Brass, green, and a whole lotta heart.
Cesar’s bathroom is getting the glow-up he didn’t know he needed—with a little help from yours truly and a whole lot of Lowes runs. We leaned into dark academia vibes with SW Rosemary on the walls, warm brass finishes, and a mix of classic textures that feel both masculine and timeless.
It’s a little vintage, a little moody, and very much him.

Let’s just say…this is not your ‘80s builder-grade bathroom anymore.

Things I’m loving

#LTKHome #LTKSeasonal
This isn’t the full reveal… but it does show one of my favorite views in this space.

I’m 99% finished. The full colorful closet reveal is coming soon. All I need is something to frame my little quilted heart for the gallery wall, and somehow that feels poetic and very me. After months of wallpaper, paint, trim, and second guessing… it comes down to a heart.

If you scroll back, this started as a dark, narrow hallway. No windows. Just a pass through space that didn’t feel like it belonged to anything. I wanted to turn it into my dream colorful closet, but with a long footprint like this, I wasn’t sure how much it would actually give me.

Instead of relying on one paint color, I layered color through two different wallpaper patterns. Pattern on the walls. Pattern on the ceiling. To keep it cohesive, I painted the wood the exact background color from the ceiling wallpaper. That choice grounded the whole room and let the patterns feel collected rather than chaotic.

There’s no natural light in here, so I added a frosted glass door to borrow it. Yesterday the light poured in and it felt completely different. Today it’s gray and flat and I’m glad I caught it when it was glowing. You can swipe to see how this hallway renovation evolved over time.

Did I know it would land exactly like this? No. Renovation rarely follows the first plan. The space answers back. It tells you what works, what doesn’t, what fits your life. And somewhere between vision and reality, something more personal takes shape.

Full reveal coming soon. Just waiting on a frame for a quilted heart.

If you’ve ever looked at a bed with stripe, floral, plaid, and thought “this should not work”… here’s what actually makes it work.

A few real-life tips:

• Keep the color family tight. Even if the patterns are different, the tones should feel related. Nothing random.
• Change the scale. Small stripe. Bigger floral. Softer, more open print on the bench. If everything is the same size, it starts fighting.
• Let symmetry calm it down. Matching lamps and tables do a lot of the work so the fabrics can have personality.
• Anchor it with something solid. Wood, trim, simple walls. You need a visual exhale somewhere.

Layering isn’t about adding more just to add more. It’s about knowing when things are speaking the same language.

That’s usually the difference between “busy” and “collected.”

#ad I’ve been wanting to refresh this bathroom, not by redoing everything, but by being more intentional with the details.

Updating the faucet, mirror, and bath hardware made the space feel more cohesive and considered. These are the kinds of changes that don’t scream for attention, but quietly improve how a room functions and looks every day

I used Glacier Bay from The Home Depot for pieces that feel timeless, reliable, and easy to install. A reminder that thoughtful design doesn’t always require a full renovation.

✨LIBRARY REVEAL ✨
From dining room… to catch-all… to finally a library.
This space is done, and I’m really proud of it.

The light in here throughout the day is so good. It feels inviting and cozy, but also calm. It’s a space we actually use. A place to sit, read, talk, and yes, nap. Whether you’re a person or a pup.

Getting here took time. This room has been in progress since 2022, and there was a lot of work, a lot of figuring things out, and plenty of moments where it felt slow. But it’s been worth it. I’m learning how to enjoy rooms once they’re finished instead of immediately moving on, and that’s gotten easier as our family naturally settles into how the space is used and where we gather.

The goal was simple, calming, and livable. Nothing fussy. And this past holiday season really showed me how well this library works for us in every way.

Never! Since we’re on the topic of yellow… I cannot stop thinking about it. Truly. When a color keeps tapping you on the shoulder like this, I’ve learned it usually means you should listen. I mentioned it in my bedroom post, and here I am again, still circling back to yellow like it’s a personality trait.

I know some of you said yellow can feel stimulating, and you’re not wrong. But I think the right shade of yellow paint, paired with the right neutral, can feel warm, happy, and surprisingly calm. Less highlighter, more morning sunlight. Also, if I’m being honest, I just really want to paint something yellow.

So while I wait for paint samples to arrive so we can swatch and overthink every option together, this room did its thing. It went from “eh” to “I love this” and now feels layered and lived-in.

Yellow has been pulling me in since 2022. I always thought it would be too much for a bedroom, so I kept it in small doses. The rug, the pillows, the drapes, a throw or two.

But honestly… I’m still thinking about yellow.

