Small things that helped me fall back in love with getting dressed⤵️

~ finding inspiration that was exciting, but also felt attainable and utilized things already in my closet

~ focusing on building outfits, not just buying exciting stand alone pieces. A flashy set can be tempting to run out and buy, but learning recipes for how to mix basics is way more helpful in the long run

~ Experimenting! Setting aside time to try out different outfits without feeling rushed. For me that was Sunday mornings - I could take my time putting together a cute little outfit before I headed to the farmer’s market without the stress of a time crunch.

~ thrifting most of my clothes has given me a way to try out new styles without making a huge financial commitment. Sometimes something just doesn’t work, but I don’t need to feel guilty I spent a ton of money or created new waste just to experiment

~ time! For me, loosing my connection to my style didn’t happen overnight, and finding it again didn’t either. If you feel like you’re trying to get back in touch with that side of your self, give yourself time and patience

I’m definitely finding myself grabbing more “classics” lately. Pieces I can see myself keeping for years and years and styling a million different ways.
~ A good rain jacket (in a classic chore-style)
~ Baseball hats, both for the look and also always good to have a little extra sun protection
~ Denim/Blue oversized button-down. Perfect for layering or throwing over a bathing suit
~ a crewneck sweatshirt never really goes out of style, does it?

I have always had a tendency to *really* overthink art.

I never feel like it’s good enough. The frame isn’t right, the art is weird, the mating is all wrong!

This week I was tired of the big blank space above my bed and decided to just start hanging (I could always change it later anyway) and suddenly the whole room felt 10x better.

The blue velvet was calling my name🤌

I know certain things really freak people out to thrift, and couches are definitely one of them. Tbh I’m pretty picky when it comes to pieces like this and was originally planning on buying something new, but I completely fell in love!!

They were also SO clean. My aunt used to have a couch she kept covered in a plastic protector 24/7 (anyone else have family that did that??) and I have to assume that’s how these were so pristine. But of course I still gave them a super deep clean too 🙃

Blue velvet sofas - yay or nay???

peanut butter hedgehogs 🦔

What I love about these is how simple and easy they can be to make. While you definitely can make them from scratch, you can also use ready-to-bake dough and store bought icing to make these for a last minute super cute treat!

Step by step:
* Shape peanut butter cookie dough into triangles on one side and rounded on the other, flattening a little before baking.
* Bake per recipe or box instructions and allow to cook fully
* Melt 1 cup of chocolate chips (you can use neutral oil to thin out the chocolate a little bit if it’s too thick)
* Dip the rounded end of your cookies in the melted chocolate and tap off excess. Then dip into solid mini chocolate chips. Allow to cool on wax or parchment paper.
* Create eyes and a nose using just a few dots of black cookie icing

I still can’t believe it’s real 🥹

Yes, our bathroom renovation has been in the works for TWO YEARS 🫣 but it’s officially DONE!! And boy has it been magical to get to shower in such a beautiful space. It’s truly everything I imagined it could be when we first dreamed up this project.

Will be sharing more on the full process soon, but I just couldn’t wait any longer to share with you guys!!

The house we made : the sunroom ☀️

Added on in the 70s or 80s this sunroom addition never felt truly connected to the rest of our 1930s home. Plus, the construction quality was pretty poor. By the time we bought our house a lot of the wood (both on the walls and the actual floors) were pretty severely warped from sun damage.

I know some people will *love* the vibe of the original (we ruined it!) but to me, having a sun room that’s bright and welcoming (and not literally falling apart) brings me so much more joy than the dark cave-like room it was (but if you like caves, that’s totally cool too 🤷‍♀️)
