HALF BATH UPDATE
A few months back, I decided it was time to add some character to this half bath.

The vision started about a year ago when I popped into HEB and fell in love with some of their western decor. 🤩

I wanted some PVC accents for the long wall so we can hang pool towels without worrying, because this bathroom is off of the back patio and easy access for our pool days/parties.

Ryan did great adding the accents and then graciously stripped and painted the cabinet this last week— a chore he swore he wasn’t going to do. When we got everything else together, though, he quickly commented that it’d look better with the black cabinet and therefore obliged.

SAVANNAH’S NINTH CABANA
If you know me, you know I love a party theme and celebrating my favorite people!

When Sav requested a pool party, I immediately thought retro Palm Springs Cabana vibe and why not a dirty soda bar?!

We had Hawaiian food, a beautiful cake from our favorite @bittersweetwaxahachie, had the infamous Saran Wrap/mitt ball of treats, and everyone went home with a cabana goody bag.

While she said it was her favorite party yet, the best thing was the quality time and memories we got with friends who are like family!

When your kid wants a pool party in the dead of Texas summer, you finally install misters so that everyone can feel more comfortable in the backyard.

Truly this was a fairly easy install and cost under $175 making the backyard far more usable in the Summer. We wish we did this sooner!

SWEET GINGERBREAD!!
I’ve waited years to make these gingerbread yard decorations.

With one 4’x8’ insulation foam board, paint, rope, hot glue and a few other supplies/ornaments, these 4ft tall gingerbread came out to under $50 for the set!

They were a super simple DIY with our Ryobi hand tools!

HOLIDAY SIMMER POT MIX
Do you have leftover fruits from Thanksgiving? Simmer pots are my favorite way to reuse them. I made a dozen packed simmer pots for about $2.50/each— a great gifting idea!

For the simmer pot mix I sliced apples and oranges to about 1/4” with my mandolin and laid them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. I similarly cut cranberries in half and laid them on a parchment lined baking sheet. I then placed them the baking sheets in the oven at 200°F for about 4-5 hours and turned the fruit every hour.

This was 2 large oranges, 3 apples and about 1/2 a bag of cranberries.

I then divided the dry fruit amongst some bags and added 2 cinnamon sticks, 3 star anise and about 7-10 cloves. Each bag then got a cute bow and a sticker.
