November Menus

By mealandgrace

What we ate during November 2025.

Leftover Thanksgiving sourdough sandwiches for brunch and Lily is making @simplified game day chili that will simmer for dinner.

We are finally putting up the Christmas tree, and I am ready for the glow of the lights to make the whole house feel softer.

What are you having today? I hope your Sunday finds a little comfort too.

Gracefully yours,

I started the morning with fried eggs and toast because it sounded good and it felt like the right kind of simple for today.

We will head to the Christmas lighting and parade later. I love seeing the lights come on for the first time each year. It always gives me that little spark that says the season is really here.

I will bake sourdough too. Herb looks ready and I have been wanting a warm loaf all week. There is something about fresh bread that makes the whole day feel cozy.

What are you having today? I hope something comforting finds you.

Gracefully yours,

It is a slow day after Thanksgiving and the kitchen finally feels calm again. Brunch will be a choose your own situation. Toast, oatmeal, eggs, cereal, a bagel. Everyone can pick what sounds good and make it when they are ready.

Dinner will be the mini leftover Thanksgiving puff pastry pies. Warm, golden, and exactly right for the days after the big feast.

Dessert will be the pumpkin cheesecake with the gingersnap crust and the spiced brown sugar whipped cream. We were so full on Wednesday that we did not have room to eat it, so today feels like the right day to finally start it.

What are you having today? I hope your Friday feels gentle after a full week.

Gracefully yours,

Happy Thanksgiving 🍁 (swipe left for slideshow)

Herb roasted turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, cranberry pecan stuffing, homemade green bean casserole, dinner rolls, and Jo’s mom’s cranberry sauce. For dessert, a pumpkin cheesecake with a gingersnap crust.

Inspired by Julie and Julia, I’m cooking my way through Magnolia Table Volumes 1, 2, and 3. I’m calling it The Jeanie Jo and Joanna Project. Recipes 126 & 127 of 457 are the Green Bean Casserole and the Pumpkin Cheesecake, and here is how they turned out.

The green bean casserole was creamy and savory with a crisp topping that stayed light on the fork, I am sure to start placing these homemade fried onions on everything! The pumpkin cheesecake set beautifully with a smooth, velvety texture and the warm spice of the gingersnap crust in every bite.

Today will be a light leftover day while I start prepping for our Thanksgiving tomorrow. Brunch will be the leftover mushroom gruyère quiche and dinner will be the leftover creamy chicken poblano soup.

A pelican was enjoying its time on the lake this morning (see stories) and it reminded me why I love the Gulf Coast so much. Last night we had a tornado watch which is one of my least favorite parts of living here. The contrast always makes me smile a little. Calm lake mornings and wild weather nights.

I will post a reel for our soup later today, I will catch some Thanksgiving happenings in my stories tomorrow, and I will be back on Thursday to share my leftover ideas.

What are you having today? I hope something gentle finds its way onto your table.

Gracefully yours,

The turkey is thawing in the refrigerator and it is just under five pounds. Since Chad has a twenty four hour shift on Thursday, our Thanksgiving will be on Wednesday. I want to rub it down with butter and herbs and let it sit overnight before it goes in the oven. It already feels like a short week.

It is the first Monday of Thanksgiving break, so brunch is fend for yourself. Cereal, toast, eggs, oatmeal, a bagel. You pick it. You make it. Everyone seems happy with the freedom of it.

Dinner will be my easy no leftover stovetop tuna noodle casserole. It is simple and always hits the spot without creating a mountain of dishes.

We had concessions at the theater yesterday and had no room after the soup for dinner, so Lily and I will make the holiday bark this afternoon. I am excited for us to try it.

What are you having today? I hope your Monday feels gentle and easy.

Gracefully yours,

I had a hard time sleeping last night. The upstairs neighbors were up late again and it reminded me why moving back to the PNW in a house feels like the right choice for us. I am tired but the day still holds some good things.

