Can you wear the same white shirt for 5 days in a row?
I’m saying yes — yes you can. (I’m not saying don’t wash it in between… 😅)
But if this isn’t proof that a white shirt is one of the most versatile pieces you can own, I don’t know what is.
Anything else you’d like to see styled for a week? 🤍

The biggest mistake we make when we go shopping is to get items for a lifestyle we don’t have.

I’m all for inspirational motivation in life. However our wardrobe is not the place for it.

It doesn’t make sense to get things that we won’t use straight away.
Most of us have too many holes to fill in our wardrobes to be able to have nice things to only keep for “later”.

Because the truth is - we don’t even know when later comes or if it does at all. And even if it does, we probably rather get the things we like then instead.

So get items for you now, your body, your budget and your lifestyle as it is today.

…and let future you focus on her when she is ready.

Find all details below.

I’ve never told this properly before.

I’ve been modelling since I was a baby. Full time from 18.

34 years inside the fashion industry, and I was still a shopaholic with a wardrobe full of clothes I never wore.
It was always someone else’s job to dress me, so I never learnt what I actually loved.

It took having my son, and the whirlwind suddenly going quiet, to finally figure out what I actually wanted.

8 years on, I share everything I’ve learned. The frameworks, the tools, the thinking that changed how I approach getting dressed entirely.

If you’re new here - this is where it started. 🤍

Item 88 - My One Item a Month choice for May is…

…a shorts and blazer set! I know it’s technically two, but I tend to let sets slide as they kind of need each other.

This set is perfect for my lifestyle. I can wear it to brunches, events, dinners and running errands in town depending on how I style it.

I will of course pair it with my April item 🙌🏻

What is your one item this month?

Your wardrobe should be like a puzzle where all the pieces fit with each other, the only difference is that you should be able to seamlessly move the pieces around and the picture would still work.

This is part 1 of my series of “3 timeless accessories - 5 looks” where I want to highlight that you don’t need a lot of items, you just need the right ones.

Save this for when you need wardrobe inspiration, follow for part 2.

What I wore to…

…some of the most fun-to-dress-for event in the last year.

Which one do you like more?

I adore a dress. I’m such a princess at heart. I never feel as good than when I’m wearing a dress I truly love.

If I could have a wardrobe full of cocktail and evening dresses, I probably would.
…But I have to be realistic and to cap myself to as many dresses that are needed for my lifestyle. Luckily I still need a few…

All of these on a budget of £350/month.

Which one of the 6 do you think is my best purchase?

It’s worth remembering that I have been doing the #OneItemAMonth challenge for over 7 years now. So I don’t have much of a regular wishlist based on what is missing in my wardrobe anymore.

Instead I’m starting to tick off dream items and pieces that really represents my personal style.

When you just start you will have most likely need to focus more on basics and items that is missing to make your wardrobe work harder for you.

White jeans - the eternal summer staple in my capsule wardrobe.

Do you prefer look 1, 2 or 3?

Very elegant, not too hard to style but definitely needs to be paired with a sense of daring 🍷 ☕️ 🫟

I love this high waisted wide legged style as it’s a lot more forgiving than some of the other versions of white jeans.

I adore this striped cashmere top - but I really don’t use it enough.

Instead of just letting it sit there and gather dust, I’m going to do something about it and style it in 3 new ways.

This is the absolute best way to shop your own wardrobe and find a new love for an item that has gone a little stale.

It will inspire me to reach for this top more often. And in the end I take photos of each look and add them to my outfit library.

3 great new looks for my outfit rotation and an item that feels exciting again - winning! 💪🏻

My 5 favourite summer shoes in my capsule wardrobe 🤍

Between these 5, I genuinely don’t feel like I need anything else for summer.

I styled all of them with the same dress so you can clearly see how much the shoe alone changes the feel of the outfit.

1. Fabric trainers - comfortable, slightly playful, and easy to wear. Perfect for something like a picnic or a bike ride.

2. Nude barely there sandals - subtle, but they add a bit of polish. Still very wearable, even with an 8.5 cm heel.

3. Ballet flats - soft and feminine. Ideal for a coffee date or a walk into town.

4. Statement sandals - these naturally become the focal point. They carry the outfit on their own.

5. Luxe sandals - comfortable but still put together. Think Italian holiday or shopping in St Tropez.

The eternal question - what to wear to the airport? ✈️

Are you more of a 1, 2 or 3?

It’s definitely a head scratcher.

You want to be comfortable, but still look smart. Dressed for the weather going to the airport, the plane and the climate at the destination… Not too hot, cold, casual or uncomfortable.

My go-to is always layers. So I can pop them on and off as needed. And I always have a scarf and some woolly socks in my carryon luggage.

I want soft, non-creasing items that are comfortable to sit in for a long time. But they still need to look nice and put together. I’m definitely not a trackie bottom kind of person.

