They say you should never meet your heroes in person, but what happens when you grow up with one? My mom was a single mom of three most of my childhood and worked endlessly to provide for us as well as make life beautiful. She had been a seamstress before she had us, giving her a great eye for quality and style in both fashion and decorating. On weekends we would hop in the car and travel to museums and go to antique stores. So much of what I love today was a gift she gave me through her limited time and money with the intention of opening our eyes to a whole world beyond our home. It’s hard to put into words how much I love and appreciate my mom, and I doubt I’ll ever find the right ones to share.
