It was love at first sight when I saw these plaid chairs in the store. I knew they would be perfect for our future living room! I designed the space around a cozy conversation area featuring four of them plus using some of what I have and a few new
pieces. I can’t wait to bring this to life in the next few months!

Here’s a look at the selections for our future “formal” living room. We’ll be using four of these plaid chairs to create a cozy conversation area. The walls will be SW Evergreen Fog. I’m loving how this modern english cottage vibe for this living room!

As I’ve been on the hunt for pieces for our post-renovation home, I’ve been seeing a lot of things I love! Today I was at Crate & Barrel and had so much fun looking at all of these pieces in store. They are even more beautiful in person!

Y’all want to know my favorite way to sample paint colors? @Samplize! It’s sooo much easier than taking a trip to the paint store, painting samples on the walls, and dealing with the cleanup/disposal after. These large peel and stick swatches are the best. I ordered a new batch for our house to think about colors when we paint at the end. These are so pretty!

WHOA. I was just adding the Carter char to a client’s shopping list and saw the @serenaandlily Memorial Day sale is live and there are some deep, deep discounts! A few favorites are listed here, but there are many more to explore!

I seem to be drawn to little writing desks these days! I loved the idea of the marble top on this one. It reminds me of an antique wash basin table!

Love the details of this brass wall sconces! The delicate pleated shade mixed with the more modern base is an eye catching combination. #dailyfind

Loving this cozy corner of our home 🥰. Old + new is always a winning combination

The cutest desk! Perfect for a kid’s room or a small corner that needs a little writing space

I shop Wayfair all the time for both my home and my clients. Thinking back through some of my favorite pieces of furniture, lighting, and decor that are in my own home, these are my top 5 that have stood the test of time and I’d buy again in a heartbeat!

Just a few highlights…
- This rug is SO SOFT! People always comment on how nice it feels.
- The blue chairs are a great mix of traditional style with a punchy mod fabric.
- If that lamp wasn’t so perfect for my living room I’d steal it for my daughter’s bedroom. 😉
- That art print fools people into thinking it’s an original all the time and it’s SO affordable!
- We’ve had our bed the longest out of all of these pieces (6.5 years) and it looks just as good as the day we bought it.

All winners in my book!

These are my top five BEST Wayfair finds that I’ve owned for years:
- A super soft Turkish style rug
- blue patterned chairs
- an abstract landscape
- a table lamp with a scalloped rattan shade
- a classic wingback bed

I shop Wayfair a lot because it’s a one stop shop for so many different categories in one place – from beautiful lighting to reliable furniture brands – in the shipping is also often very quick and free.

Want to know more? I’m reviewing each of these in detail on the blog at mixandmatchdesign.com. I’ll tell you how long I found it, what I love about it, and if I have any feedback or watch outs on it. I love reading a good review and if you do too, this is for you!

This new Jenny Lynne style nightstand is so cute! It comes in several styles, including a drawer on the bottom and a smaller version. Four finishes as well! It’s well priced at under $300. Don’t miss this one!

We’ll be giving our powder room a makeover with our big reno over the summer and I had a chance to play around with some design ideas today! I chose a fluted light oak vanity that offers good storage, along with a mix of polished nickel and brass finishes. I’m loving this Sanderson wallpaper paired with the herringbone tile floor too.

I’ve been doing a lot of rendering with AI recently and it’s so helpful to visualize things. Here’s where I landed for today! I’d be thrilled with these selections, but being a designer makes it hard to actually finalize things. 🥴 Loving the idea generation phase though!

I loved these curtains before, but now they have even more options to fit just about any window! They offer extra wide widths along with four lengths, and lots of good colors. There is a true blackout now too, so you can use them in a bedroom more easily!

I was recently sourcing a dresser for a client and came across these two very similar white-washed ones at very different price points so I thought it would be fun to play a little game of high versus low! Which one would you choose?

#LTKHome

This dresser with a swoopy base caught my eye! Would be so pretty in a coastal traditional home.

These counter stools from our old kitchen are still one of my favorite finds. I can’t believe how affordable they are at full price and right now two of the colors are on sale! We were happy with these for 4+ years and would buy them again!