What do you wear when you fly?

3 shopping rules old money families use to keep their wardrobes aligned and their style consistent.

1. No trends - Clothes are your way of introducing yourself in the room before you even open your mouth. So it makes sense to stay consistent and let what you wear mirror you, not what’s “in” at the moment.

2. No logomania - We are not dressing to show how much money we have, we dress to show who we are. There is no reason to be a designer brands billboard, it only comes across as insecure.

3. Buy cheap - buy twice. Get what you want in great quality the first time or you will have to buy it over and over again. It sounds more expensive but it works out the opposite. To have trusted items that will last for many years also helps keep our style consistent.

Do you have any shopping rules to add?

I have an amazing wardrobe because I’m a really clever shopper!

8 years ago I was a shopaholic, I was fast fashion addicted and chasing trends that never felt like me. I hated my wardrobe even though I was spending a lot of money on clothes every month.

It took a pregnancy for me to wake up and decide to figure out a better way. I wanted my wardrobe to actually work for me and my life.

So I went on a mission, and now 8 years later I have over 50 clever tools that has helped me build my own high quality luxury wardrobe, without being rich.

I share all that I have learned, so you can do the same. So if you are not already following me, I suggest you do. I can save you a lot of money.

Is it great quality or just expensive?

The other day I walked into one of the big flagship stores of a well known in designer on Old Bond Street here in London.

On the top floor I spotted a gorgeous gown in what looked like silk. As the price tag was pretty hefty, I asked the lady if it indeed was made in 100% silk. She confirmed.

Luckily I had my wits about me and as I tried it on, I double checked the label. To my surprise the dress was made completely from plastic.

Safe to say I left it in the dressing room.

These days a designer label does not equal great quality. We have to be clever and actually do our own checks before we choose to buy anything.

An old money family rule is to focus on buying the big four - wool, silk, linen and cotton. All in 100% or if mixed, with each other.

Not all items can be made only in natural materials. But if they can, they really should. Especially if it’s assumed from the price.

Do you have any designer horror stories?

When I was 20, I had no real concept of what being in my 40s meant.

Anything past mid-30s just sat in my mind as one vague category;

Old.

Not something to aim for. Not something to think about.
More just the point where life tapered off.

Part of that was what we were shown.

Women in their 40s on TV looked like they had opted out.
Grey hair, practical clothes, no sense of identity beyond being “past it.”

So of course it felt undesirable.
Why would you look forward to something that looked like an ending?

The reality is very different.

Most women are only just starting to figure out who they are in their 40s.
Careers stabilise. Standards get sharper. Decisions get better.

- The majority of female startup founders are between 40-45 years old.
- Most self made female millionaires are between 40-60.
- Women’s self acceptance, confidence and life satisfaction is at its peak in midlife.

The timelines we were shown were wrong.

You’re not supposed to have it all figured out at 25.
You’re not “late” at 35.
And you’re definitely not finished at 40.

If anything, that’s where things really start getting interesting.

I really wish I know what I know now then. I would have been a lot more excited about getting older.

What do you wish you knew in your 20s?

3 elegant looks wearing some of my favourite pairs of trousers.

Personally I like mine high-waisted, floor or ankle length, tighter around the top but loose and straight from the knee down. I prefer fluid fabrics like silk that moves beautifully when I walk.

As I’m 5’5 trousers like these can either elongate my legs or make me look like a chipmunk. It all comes down to the cut and proportions.

I want an as unbroken silhouette as possible, so a pair of trousers that looks streamlined but not tight is the perfect choice for me.

Never underestimate the power of a really well fitting pair of trousers. ☝🏻

As a wardrobe expert - 6 brands I choose to bring with me on holiday. 🍹

They are high quality, amazing cuts and can be worn as a part of my signature style for many years.

@raishmaofficial - This set is gorgeous, lightweight and appropriate for most occasions. It gets all the compliments.

@alexandramiro - a sure bet when it comes to beach and resort wear. Some brands just understand what women’s bodies want to look like.

@shopmandibreeze - A Swedish brand with the breeziest dresses and coverups. Just add a pool and cocktails with umbrellas.

@hardingegeorgia makes incredibly fun and flirty evening dresses that really shine on holiday. I call this my 80s mermaid dress.

@heidikleinswim is the gold standard for beach and holiday wear. I will always pack at least a bikini and a dress to make sure I always have something I love and feel great in to wear.

@refine_mood makes me feel like a modern Marilyn Monroe. Heavy silk, barely there straps and simple cuts that follows any curves beautifully.

How to afford a luxury wardrobe on a normal budget.

Not a day goes by without at least one DM on how the #OneItemAMonth challenge has not only changed people’s wardrobes, but even their lives.

Because once you start curating instead of collecting, that tend to bleed into other parts of our lives.

