Loxley is currently in her strawberry era so this little strawberry slicer has been getting used constantly in our kitchen 🍓 You just drop the strawberry in and press down and it slices it perfectly every time. I finally gave these boring builder-grade bifold doors a makeover and I’m honestly kicking myself for not doing this sooner. This DIY door upgrade completely transformed the space using masonite board, simple trim pieces, flexible rope molding, and leftover Barista paint from my pantry makeover.

If you’ve ever wanted to make cheap bifold doors look custom, this is such an easy project. I used liquid nails and small finishing nails to attach the trim and flex rope molding, then added these beautiful brass handles to give it a vintage European look. The rope trim detail makes the doors look like custom millwork and adds so much charm and character to the room.

This is one of my favorite budget-friendly home upgrades because it turns standard closet doors into something that looks high-end and architectural. These solar wall lights might be my favorite backyard glow up yet. They come with mounting screws, but I didn’t want to drill into the masonry on our wall… so I used Gorilla Glue thick double-sided tape instead and you guys — they’ve been up for over a YEAR. Through heat, wind, all of it.

You can literally put them anywhere. No wiring. No electrician. No cords. And at night they look completely hardwired — like we planned it that way from the beginning. 🤎

It’s one of those small details that makes the whole backyard feel finished and cozy and honestly kind of high-end. Backyard magic without the commitment.

I’ve been drooling over all the vintage limestone water troughs people are turning into garden fountains—they’re stunning, but also wildly expensive. So when I spotted a lonely Styrofoam cooler in the garage, I thought… why not try to make my own?

I used Quikrete Vinyl Concrete Patcher (applied by hand like frosting), gave it an aged, old-world look with watered-down paint (Loxley helped with that part 🥹), sealed it with Flex Seal, and added a copper pipe for that extra charm.

It’s giving vintage French countryside on a shoestring budget—and it’s the first little step toward my dream of creating an old-world cottage garden right here in Arizona. Just the beginning. 🌿

I’ve been wanting to stain this kitchen beam for FIVE years… and a random Pinterest pin finally pushed me to stop overthinking it and just do it.

I started with a white pickling wash, layered espresso stain over it for depth, matched the corbels, and used an aggressive amount of painter’s tape to hold everything in place while it cured 🙃

This pantry makeover is still one of my favorite DIYs from 2025. I started by adding 3D-printed arches to the doorway to create an arched pantry entrance — no power tools required, which made this feel very approachable. I chose a warm, moody brown paint color (Barista) and used an affordable paint sprayer to get a smooth finish. Adding LED shelf lighting completely elevated the space and gave it that soft, layered glow.

For styling, I printed custom pantry labels, added glass canisters, rattan hanging baskets, bundles of homegrown herbs, and a little artwork to bring in that cozy European, French-market feel. This is such a great example of how small architectural details, lighting, and thoughtful styling can totally transform a pantry into a space that feels intentional and beautiful.

This is a paint kit that makes a door look like real wood — no replacing doors required. Color I chose was pickled Oak.

The first coat is a base paint that actually has real wood particles in it, which is why it looks so realistic.

Then you go in with the glaze layer. You do have to work fairly quickly, but you brush it on and can either leave subtle brush lines or use a faux wood-grain tool to create the most insane, realistic grain.

I highly recommend taping off sections so each panel looks like its own piece of wood — that detail makes a huge difference.
Once it’s done, you seal everything with a matte clear coat for protection.

I’ve had this on my door for about six months now with zero chipping, which honestly surprised me in the best way.
You can also use this on cabinets, and one day I really want to try it on a garage door.

Save this if you’re looking for a budget-friendly kitchen countertop makeover. These Calacatta Viola marble contact paper countertops gave me the dramatic, old-world stone look I wanted without the cost or commitment of real marble.

This is one of my favorite renter-friendly kitchen DIYs because it’s completely removable. If I ever change my mind, I can peel it off or switch it out for a different marble look contact paper down the road — no demo, no mess, no regrets.

I get asked all the time how this contact paper countertop has held up. I’ve had it on my coffee bar countertop for about a year and a half, and in the rest of my kitchen for around six months. It’s held up extremely well. There are a few light scratches and small dings from everyday life, but nothing major.

I didn’t even caulk around the sink, and the adhesive is strong enough that nothing is peeling — even with constant water splashes. If you’re on a budget, in a rental, or just not ready to commit to real stone, this is such a solid DIY kitchen upgrade.
