Hola y’all! Welcome to #TheFernandezHomestead ❤️❤️ I have been channeling my inner @joannagaines and searching for the perfect home decor items with a little little Spanish and farmhouse flair! Before we moved in, I had this whole vision of how I wanted to decorate our new home. Of course farmhouse decor was top of the list but I wanted to mix some Spanish touches in there too. So, I’m going for a whole southwestern farmhouse feel and once I get everything in place, I can’t wait to show y’all!
.
BUT, I wanted to show y’all our welcome mat that I have been waiting patiently to arrive! I have always loved welcome mats bc I feel like it sets the stage for your home. I pray our new home to be a place filled with laughter, memories and southern hospitality. If the walls could talk, I would want them to echo the sound of little feet running down the halls. I want them to tell stories of family game nights & Christmas morning excitement. I would want them to whisper the melodies of soft Christian music that we play every Saturday morning and I would want them to shout “ Love lives here! ”
.
I want our guests to come as they are, kick off their shoes, grab a glass of sweet tea (or margarita 🤷🏻‍♀️) and enjoy the peacefulness of the farm! Because, well life is just better on a farm ❤️

I have to admit I woke up a little discouraged today.. yesterday Ben and I put in an offer on the most beautiful home and after eagerly waiting by my phone to see if it was accepted we found out that the sellers are not making a decision until SATURDAY! 😩
.
At first, I started to get super frustrated bc 5 days feels like an eternity, the House is already at our max budget and there are no other offers yet with it being on the market for 9 days. Then I started to doubt that we weren’t enough.. I felt like the fearful girl waiting on the side lines to only be picked last for the game... To say I went to bed with a heavy heart and a racing mind is a understatement.

This morning, I still held a little anger in my heart and I felt it escalating the more my mind filled with images of the house.

Then there in the midst of making my coffee, I felt God whisper something to my heart.. surrender. My word for 2018. A word I haven’t really been good at fulfilling so far. I grabbed my coffee, curled up in a comfy spot and just sat in the silence soaking in the morning sun through the window.

Today, I’m going to try my hardest to surrender. Surrender the earthy desires of my heart, surrender my anxieties, surrender my discouragement, my fears and lack of patience. I’m going to sit in His promises and remember that his timing is perfect. I invite you to do the same 💗

Speaking of Mom life... if you are a mom (or even if you’re not), you NEED these jeans in your life! If you saw my insta-stories the other week I raved about some high waisted jeans that I purchased and they were hands down the BEST jeans I have ever owned. I loved them so much that I ordered 3 other pairs in different washes 🙈 Seriously, I’m obsessed! They are buy one get one half off right now too 😱 (of course I missed that sale 🙄)

These first few days of 2018 have been a period of reflection and planning for me. I took time to really pray about my blog and just my daily life in general. If I’m being honest, I have a REALLY hard time letting go of control. I like things a certain way and if I am around chaos I get SO stressed out. I like neatness and order and everything scheduled out.
.
Needless to say my world has not been organized since Emery came along. My schedule has been all over the place and let’s not even talk about the hot mess situation that is my house 🙈
.
I have found myself so frustrated and then feeling guilty about being frustrated... So, I decided these past few days to really pray for a heart change. I have prayed and reflected on a word I wanted to hold tight to for 2018 and this morning it came to me—— surrender.
.
You see to surrender to Jesus is to surrender EVERYTHING. I want to surrender my time, my energy and my heart to SERVE both Jesus and others. I want to truly put others, my friends and my family before my self and not get stressed out in the unplanned.
.
So, coming in 2018, I’ll be rebranding my blog to create a community, a support system, an inspiration and really spilling pieces of my heart and Journey with the Lord. I want to establish relationships, be authentic & tansparent and just be real on this platform.
.

Well, today I turn 28! 😱 WOW, where has the time gone!? FUN FACT.. I was born the last day of the 80’s.. I always tease and say I barely made it lol!

I started a new nap schedule for Emery today and girl slept SO WELL! So this momma curled up on a spot on the floor (my couch is covered in unwrapped Christmas presents haha) and actually enjoyed her coffee today! 😱💗

So yesterday Emery successfully took her first nap in her crib.. she didn’t even fuss when I put her down and as I walked out of the room she smiled this big old grin right at me as her eyes started to close...
I stood in her room a little longer and just watched her sleep and I’m not gonna lie, I felt a little ting in my heart bc she is growing up so fast. I may have even shed a tear (okay.. I cried for a good minute 🙈)!

But her next nap, I was the big baby and let her sleep on me.. Because well, I love her cuddles and naps on momma are just better 💗 especially when she has on a soft sweater! (That is currently HALF off ($17))

I remember the days where I could sit quietly in bed sipping my hot coffee and just soaking in the silence of the house...

This morning, after heating my coffee in the microwave for the 3rd time, I was ready to sit down and enjoy it while Emery nursed. Instead, Emery started crying and as I held her over my shoulder to soothe her, she decides to projectile spit up right in my coffee cup that was sitting on the counter 😩😂

Y’all, If I’m being honest, I’ve been really distant from the Lord lately. I’ve been in a season of transition.. my daily schedule is up in the air & I’m learning how to be a mom. It’s been really hard some days, I have to admit.

There are some days that I feel completely inadequate and not good enough.. I hate feeling that way but I’m only human and sometimes we have to give ourselves grace.
So, if you’re a new momma like me, or if your in a season of crazy transition where you feel distant from the Lord, im here to tell you you’re not alone. But I also wanna remind you that you are human and no one is perfect.. so give yourself a little grace 💗
