I love a good challenge. 🤓 This bathroom in our new-to-us 1920s home was in dire need of a total renovation. It’s hard to believe this was a Jack and Jill style with two doors entering into a 5‘ x 7.5‘ space! To make it more functional we closed off a door and moved the vanity and shower plumbing to be in line with the toilet so everything was in a nice row. I also wanted to make sure it had lots of personality, so I designed it with a vertical ivory and white striped tile and added a floral block print wallpaper. Needless to say, I am in love with this for both its function and modern cottage style! I am so excited for my daughter to use it for many years to come.

This is my second review of a faux garland I love! It’s a nice mixed pine with white berries. I trick people into thinking this one is real every year! This one also comes in just one longer length as well.

I’m excited to kick off my new series, “Request a Room Design” with this open concept living dining room! I put out a call a couple of weeks ago for room ideas for me to design, and I had a blast pulling this modern cottage space together!

When it comes to designing open concept spaces, there are a couple of important things to keep in mind to make sure your space feels cohesive:
- Carry a consistent metal finish and style throughout your overhead light fixtures.
- Make sure you repeat some elements like wood finish or colors in both spaces.
- Create a layout that’s functional including good walkway space and access to and around seating areas.

I’ve been on the hunt for wallpaper for my daughter‘s bathroom and finally landed on the cutest block print! It’s the top left in this round up. I figured I would share a few other favorites I found as well!

This is a mistake I see all the time! 🫣

Hanging art at the right height is one of the easiest ways to give your home a designer’s touch. Just remember a few rules of thumb:

1. If your art hangs alone on a wall (no furniture underneath), hang it so that the center is at high-level. This usually equals about 58 to 60 inches from the floor to the center of your piece.
2. If you’re hanging a group of art like a gallery wall or even just a pair, hang it so that the center of the GROUP is at eye level (58-60” to center).
3. If it’s hanging above a piece of furniture, there’s a little more wiggle room, but you don’t want a ton of space between the top of the piece and your art. A good distance to shoot for is 4 to 8 inches above the top.

I finally picked a wallpaper to finish of my little girl’s bathroom and I cannot wait to get it up on those white walls! It took ordering several samples and noodling over it for a couple of months (wallpaper is an investment!), but I found “the one” - a pink and blue block print floral. Over the years of working with my e-design clients, I’ve had to find good online sources for renovation materials like tile and plumbing fixtures that can be shipped anywhere. One of my go-tos is Wayfair! You may not think of them as a source for that category, but I’ve found that they truly do have just about everything you’d need for all kinds of projects. And with their generous fast and free shipping (even on heavy materials like tile!), it’s hard to beat the convenience.

The Fresh Classic Entryway!

For this design, I went with some classic elements and patterns like turned wood legs and plaid, but also mixed in some unexpected pieces like the knobby lamp and flared scalloped light fixture. It has a great balance of masculine and feminine features, don’t you think?

This three drawer chest makes for a hardworking entryway piece. I love drawers here for storing all those odds and ends that collect in a foyer. It’s small, but mighty! This one is a bit of an investment piece, but the quality of construction and materials can be worth it. You can also hunt for similar antique pieces that may be a little less expensive.

A funky, new traditional entryway!

I love the individual pieces of this entryway design like the fun fruit still life art, the waterfall edge console table, and the brass candle sconces, but it’s the overall feeling I get when I see it that really has me!

The Coastal Modern Entryway!

I designed this foyer around a woven bench. Simple and pretty, this would work really nicely if you don’t need storage. It does offer a perch to put on your shoes or set down a bag though, so it’s definitely still functional in its own way.

New Studio McGee at Target is live! This collection has a little bit of a traditional, old world style to it, but with a fresh twist and I’m loving a lot of the pieces from it. There are more to come in the next month or two, but here are some faves from the furniture and decor that have been released so far. That new fabric on the Lynnwood ottoman might be my very favorite one of all!

This collab stopped me in my tracks. Y’all have GOT to check out the Pierce & Ward + West Elm collection! It’s high design at a very reasonable price point. The details are unreal. I mean, just look at the little ball feet on the chair or the perforated doors on the sideboard! I’m a true believer that lighting can set the tone for a room and that a pretty fixture can be found at any price point. I rounded up some faves in brass that are all currently 20% off! We gave our back patio a little makeover thanks to some new pieces from Wayfair! I loved that it

fold for easy storage! We also picked up some new planters for these big ole Boston ferns,
