I love finding modern substitutes for classic games. Chutes and Ladders has its place, but there is no opportunity for players to use critical thinking or strategy. This is the first thing I look for in games for my kids. I love when players have the chance to make decisions and have agency in how the game progresses. In the Chase Game, you’re not just hoping the spinner moves your character up the ladders to the 100th space while your opponents find their way down the chutes, but rather you’re thinking through each characters’ movement and strategically using your cards so that you score the most in the end! Yet it still remains quite easy to play for young players!
