also pay attention to shape. If there are lots of rectangular objects like books or frames, I’ll add in something rounded—pottery, a bowl, or a sculptural object—to bring balance. I like to think in groupings, where a few pieces live together instead of being spread individually across a shelf. Think: – a vertical stack of books with a bookend – art with something layered in front of it – a pair or trio of pottery in different heights And finally, I love mixing old and new. A few antique books or vintage finds alongside pieces from Wayfair or Target add character and a sense of story. Living Room Shelf Styling ✨When styling our shelves, I love to mix elements that balance one another—something woven or textured paired with ceramics or smooth, shiny metals. That contrast is what keeps a shelf from feeling flat. I also love thrifting books with beautiful colored spines to stack and layer. Amazon Bathroom Organization Favorites 🛁 These are several organizers we use that help our primary bathroom flow a bit better—from acrylic drawer dividers and under-cabinet solutions to decorative countertop storage for everyday essentials in our apothecary jars and acrylic shelves that free up counter space. Our sorting laundry hamper was a recent add, and it’s made such a difference. Being able to separate lights from darks means I can grab exactly what I need on laundry day. Still not over the transformation these additions made in our bathroom! 💙 The light blue curtains instantly elevated the look, while the remote-controlled bamboo shades completely changed the function of the space. Classic white kitchens never go out of style 🤍 We wanted ours to feel warm + timeless, so we layered in wood barstools, engineered wood floors, wicker accents, warm metals (brass cup pulls + copper decor), and contrasted it all with black quartz countertops around the perimeter and a marble look quartz for the island. For finishes, we chose satin-glazed subway tile for the backsplash and polished nickel for the plumbing fixtures — including the bridge faucet + pot filler ✨ Our inset cabinets are color-matched to Benjamin Moore White Dove, which is also our wall color, for a seamless look. We bought our wooden counter stools at a local warehouse 4 years ago, so I don’t have an exact link to purchase online, but I’ve found some that look identical as well as a few that give a similar look without being exact. You can browse them all below. I love wooden barstools to warm up a white or light kitchen 🤍 They also contrast beautifully with darker painted islands. They’re kid-friendly since you don’t have to worry about upholstery and are generally easy to wipe down. Amazon Kitchen Picks That Feel Designer & Timeless ✨ It’s giving Williams Sonoma vibes… just way more budget-friendly. 😉 I pulled together some elevated kitchen tools and smart storage solutions that make everyday cooking feel a little more special—without the high price tag. There’s definitely a copper theme happening—copper finished measuring cups and spoons, copper utensil holder—I love that warm, vintage look because it adds so much charm. Still on the lookout for real copper pots to hang in our kitchen (apparently no one wants to part with theirs 😅), but until then I’m happy with my copper-coated favorites. Also the spice drawer with glass labeled spice jars and plastic labeled storage make for happy cooks. Our plastic storage was discontinued so I linked the closest I could find. And lastly our kitchen battery powered lamp makes for a cozy work space! I’ve wanted a wooden console table on the large wall beneath our stairs for years. I loved the look of the high-end designer versions like the Henn Console & Colter console table, but they were usually $1,000+ and too deep, cutting into the entry path. I was so excited to find this one and the same style, 63” long, and with a much slimmer depth. It fits the space perfectly! Now I’m excited to move toward styling it ☺️✨ A quick note: this isn’t solid wood, so if that’s a deal-breaker, just know that going in. That said, it arrived in great shape, and the wood veneer is a near match to our white oak floors.