Brunch will be the mushroom gruyère quiche in a homemade tart shell from Magnolia Table Vol 2. Dinner will be the creamy chicken poblano soup from the same book. Warm and steady meals for a day that started slow.

For a snack tonight, Lily and I are making the S’more the Merrier holiday bark. I did the Zoom class yesterday with @mommailena and @officialmodernprairie, Melissa Gilbert’s project, and it was such a fun experience. I am looking forward to making it with Lily. We will put the bark together after we go see Wicked: For Good. Yes, I am seeing it again. I cannot wait for her to experience it.

What are you having today? I hope you find something small and sweet in your Sunday.

Gracefully yours,

A productive Saturday ahead. We are heading to storage for the Christmas decorations and then watching the first Wicked movie to get ready for tomorrow’s theater showing. I cannot wait for them to see it so I can finally talk about it.

Brunch will be a cinnamon raisin bagel with peanut butter and vanilla yogurt. Simple and easy.

Dinner is my mac and cheese with a side of raspberry chipotle meatballs. The mix of the white cheddar and the raspberry chipotle is astounding!

Dessert will be warm chocolate pudding because that is the kind of comfort a Saturday night deserves.

What are you having today? I hope something easy and cozy finds its way into your weekend.

Gracefully yours,

I cannot express in words how I feel about Wicked: For Good. WOW. Bring Kleenex and run, don’t walk, to go see it. I am still thinking about it this morning.

Brunch will be finishing the leftover French toast custard on simple white bread. Dinner will finally be that Margherita pizza we brought home from Trader Joe’s. It has waited long enough.

It is the last day of school before Thanksgiving break and the whole day already feels lighter because of it.

What are you having today? I hope you get something cozy on your plate to start the weekend right.

Gracefully yours,

Good morning from a bright, sunny island. It is way too hot for November and the air felt almost summer-like when I stepped outside.

Last night’s errands somehow turned into an impromptu date night on the seawall. I ordered an apple mule that I now want to recreate at home. Chad had BBQ ribs and I had a plate of Fish & Chips that pulled us right into talking about Ivar’s and all the food we miss from the Washington coast. It turned into one of those easy conversations about the things we want to do when we finally get back there.

Brunch today will be a pumpkin spice bagel with yogurt. Dinner will be pierogies so I can cook only what is needed. Lily is at a friend’s house, so I will be ready whether she comes home hungry or not.

The big thing today is Wicked in theaters. Chad is on a forty eight hour shift, so I am going by myself this afternoon. I will see it again on Sunday with Lily and Chad because I have waited almost a year for this movie and I am not holding back.

What are you having today? I hope something fun or comforting finds its way into your Thursday.

Gracefully yours,

The fog was so thick this morning it felt like the whole island was still waking up with me. The clouds settled in and the humidity made everything look like it rained even though it didn’t. The yard, the porch, even the air felt damp.

On my drives to take Lily to school this past week, I kept seeing a large ship sitting offshore. Last night Chad told me it is bringing sand in to help rebuild parts of our beaches.

Brunch today is French Toast from Magnolia Table Vol 2 using the leftover French Bread I made on Sunday. I will be using my cast iron since it lives on my stove and always gives the toast the right texture.

Dinner will be just the two of us since Lily has choir practice at the church. We will finally get to enjoy that Margherita pizza I picked up at Trader Joe’s on our visit last month.

Dessert will be simple. Blue Bell Dutch chocolate ice cream. I did not grow up with Blue Bell and it has surprised me. I think I am falling in love with it. 🫶🏻

What are you having today? I hope something good makes this Wednesday feel a little special.

Today at the table: a cinnamon–raisin bagel with peanut butter, leftover Friendsgiving casserole with holiday cranberry sauce, and leftover French silk pie.

And while I eat my way through these leftovers, I’ll be planning our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. This year I’m using Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Journal holiday recipes (not part of the Jeanie Jo & Joanna Project, just because I want to).
