A vanilla fragrance is gonna get me every time! I came across Vanilla Aura by Maison Asrar while perusing the perfume sites last week. The notes sounded promising so I figured it was worth a try for less than $40!

-Top: bergamot, lemon, lily of the valley
-Mid: caramel, vanilla, chocolate
-Base: amber, sandalwood, tonka, vanilla

I’m actually really impressed with this fragrance. At the time of this post, I’ve been wearing it for a few hours and have already received 3 compliments (2 from strangers, 1 from husbae)! I already knew I was smelling good, but who doesn’t love a fragrance compliment? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Yesterday we had our monthly book club meeting to discuss Everybody Ain’t Your Friend by Tanisha Stewart. This book is an “urban suspense” novel. This one was different from a lot of the books we read. It was based around a young woman who finds herself in lots of bad relationship situations.

Overall, it was entertaining, but definitely not a book that I had to read. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t have finished it if it weren’t for my book club. The ladies in our club rated this book between 0.5 to 7 out of 10 and averaged about 4 out of 10 rating. My personal rating was a 3.

Although we didn’t love the book, we still had a great time meeting up to discuss. We actually were still able to have real conversations that were applicable to us even though we couldn’t relate much to the characters in the book.

We met at Oxford Exchange in Tampa, Florida which is a place that I have loved for a long time. The food and drinks were delicious as always!

Does the perfect vanilla exist? I think it does in Indult Tihota. This fragrance is an oldie, but a goodie and I think it is still very relevant in today’s fragrance space.

The notes on this fragrance are pretty simple: Tahitian vanilla, cane sugar, almond milk accord, tonka bean, white musk, and amber. Sometimes simplicity is all that you need.

Amouage Existence is getting all of the love right now, and I agree, it is beautiful. To me it is a sweet, soapy floral with beautiful touches of incense. I’ve only tested this from a sample, but on my skin, this comes off very loud. On my day of testing, I did a spray on each arm and ended up having to scrub it off because it felt too strong to my nose. It felt like the type of floral to give me a headache. I do think it smells beautifully addictive though.

Upon smelling Existence, I was immediately reminded of Parfums De Marley Valaya and I decided to try it with Amouage Guidance to see how they compared. To me this combo is pretty close to Existence. I still think Existence is much more soapy and a tad more sweet, but this combo didn’t give me a headache so this is going to be my Existence. 😂

Layering like this is my way of de-influencing MYSELF! I’m NOT saying that this fragrance (or any) is not worth it, but my collection is huge and I don’t need to keep buying EVERYTHING. If you want to see more of these in the future, let me know!

I’m sure most of you know that Amouage is one of my favorite fragrance brands so when I saw @ share this layering combo, I had to try it!

I enjoyed wearing this combo and although I used 3 fragrances, I never felt like it was too much perfume! It was nice, but it didn’t beat out my favorite layering combo that features Amouage Love Delight layered with Parfums De Marly Althair. Thank me later!
