With one 4’x8’ insulation foam board, paint, rope, hot glue and a few other supplies/ornaments, these 4ft tall gingerbread came out to under $50 for the set!

They were a super simple DIY with our Ryobi hand tools!

Toddler Room Makeover
It was time to move Brennon from his crib to a big boy bed. While our initial plan was to use the conversion kit we had for his bed, let me tell you it was poorly engineered and I certainly didn’t care for the damage I knew it’d do to my shins. It may have come over the budget planned as we ran out to @livingspaces for a new frame, but this is more the lol I wanted anyway— something timeless that could grow with him and that matched the room. Enter some new artwork (cars— his favorite!!!) and no more decals, and a fresh coat of pain to match the other color we’ve used throughout the house, and in a weekend we quickly accomplished a “big boy room”. Wish me luck that sleeping in this new bed goes well tonight!

HOLIDAY SIMMER POT MIX
Do you have leftover fruits from Thanksgiving? Simmer pots are my favorite way to reuse them. I made a dozen packed simmer pots for about $2.50/each— a great gifting idea!

For the simmer pot mix I sliced apples and oranges to about 1/4” with my mandolin and laid them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet. I similarly cut cranberries in half and laid them on a parchment lined baking sheet. I then placed them the baking sheets in the oven at 200°F for about 4-5 hours and turned the fruit every hour.

This was 2 large oranges, 3 apples and about 1/2 a bag of cranberries.

I then divided the dry fruit amongst some bags and added 2 cinnamon sticks, 3 star anise and about 7-10 cloves. Each bag then got a cute bow and a sticker.

Each year for their birthdays, I try to select a photoshoot idea that will allow us to capture the kids’ personality and/or passions. My hope is that years from now it’ll help us remember each phases as they grow.
I managed to capture some videos as we spent the afternoon at our local vintage soda and ice cream shop taking photos of Savannah as she finished her 8th trip around the sun— I loved getting the childhood innocence, her love for mint chip, and yet her sass all in the shoot.

Can’t wait to see the photos!!
