let's have a moment of appreciation for this pretty corner of the kitchen at this #dwelloctoberstudio project. with little natural light to speak of, this kitchen always felt dark and cramped. the combination of the dusty blue walls and white stone countertops really brightened up the space by reflecting the natural light from the skylights above. a stone ledge over the sink makes the workspace feel more open and airy, while a gorgeous sconce adds drama and function. #dwelloctober

we're taking a closer look at the details with this #dwelloctoberstudio project. this condo is the perfect combination of historic character and modern style. what's your favorite element? #dwelloctober

when updating the bathroom at this #dwelloctoberstudio project, we were inspired to convert the tub/shower unit into a walk-in shower with a dramatic arched entry. we selected a bold Calacatta Viola-inspired large format porcelain tile for the shower walls and a deep plum hexagon mosaic tile for the floor. brushed gold plumbing fixtures and a fixed panel of curved glass add the finishing touches to this luxurious shower. #dwelloctober

this condo features incredibly high ceilings with amazing woodwork from the building's former life as a church. in order to highlight the volume of this space and show off its full potential, #dwelloctoberstudio painted everything a dusty shade of blue and added a custom-made metal ladder that allows access to the loft space above the door. with the addition of the ladder, the loft space can be used for storage or display, and adds a fun and interesting design element. #dwelloctober

it's time for a kitchen close up at this #dwelloctoberstudo project! the kitchen footprint was limited, so we kept the same cabinet layout, but updated it with new @ikea boxes combined with beautiful curved cabinet fronts from @fronteriors. to make the kitchen feel more luxurious, we used a boldy veined quartz for both the counters and the backsplash, opting for a full-slab backsplash with a ledge above the sink. #dwelloctober

let’s get to work…but first, a snack.

the living room at the #dwelloctoberstudio project has the most amazing light thanks to the combination of the large sliding doors, transom window, and skylights. it also features unique woodwork where the organ was located during the building’s former life as a church. to showcase the incredible volume of this space, we drenched the walls, woodwork, and ceiling in the same blue gray paint color used throughout the rest of the condo, then added a statement-making fan to serve as the center of a conversation area. #dwelloctober

#LTKHome

in contrast to the bright and airy bedroom space, #dwelloctoberstudio went with a moodier feel for the en suite bathroom, using deep plum penny tile for the floor, a Calacatta Viola-inspired tile for the shower walls, and a rich wood vanity. brushed gold plumbing fixtures and accessories add more warmth to the space, while caned doors camouflage a utility closet. #dwelloctober

new #dwelloctoberstudio project alert! we’re excited to share the finished photos of this condo renovation in downtown Salem. the design of this project was inspired by a Parisian apartment, so when the bedroom lacked storage, we added built-in wardrobes using @ikea boxes fitted with DIY cane doors. we painted the cabinets the same soft blue color as the walls, ceiling, and trim to give the room a chic feel while bringing some much needed light into the space. organically-shaped gold knobs add the finishing touch to these functional and beautiful built-ins. #dwelloctober

#AD we're excited to shine a spotlight on the appliances used in our most recent #dwelloctoberstudio project, a church to condo revival in downtown Salem. when sourcing the appliances for this kitchen, we opted to order from @Lowe's because they carry Forno, one of our favorite appliance brands. our goal with this project was to create a chic, Parisian apartment-inspired design featuring moody colors and luxurious materials and these appliances from @Lowe's definitely delivered. we have always had great experiences ordering appliances through @Lowe's. Their website is easy to shop for in stock appliances that ship quickly and the delivery process itself is always smooth. #LowesPartner #dwelloctober

