All in the Details: Continuing our look at “Sleeping Beauty,” the ethereal, fairy-tale bedroom we created for the 2018 Kips Bay Decorator Show House, we’re taking a closer look at the details. Antiques and treasures from @carltonhobbs, our Ojai Stripe and Santa Barbara Ikat fabrics for @schumacher1889, and layer upon layer of blue and white give the room its collected character. It’s the personal touches that make it feel truly lived in: stacks of books and magazines, cigarettes at the ready, and a rotary phone within arm’s reach.

Porcelain flowers by @vladimir.kanevsky bloom against the custom hand-painted celadon garden wallpaper from @graciestudio, bringing the room’s dreamlike story to life. Beautiful, comfortable, and entirely personal, because the smallest details often tell the greatest story.

The perfect peacock blue? “Vardo” by @farrowandball is the closest we’ve found. Lacquered for added depth and shine, it sets the tone in this study just off the primary bedroom. Rich paisleys and suzani motifs complement the softer room next door, while bone-inlaid tables and a collection of inlaid wood boxes bring warmth and texture. Proof that the right color can transform a room into a world of its own.
