We knew we wanted this space to work just as well for a house full of friends as it did for an ordinary Friday at 5.

By placing the bar just off the mudroom, it’s one of the first spaces we walk by when we come home. It makes hosting feel effortless as guests naturally gather here, drinks are easy to grab, and the kitchen stays a little less crowded. But honestly? We love it just as much on the quiet weekends. Walking in after a long week, setting down the work bag, opening a bottle of wine, and easing into the weekend has become one of our favorite little rituals.

If you’re planning a renovation, don’t overlook the spaces that support how you actually live. Comment SHOP and I’ll send you links to my entire outfit (I’m obsessed with this dress) along with sources for this space!

Did you catch one of my latest finds? These new coastal cushions are the chicest mix of pattern, texture, and that perfectly muted blue that feels collected rather than coastal cliché. They add just enough interest to make the whole space feel finished, and I truly can’t get enough of them.

Comment SHOP and I’ll send you the links. Available with or without the insert!

Blue is basically a neutral around here… and this pillow is all the proof I need.

The pattern is timeless, the texture adds just the right amount of depth, and the size makes it easy to layer on a sofa, accent chair, bed, or bench. It’s one of those pieces that instantly makes a space feel more collected without trying too hard.

Not a blue person? You’re in luck, it comes in several other colors, too.

My little loves Halloween deeply, but when it comes to seasonal decor, I still want our home to feel timeless, collected, and like us. That’s exactly why I turned to @birchlane when planning this year’s decor.

I don’t believe you have to choose between creating Halloween magic for your kids and having a home you love. Instead, I recommend layering in heirloom-quality décor through the spaces you use every day—from festive breakfast moments and candy bowls by the door, to cozy candlelit corners and little surprises waiting to be discovered. It’s thoughtful, elevated, and still full of all the fun.

I love that Birch Lane’s classic style for joyful living makes it easy to find pieces that feel beautiful now, and are worth bringing out year after year. The quality is incredible, and every detail feels intentionally made for real homes and real family traditions.

If I’m being completely honest, I half regret this tile. But, there’s a lesson here.

Not because the peel-and-stick tile isn’t good. It actually exceeded my expectations. The quality is incredible, it looks like the real thing, and it did exactly what we needed while we save for a full mudroom renovation.

It confirmed that marble just isn’t the right fit for this space. Between sandy feet, muddy paws, and all four seasons being tracked through this door, it only takes a couple of days before it starts looking messy. And that’s not the first impression I want people to have when they walk into our home.

Honestly though, that’s exactly why I don’t regret doing it entirely. Instead of spending thousands on permanent marble, we spent a fraction of the cost and learned something really valuable before making a forever decision. That’s a win in my book.

When we eventually renovate this room, we’ll be going with brick tile instead and I feel so much more confident in that choice because of this little experiment.

That said, I would absolutely recommend this tile for a laundry room, bathroom, or other lower-traffic space. It’s beautiful, easy to install, and an amazing budget-friendly option.

A home doesn’t have to feel untouchable to be beautiful.

The spaces I love most are the ones that feel collected, layered, and actually lived in! The kind where fresh flowers wilt, cookbooks stay open on the counter, and every piece has a purpose. To me, that’s what makes a home truly wow-worthy.

Follow along as I share how I create spaces that are both elevated and livable. And if you’re curious about anything in my kitchen, comment SHOP and I’ll send all the details straight to your inbox.
There was a time when I thought the best investment was always the next trip, the next experience, or the next thing.

But the older I get, the more I realize that home is where so much of life actually happens. It’s where we start slow mornings, host the people we love, celebrate holidays, build routines, weather hard seasons, and make the ordinary feel a little more beautiful.

If you’ve been looking to refresh your own home to truly make it a place you want to come back to, I hope you stick around.

This was one thing I couldn’t wait to source.

When it came to our bar, I knew I wanted hardware that felt timeless, not trendy…like the bar was always here. By choosing this brand, I knew I wasn’t just investing in quality craftsmanship, but in the flexibility to mix and match styles while still creating a look that feels collected, cohesive, and designed to age beautifully over time.

It’s one of those decisions I’m grateful I didn’t compromise on. So, my answer is always I would choose this hardware again and again!

If you’ve been considering making the investment, I can honestly say it’s been worth every penny. Comment SHOP and I’ll send every source for this space straight to your inbox!
I gasped when I saw this sample of the best blue tone and thin stripe pattern! Every time I walk into this space, I am struck by its charm.

This is the winning window treatment combination. The timeless stripe and woven shade (with blackout options, might I add!) give that highly designed feel, for low effort. They are currently part of the up to 60% off sitewide sale with code MEG 🤍 Comment SHOP for links to both!

My favorite hour in this little dining nook.