Obsessed with these new curtains from the @pinkchickenny x @westelm collection!

Will someone please let me design a little girl’s room around them?

#LTKHome

I’ve now used these dining chairs for 3 (maybe more?!) client projects - they’re so versatile. Now they come in 11 colors and are 20% off right now!

Surprisingly affordable given the source. 😉

If you’re looking for a vintage inspired mirror, take a look at this one! I love the scalloped edge and the bead detail. The price point is really good too! It would be great in a bathroom or above a console table.

#LTKHome

I’m going to start sharing a favorite find each day (or at least a few days a week!). These are pieces that stop me in my tracks and I hope you like them too! Today’s is a beautiful, English-inspired barley twist desk. This would be perfect as a console table as well with a couple of ottomans underneath. I’m hoping to use it like that in a client’s home that I’m working on now!

Looking for something easy and meaningful to give? I just came across this gallery wall set for under $100 that’s highly rated. Just get a few photos printed, pop them in the frames, and you have a beautiful, collected gallery wall that’s ready to hang!

It might be time to drop a hint, because if you’re like me, you’re a mom who is doing ALL the things right now: ordering the gifts, wrapping said gifts, signing up to bring cookies to the class party next week, making sure you have a babysitter for the Christmas party on Saturday night…the list goes on, am I right? Having a cozy retreat to sink into at the end of the day should be high on your list. Let’s work on that in 2026! Here’s some inspiration to get you started, but let’s make it yours. I’m here to help!

I love a good challenge. 🤓 This bathroom in our new-to-us 1920s home was in dire need of a total renovation. It’s hard to believe this was a Jack and Jill style with two doors entering into a 5‘ x 7.5‘ space! To make it more functional we closed off a door and moved the vanity and shower plumbing to be in line with the toilet so everything was in a nice row. I also wanted to make sure it had lots of personality, so I designed it with a vertical ivory and white striped tile and added a floral block print wallpaper. Needless to say, I am in love with this for both its function and modern cottage style! I am so excited for my daughter to use it for many years to come.

This is my second review of a faux garland I love! It’s a nice mixed pine with white berries. I trick people into thinking this one is real every year! This one also comes in just one longer length as well.

#LTKHome #LTKHoliday

Reviewing two of my favorite faux garlands for you today! These are some longtime favorites that are a great balance of price and quality.

The first is this Norfolk Pine. They just sell it in the longer length now, but I actually think that’s better than what I have! It’s currently 50% off too, so grab it now while it’s available! Head to my next post to see my second review.

My first gift guide is ready to roll! This one is all about personalized and meaningful gifts that you can order now to get ahead of the holiday rush. Whether it’s a personalized tote bag, a house ornament, or a photo flip book, these are sure to please.

The only one I couldn’t link here is for Storyworth! These are such a cool gift idea especially for grandparents. Look it up if you’re not familiar with it!

I’m just dipping my toe into AI rendering and wow, how cool is this? I transformed my recent Modern Cottage Living/Dining Room moodboard into a realistic room and am very impressed with how it turned out. I’m sure I’ll be integrating this tool into my design client projects soon! What do you think? Would you want to have this option for a project?

Hello from my daughter’s bathroom! I love this brass medicine cabinet and polished nickel faucet combo 😍. Can’t wait to wallpaper in here!

Serena and Lily is having their best sale of the year right now! I talked about a few of my favorites over on stories, but I thought I’d put them all in one place for easy browsing! There’s so many good things on sale for up to 40% off, including these Windsor dining chairs that come in a bunch of colors!

#LTKHome #LTKSaleAlert

I’m excited to kick off my new series, “Request a Room Design” with this open concept living dining room! I put out a call a couple of weeks ago for room ideas for me to design, and I had a blast pulling this modern cottage space together!

When it comes to designing open concept spaces, there are a couple of important things to keep in mind to make sure your space feels cohesive:
- Carry a consistent metal finish and style throughout your overhead light fixtures.
- Make sure you repeat some elements like wood finish or colors in both spaces.
- Create a layout that’s functional including good walkway space and access to and around seating areas.

I hope you enjoyed this first installment! I’ll do another one later in November so stay tuned for that!