#AD it's time to reveal the transformation of the #dwelloctoberstudio church to condo revival balcony! we teamed up with @Lowe's to convert this underutilized space into an outdoor oasis just in time for spring. all of the products we used are available @Lowe's and prove that it's possible to create a chic outdoor space when working with a limited budget. when designing this space, we were inspired by a neutral striped outdoor rug and used it as the backdrop for a cozy seating area featuring a black metal bistro set. next, we introduced a lot of greenery into the space using cement-look planters filled with an olive tree, rubber tree, as well as a railing planter with boxwoods and candytuft flowers. rattan lanterns and black-and-white geometric throw pillows finish off the space with a cozy feeling. #LowesPartner #dwelloctober

located off the main hallway, the guest bathroom at the #preppyhollowhouse was an interior bathroom, meaning that it had no windows and therefore, no natural light. as a result, we aimed to create a bold and bright design full of color in order to give the space a playful personality. we opted for green penny tile on the floors and simple white field tile on the walls, but used coral grout to make a statement. brushed gold plumbing fixtures, a console sink, and a wavy wooden wall mirror give the space a colorful, cheerful feel. #dwelloctoberstay #dwelloctober

#AD we're excited to kick off a new #dwelloctoberstudio project, a church to condo revival, where we'll be refreshing a historic one bedroom condo in downtown Salem that was originally built as a church. as this renovation is on a tight timeline in order to capitalize on the busy spring real estate market, we're planning to use @Wayfair products for the redesign. @Wayfair has such a wide variety of home improvement products in stock and ships with lightning speed! for this project, we were inspired by a chic Parisian apartment and are planning to use rich, moody colors, dark wood tones, and brass accents. today, we're sharing our design for the bathroom renovation, which will include large format marble-look porcelain wall tile, plum hexagon mosaic floor tile, a dark wood vanity, and brushed brass plumbing and lighting fixtures. stay tuned to see how the renovation turns out! #Wayfair #WayfairPartner #dwelloctober

while we love a classic blue and white color scheme, one of our favorite tricks is to introduce a third color to keep things from feeling too on the nose. inspired by a beautiful hydrangea print wallpaper from @riflepaperco, we created a custom shade of green paint to use for the trim, doors, and even some of the furniture in the primary bedroom at the #preppyhollowhouse. wide plank white oak hardwood floors and woven wood window shades add natural texture to the space. #dwelloctoberstay #dwelloctober

one of our favorite things about designing short-term rentals is the opportunity to make bolder choices than when designing homes that we live in everyday. for the kitchen at the #preppyhollowhouse, we opted for bold coral cabinets, then added subtle green and white star-patterned cement backsplash tile, and brushed gold plumbing fixtures. we love the cheerful, welcoming feeling this combination creates and hope it sets the tone for a fun vacation as soon as our guests walk through the door. #dwelloctoberstay #dwelloctober

we love this sweet little corner in one of the guest rooms at the #preppyhollowhouse. a coat of coral paint transformed a vintage reeded cabinet into a perfect storage spot for guests. a brass and smoked glass mirror coordinates with the metal pulls on the cabinet and white hydrangeas add a classic Cape Cod touch! #dwelloctoberstay #dwelloctober

#AD birthday season is around the corner! we don't know about you, but we have a lot of birthdays to celebrate this time of year. we love this adorable birthday cake pillow and crown from @OEUF LLC. one of our favorite things about Oeuf products is that they are made with high-quality, sustainable materials, like this 100% alpaca yarn, and feature beautiful craftsmanship. these products will stand the test of time for years to come, unlike disposable party supplies.

it may be cold and snowy out here in New England, but we are dreaming of warm summer days spent at the #preppyhollowhouse, enjoying a classic Cape Cod summer. when updating the exterior, we removed the small deck on the back of the house and replaced it with a brick patio perfect for outdoor dining and grilling. we also switched out the existing sliding glass door for a regular exterior door, which allowed us to gain a bit more storage space in the kitchen. the private backyard offers plenty of space for outdoor games. #dwelloctoberstay #dwelloctober

when designing the bedrooms at the #preppyhollowhouse, we wanted to give each room its own distinct personality, all while maintaining a cohesive look throughout the house. we chose to use the same green trim paint in each bedroom, but selected different wallpaper for each space. the colorful striped wallpaper used for this room reminded us of sunny days spent playing croquet or tennis. a vintage faux bamboo bedroom set balances out the pastel colors and grounds the space. #dwelloctoberstay #dwelloctober