The light gets softer, the room feels quieter, and everything slows down for a minute after a packed day across all things.

Sunday swap ✨ I didn’t buy anything new for this corner, I simply shopped my home.

Swapping in a woven side table and a different throw added the depth this space was missing. It’s proof that neutral doesn’t have to mean boring. The magic is in the layers.

As you look to finish your own home, just keep in mind that the most inviting homes feel collected over time, lived in, and deeply personal…not perfectly styled.

Magnolia home coastal cottage finds for. Traditional style home
Not every room has to be your forever room. Truthfully, we’ve barely touched our living room, and I’m okay with that.

We know this space will eventually be part of a larger renovation, so instead of pouring money into a design we’ll likely change, we’ve been intentional. A fresh coat of paint, a few affordable furniture finds, layered textures, and thoughtful styling have been enough to make it feel calm, inviting, and aligned with the rest of our home.

I think there’s a lot of pressure to make every room “finished,” but sometimes the smartest design decision is creating a space you genuinely enjoy today while leaving room for what’s next.

This room may not be my dream living room yet, but it’s where we gather, unwind, and make memories. And for this season, that’s more than enough.

If this space inspires you, comment SHOP and I’ll send over all the sources. 🤍
The biggest shift in mindset made this room. Once I stopped worrying about whether everything coordinated, and focused on depth with intentional nods back to one another, it completely transformed.

For years, I thought I had to choose: dark woods or light woods. Warm or cool tones. Woven textures or stripes. But the rooms that always stopped me in my tracks had one thing in common, they mixed it all with intention.

Now my bedroom feels full of life because I gave myself permission to bring together every material, pattern, and color I genuinely love. Dark woods, light woods. Woven textures and stripes. Warm and cool tones. It all belongs when it’s thoughtfully layered.

Your home doesn’t need fewer ideas, you just needs a little confidence to mix them!

If this space inspires you, comment SHOP and I’ll send over links to everything you see.
If I could only recommend one paint combination for the rest of my life, this would be it.

Years ago, I tested what felt like every white paint sample on the market looking for the perfect pairing: a white for the walls with just enough warmth and depth to bring a room to life, paired with a true, crisp white for the trim and ceiling. I still get excited every time I walk into this house! Here it is:

Wall color: Cloud Cover by Benjamin Moore (Eggshell)

Trim & ceiling: Pure White by Sherwin-Williams (Flat)

One thing I don’t recommend: color matching these into another brand. It never turns out exactly the same, and my home is proof of it during a project…trust me. And as always, test samples in your own home first: natural light and sun exposure can completely change how a paint color reads.

This is the kind of dress that makes getting dressed feel too easy.

It’s so flattering with just the right amount of shape, but still has plenty of room to breathe. And the best part? It’s actually lined (which feels like a rare win these days).

Throw it on for errands, lunch, vacation, or those mornings when you don’t feel like putting an outfit together. No one will ever know!

If you’re new here, this room looked very different when we moved in.

What was once a wall of poorly built bookshelves with no real purpose is now one of the hardest-working spaces in our home.

This room connects our mudroom entry to the kitchen, so from day one, we knew it needed to do more than just be a pass-through. Turning it into a cozy bar and sitting room completely changed the way we live in our house. It’s where we make cocktails while dinner is cooking, catch up with friends, read, decorate for the seasons, and naturally gather throughout the day.

It’s proof that you don’t always need to add square footage—you just need to make the square footage you already have work harder for you.

There’s something about an organized drawer in the heart of the home that makes everyday life feel just a little calmer. We reworked ours to keep the essentials within easy reach, while finally making room for our hidden charging station that keeps the counters feeling clean and collected.

These drawer organizers from @neatmethod are as functional as they are beautiful, with endless sizing options to truly customize your space, plus grips underneath so everything actually stays put.

I get asked all the time, “How do you label your home style?”

I always say it’s modern traditional meets coastal cottage with a little collected, lived-in charm woven throughout. I always follow up with the fact that I don’t think you have to fit into one perfectly defined aesthetic.

I’ve found that the homes that are done well have two things in common:

1. They honor the architecture of the home instead of fighting it.
2. They tell the story of the people who live there.

Your home will never feel quite right if you’re trying to recreate someone else’s Pinterest board, magazine spread, or the latest trending theme. The best spaces are layered over time with pieces you genuinely love and that mean something to you.

If my home inspires yours in any way, comment SHOP and I’ll send you everything room by room, or you can browse my ShopMy for my latest finds and favorite pieces.
The secret isn’t choosing neutral. It’s knowing how to layer it. Texture, contrast, warm finishes, and thoughtful details are what keep a space feeling timeless instead of flat. This is still one of my favorite rooms in our home for exactly that reason.

