can’t believe it’s (almost) been a year 🥹

I took my time settling in, but I really feel like it’s all coming together these last few months. Amidst the chaos, heartbreak, and struggles the past year this truly has become my cozy little escape. I’ve found solace in making it truly mine when everything outside the door felt so overwhelming.

isn’t it amazing how a little trim and double sided tape can totally change the vibe? I hate the look of a big empty window, but just a few pieces of trim and some double sided removable foam tape later and I’m pretty obsessed with how it looks now ❤️

Small things that helped me fall back in love with getting dressed⤵️

~ finding inspiration that was exciting, but also felt attainable and utilized things already in my closet

~ focusing on building outfits, not just buying exciting stand alone pieces. A flashy set can be tempting to run out and buy, but learning recipes for how to mix basics is way more helpful in the long run

~ Experimenting! Setting aside time to try out different outfits without feeling rushed. For me that was Sunday mornings - I could take my time putting together a cute little outfit before I headed to the farmer’s market without the stress of a time crunch.

~ thrifting most of my clothes has given me a way to try out new styles without making a huge financial commitment. Sometimes something just doesn’t work, but I don’t need to feel guilty I spent a ton of money or created new waste just to experiment

~ time! For me, loosing my connection to my style didn’t happen overnight, and finding it again didn’t either. If you feel like you’re trying to get back in touch with that side of your self, give yourself time and patience

I’m definitely finding myself grabbing more “classics” lately. Pieces I can see myself keeping for years and years and styling a million different ways.
~ A good rain jacket (in a classic chore-style)
~ Baseball hats, both for the look and also always good to have a little extra sun protection
~ Denim/Blue oversized button-down. Perfect for layering or throwing over a bathing suit
~ a crewneck sweatshirt never really goes out of style, does it?

I have always had a tendency to *really* overthink art.

I never feel like it’s good enough. The frame isn’t right, the art is weird, the mating is all wrong!

This week I was tired of the big blank space above my bed and decided to just start hanging (I could always change it later anyway) and suddenly the whole room felt 10x better.
