When we moved, we were coming from an Airbnb and I was so anxious to make our house feel like a home. I convinced myself a 10x14 would work in our space. At that time the couch was opposite the fireplace and the 14’ length worked for a couch plus end tables. Since then, I’ve rearranged and the couch now runs with the width of the rug. 10’ is not long enough for a couch and two end tables. The next rug size is 12x15 which is HARD to find. I also think 15’ of any print would be a lot. I found this seagrass rug at Target in that size!! I found this gorgeous blue wool rug to layer on it. It is lighter and brighter than the rug I previously had in the space. This opened up my options to bring in wood tones which I think are a necessary element in any room. Bonus to layering is that you get to size down in the expensive rug! I’m still editing this room and I have already added table lamps and wood tones.