Sometimes it really is the little things that make all the difference. Upgrading to motorized window treatments have made the morning routine peaceful due to the ease of seeing the light pour in, handling toddler needs amongst fast mornings, and truly being one less thing to fuss with 🤍

I’ve never been afraid of blue on blue.

The more I decorate our home, the more I realize I love rooms that feel layered instead of perfectly matched. Blue walls, blue cabinetry, blue accents…it just feels like home to me and isn’t too much.

If you’ve been asking about my paint colors or where I source everything throughout our home, comment SHOP and I’ll send over all of my paint colors and home links.
There’s something about spending the Fourth at home that never gets old.

The flag waving in the backyard, my pup close by, fresh seafood on the grill, and gathering around the table with the people I love most. These are the moments that remind me how much beauty there is in slowing down and appreciating what’s right in front of us.

However you’re celebrating today, I hope it’s filled with good food, great company, and a little time to soak it all in. 🇺🇸

Happy Fourth of July! P.S. If you spotted something you loved, comment SHOP and I’ll send you links to my outfit and the home favorites featured in this post.

We use our Boos Block every single day, multiple times a day. After years of loving it, we upgraded to this stunning maple edge-grain chopping block, and it somehow made one of our hardest-working kitchen pieces even more beautiful.

The natural variation in the wood adds so much warmth and character to our island, while giving us an incredibly durable surface for all of our daily prep. It’s one of those purchases that truly gets better with use and is made to last. Worth every penny!

Thank you, @johnboosco.
I finally made the switch to faux greenery in our kitchen, and I honestly wish I'd done it sooner.

The reality is, not every corner of a home gets enough natural light to keep plants happy. Instead of constantly replacing struggling plants, I opted for beautiful faux stems that bring the same warmth, texture, and lived-in feel—without any of the stress.

@afloral has become my go-to for the most realistic greenery I've found, and it's completely transformed these darker corners of our home.

I’ve had so many questions about the paint colors in our kitchen, so here they are all in one place.

Walls: Cloud Cover by Benjamin Moore

Ceiling + Trim: Pure White by Sherwin-Williams

Cabinets: Antique White by Cabinet Joint (a close color match is White Duck by Sherwin-Williams, which we also used on our beams and custom range hood).

One thing to keep in mind: paint colors can look completely different from one home to the next depending on natural light, surrounding finishes, and the sheen you choose. Always test samples in your own space before making a final decision.

Comment SHOP and I’ll send you the sources for all of the finishes featured in our kitchen.
The smallest design decisions are often the ones that make a room feel complete. We recently swapped the ceiling light in our mudroom for this scalloped brass flush mount from @residencesupply, and it brought in exactly the kind of detail I love: timeless, refined, and a subtle nod to the coast without feeling overly themed.

Lighting has such an impact on how a space feels, and this piece adds warmth, character, and just the right amount of charm to a room we use every single day. Invest in it!

Summer uniform, solved. Classic stripes, airy linen, and that relaxed yet put together look. It’s the kind of outfit that works just as well for a morning coffee run as it does for dinner by the water. Add this chic woven hair clip, and you’re set!

If you’ve found your way here, chances are we have a similar philosophy on home.

I’m here to show you that beautiful homes aren’t built by shopping from one store or chasing every trend. The magic is in mixing old with new, high with low, vintage with modern, and investment pieces with affordable finds.

My goal is to inspire a home that feels elevated but attainable. Thoughtfully collected and uniquely yours.

Whether it’s an antique I’ve hunted for months, or an Amazon find that looks far more expensive than it is, I’ll always share both.

Comment SHOP and I’ll send you links to my home sources, and curated Amazon storefront.

If you’ve been wanting a Frame TV, this is probably the lowest you’re going to see it all year! I’ve shared mine a million times, but it’s still one of those purchases I’d make again in a heartbeat. In fact, I just did for my living room.

It completely changed the way our spaces feel, while providing easy and diverse technology for the whole family.

The secret to happiness just might be a spindle bed.

Okay, maybe not the secret, but there’s something about a spindle bed that instantly makes a bedroom feel warmer, more inviting, and full of character. It has that timeless, collected look that feels equally at home in a coastal cottage, a traditional home, or a modern space that needs a little soul.

It comes in so many colors and sizes, making it easy to work into almost any home and at a price point that’s surprisingly good for the look.

Comment SHOP and I’ll send you the spindle bed along with sources for the entire space!
Your home should tell your story, not a catalog’s.

The spaces I love most aren’t built from one store, one trend, or one perfectly curated shopping cart. They’re layered over time with pieces that mean something—high and low, old and new, collected and inherited.

That’s always been my goal with our home: creating spaces that feel personal, lived-in, and uniquely ours. Not from a Target page 😉

If you’ve been eyeing something in this space to inspire your own, comment SHOP and I’ll send over the sources!