Green is a great, calming color and it also happens to be my husband’s favorite, which explains why we have a lot of it throughout our home. Since green is already well represented, part of me is wondering if this bedroom is where I take a thoughtful step toward yellow. Very intentional. Very controlled. Probably.

I did yellow in my office and don’t regret it one bit. I kind of wish I’d done yellow in the office closet too, which feels telling.

So now I’m curious. Does yellow belong in a bedroom, or should it stay as an accent?

Talk me in or talk me out of it. Are we team yellow?

I almost didn’t do a recap. It felt unnecessary, or like I didn’t have enough to show. But mentally, I needed the reminder that progress was made, even when it didn’t feel obvious at the time.

2025 felt slow while I was living it. Looking back at the before and afters, I realized how much actually happened.

This is just a recap of projects that were started and finished. I’ll share a more personal, non-project reflection of 2025 in a separate post. For now, here are some of the bigger ones:

• Fully painted exterior with replaced siding and proper window trim
• Fauxyer finished and used every single day
• Primary bathroom remodel complete
• Upstairs guest bath painted (yes, it’s green) and done
• Designed and helped flip a house with @tacticalbuilders, including a small-budget kitchen
• Designed and built the fireplace at the flip house
• Created a sanctuary bathroom for C, fully his vision
• Finished the guest bath linen closet after way too much procrastination
• Wrapped up a primary bedroom makeover for the buyers of our old house

Maybe it didn’t feel fast or exciting in the moment, but a lot moved forward. Sometimes you don’t see progress until you stop and look.

🛁🫧An old bathroom linen closet that was honestly doing the bare minimum… and also looked like it was never finished to begin with.

When we moved in, I did everything I could to ignore this closet. It worked, technically, but it always felt rough and forgotten. I finally decided to give it a quick, affordable refresh using what I already had, and it really didn’t take much.

Here’s all I did:
	1.	Painted the inside Matchstick by @farrowandball so it coordinates with the bathroom wallpaper and feels intentional.
	2.	Wallpapered just the back wall using leftover LINNEA Garden Green by @sandbergwallpaper . One panel makes such a difference.
	3.	Replaced the shelf using half-inch plywood stained with Walnut gel stain by Minwax, then added a simple false front from half-inch by two-inch red oak hobby board left over from my closet build.

Nothing fancy. No full remodel. Just a few small changes that made this once ignored closet feel finished and actually useful- and so pretty. #casasconencanto #homeinspo #wallpaperdecor
The Classics never go out of style

#LTKSeasonal #LTKHome #LTKHoliday
Even though this room doesn’t look like this anymore, I still love looking back at photos of it dressed for Christmas. The blue never really grew on me long-term, but the way it photographed during the holidays felt so magical in the moment. I toyed with the idea of curtains in here so many times, and looking back at this version makes me feel like I might bring one back again someday. Not functional, not sliding. Just a single panel on one side for a little softness and nostalgia.

#christmastime #bedroominspo #holidaydecor
Which version of this room would you choose for Christmas, the deep blue from two years ago or the lighter room today? Two Christmases ago this space was wrapped in moody blue and candlelit glow. Now it feels softer and brighter, reflecting a very different season of life. The lighter room is our most current and this year our holiday decorating will be minimal, just small touches here and there. Things have been heavy and some days are harder than others, but we are still choosing gratitude in the middle of it all. Tell me your favorite. There is no wrong answer. 🤍

✨✨WELCOME TO THE FAUX-YER REVEAL✨✨
From the moment I saw this space, I was stuck. I knew it had potential, but I couldn’t figure out what it needed to feel right. This wasn’t an overnight project; work on this little corner started back in summer 2022. And yes, I lost sleep over it more than once.

Year by year, it was just little bits of progress… choosing paint, finding pieces that felt like they belonged, collecting art that looked like it had always been here. Even now, I’m still waiting on that last bamboo shade (because of course one always goes missing 😅).

What I really wanted was for this odd little spot to feel like it was meant to be part of the house a space that feels collected and storied, not modern or misplaced. And finally, it feels intentional, like it belongs to the age of this 1930s home.

2 1 I think I’m SLIGHTLY panicking. I have two weeks to find what I’m gonna wear and I’m still missing two outfits one more pair of bottoms. (Possibly two depending on the linen pants) and 2-3 tops. In my research, it says to bring three pairs of shoes, comfy sandals, comfy tennis shoes, and a chunky sandal or heel for fancy nights. I haven’t found the fancy sandal/heel but I do have two pairs of sneakers and a comfy walking sandal
