When you have expensive taste but not an expensive budget…. These @wayfair nightstands instantly looked classier with these lion head drawer pulls I found on @amazonhome

I searched so long for a wide nightstand to fit this big wall, but they were all so expensive! So I found this black one from Wayfair, changed the pulls, and the end result has it looking like an antique!

If you decide to do this, you’ll need flat washers to secure the new drawer pulls, which I also have linked from @loweshomeimprovement

Even though I don’t really have the terrain for a vegetable garden, I searched high and low for the most affordable container gardens.

I stained it with a food safe wood stain to help seal the wood.

Here’s how to make the juiciest chicken you’ll ever have that will have your guests thinking you’re a chef! Comment “chicken” for the link to the best thermometer ever invented.

Ingredients:
- Whole chicken
- Potatoes (golden or medley)
- Carrots
- Celery
- 1 Onion
- 1 Lemon
- Avocado oil
- Spices (Salt, Pepper, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Thyme, Rosemary)
- 4-5 TB Butter (Must be room temperature)
- Bone Broth
- Better than bouillon (optional)
- Flour or Tapioca flour (For the Rue)

1. Take chicken out of the fridge 1-2 hours before roasting so it comes to room temperature for even cooking.
2. Prepare veggies by chopping in 2 inch pieces. Toss with avocado oil and spices.
3. Spread evenly on roasting pan.
4. Dry chicken with paper towels
5. Prepare the herb butter.
6. Spread butter underneath the skin and on top of the skin.
7. Stuff chicken with 1 lemon & tie the legs together with butchers twine
8. Top with salt & Pepper
9. Insert thermometer

To cook chicken:
1. Roast at 450 for 10-15 Minutes.
2. Then turn down to 350 and continue roasting for 20 minutes per pound. I had a 4.6 lb chicken, so I cooked for a total of 1 hour and 45 minutes (this includes initial roasting time). Cook until the chicken is at least 165 degrees internally. Mine creeped up to 169 degrees after resting and it still turned out juicy!
3. Let it rest for at least 10-15 minutes to retain juices.
4. Put veggies back in the oven on a low broil to crisp up for about 5-10 minutes.
5. Make a rue with butter or flour. (If your gluten free, just use tapioca flour)
6. Pour all the pan drippings in a pot and whisk to thicken. Add the bouillon and extra spices if needed(Do not add salt until AFTER you taste test.) Squeeze lemon in the gravy and over the veggies.
Enjoy!

How to repot a succulent!
Snake plants don’t die easily unless they’re overwatered since it’s a succulent! So I knew I had to get in the soil to see if there was any root rot.

- Root rot looks like brown mushy roots and sometimes stink. They’ll be a distinct color difference between the rot and healthy roots
- Always use the right soil! Never use heavy soil for succulents as it will hold too much moisture. I found this annoying at first but succulents need a well draining soil.
- Use clean and disinfected tools. That’s why I disinfected the pot since the infected organisms can transfer easily.

We consume microplastics in many different forms, but if I can consciously choose to NOT cook with them, it’s better than living in ignorance. You can reduce the amount of plastic and it gets easier when you focus on the small choices, which add up over time.

Many people are saying wooden boards harbor bacteria and mold. The truth is, some woods are naturally antimicrobial and if you clean and dry them properly, there shouldn’t be huge issue. My stomach is able to breakdown wood better than plastic. You can always pop them in the oven at a low temperature or leave them in the sun to sanitize if you’re worried about bacteria. I’m sure there are better wood boards out there made without chemicals, and I’m choosing to focus on the small wins of slowly switching to better sustainable choices.

Glass and stone apparently has a risk of leaving shards of glass or metal in your food…
