Decorating our entryway for Christmas is one of my favorite slow December routines.

Last year, it was the very first space I decorated in our “new” house, and ever since, it’s felt special to me.

As a military family, we don’t always have guests coming and going, but I still want our home to feel warm and welcoming, for us, and for anyone who does walk through the door.

This year I pulled out familiar pieces, added a new candle, warm lights, and a few simple touches that make home feel cozy in December 🤍

I’m learning that cozy homemaking isn’t about perfection or buying new every year. It’s about creating spaces that feel lived in, loved, and ready to welcome real life.

Vlogmas Day 8 ✨

Tonight was our cozy, perfectly imperfect tree-decorating night. I hung a few paper stars, tucked the tree skirt into place, and then let the chaos and magic unfold as the kids took over.

They came in and out throughout the evening… hanging ornaments at their own pace, swapping spots, trading stories, and adding their favorite pieces with some of the sweetest memories.

It’s never magazine-perfect but it’s ours.
And honestly? That’s the part I want to remember.

Paper stars, barefoot kids, ornaments all clustered on one branch, and this warm, ordinary kind of Christmas magic at home.

This year my oldest even took the initiative and brought out the ladder to reach the top of our tree!

Vlogmas Day 6 🤍
A slow day at home meant making my comfort drink of the season, a cozy peppermint latte.

I’m still fighting this sinus infection, so something warm and a little sweet felt like exactly what today needed. The house was actually quiet while the kids played outside and I sipped my peppermint latte by the Christmas tree while nursing the baby.

Cozy Peppermint Latte Recipe:
• Brew your favorite coffee or a double shot of espresso
• Add 2 pumps Hollander Dutch chocolate sauce
• Add Torani peppermint syrup or a few drops of peppermint extract (stronger flavor & my go-to)
• Froth your milk and pour it in
• Top with crushed peppermint.

Adjust everything to taste, more chocolate, more peppermint, whatever feels cozy to you. ✨

Sometimes the smallest moments, like a warm mug on a sick day, are the ones that bring the most comfort.

My big kids handed over their Christmas lists without hesitation, but my 4-year-old wasn’t quite sure… so we took a little Target trip to see what actually speaks to him this year. 😂🎄

We grabbed Starbucks at the entrance (as one does), wandered the toy aisles, and let him explore without any pressure to choose. The things that caught his eye? Monster trucks, a bike, and of course… a trampoline. 🤣

These little trips have become a favorite of mine over the years, letting them browse, explore, and dream up their own kind of Christmas magic.

And now that I know what he’s loving, I’ll be keeping an eye on our local Facebook Marketplace and other sales this season.