I have been using this shopping technique for the last 6 years and thousands of my followers are doing the same.

The challenge is to instead of buying several items of clothing a month, use our entire fashion budget towards one single piece.

Most of us have no idea on how much we spend on fashion a month. And £40 here and £50 there quickly adds up.

I have had followers spend over £500 a month on clothes, but still thought they couldn’t afford anything over £50…

It’s baffling what you can afford once you stop impulse shopping and start consciously planning your wardrobe.

One of the best things about this challenge is that we have to really think about our wardrobes and what we truly need to make sure that the 12 items a year covers all of our needs.

Let me know if you would like to know more about this challenge (the rules etc) in the comments. 🩵

…and if you are already doing it, and it works for you - please help me encourage others to start too!

“Mix high and low” is one of the most repeated pieces of fashion advice. It’s also one of the worst.

The idea of mixing designer items with fast fashion sounds good in theory but doesn’t work in practice.

Well-made items have structure, quality and impeccable finish. Lower-quality ones don’t. When you combine the two, the well designed piece will only highlight how poorly made the fast fashion item is.

High and low also justifies having a wardrobe full of fast fashion, as long as you have a few designer pieces to lend some kind of “aura of elegance” to your looks.

And there’s a reason this advice is everywhere.

Lower-priced items sell.
They’re easier to justify, easier to impulse buy, and easier to monetise through affiliate links.

Instead, let’s mix high and mid.

A few nice designer items mixed with thrifted, preloved or just really great high quality mid tier brands. Items that can stand for themselves and will make your whole look work together.

14 days in 15 frames - There is scientific data on why you really SHOULD go on holiday.

The Recovery Paradox -

Time off increases productivity because performance is limited by recovery, not effort.

This comes from occupational psychology and is strongly supported in burnout research:

- Cognitive performance declines with continuous load.
- Rest restores attention, decision-making, and creativity.
- Without recovery, output becomes slower, lower quality, and more error-prone.

Simply :
Working more hours does not mean producing more value.

The Default Mode Network (DMN)

When you stop working (walking, travelling, relaxing), your brain activates a different system.
- The DMN is linked to insight, creativity, and problem-solving.
-This is why people get ideas in the shower, on flights, or on holiday.

So holidays aren’t just “rest”, they actively improve thinking quality.

Attention Restoration Theory (ART)

This comes from environmental psychology.
- Focus uses “directed attention”, it gets fatigued.
- Natural or novel environments restore it automatically.

This is why:
- A beach holiday feels mentally different from sitting at home.
- Travel often leads to clarity or new perspectives.

You don’t take a holiday to “rest.”
You take it to:

- Reset cognitive capacity.
- Improve decision quality.
- Increase creative output.
- Avoid long-term decline in performance.

Thailand wardrobe diary 5/7- Date night 🍸

We call this @hardingegeorgia dress my “mermaid dress”. I absolutely love the sheen and the fun design.

I might be a neutral girl at home, however, when I’m on holiday I’m much more colourful. It’s my time to have a little fun with what I wear and this dress is exactly that - fun!

And I always have a great time when I’m wearing it. How can I not?

The Novelty effect -
When you do something new, your brain releases more dopamine.

That has two massive positives:
- Higher engagement and emotional intensity.
- Stronger memory encoding as the hippocampus activity increases.

This is why a week on holiday feels longer than a routine week at home and new relationships or environments feel more vivid.

Your brain is literally recording more data per unit time.

Without novelty, even good lives can feel flat.
New experiences temporarily reset your baseline, making you feel alive again.

Thailand wardrobe diary 4/7 - A day deep sea fishing.

Musts - a long sleeve coverup. SPF 50, sunglasses, swimwear, hat, proper shoes (no sandals or flip flops) and a lot of patience.

I have been fishing since I was very young, as soon as I could hold a rod, I was included on the boat.

In Sweden it’s very common to have a family holiday home on an island or in the woods, we were lucky enough to have both and I spent a large chunk of my summers finish with my dad and his uncle. And in the winters you found me on frozen lakes by a hole in the ice fishing pikes with my step dad.

It’s very common in old families to teach children to hunt, ride, ski and fish. The idea that we would be sitting around pools with fruity cocktails on holiday is just not for us. We were taught to be active, take part and hone our skills. And I would never have it any other way.

…and lucky that because today I caught my first ever tuna. 2.2Kg and it put up a big enough fight for me to end up with big blisters on my hands. Totally worth it for the fresh tuna sashimi that followed. A once in a lifetime experience and the best sushi I have ever had.

Do you fish?

The gorgeous Luna bag by @songmont_official 🤍

I have been wanting this bag since I saw a review of it by @tanner.leatherstein.

It’s probably the most versatile bag I have ever come across and I actually can’t believe the quality I got for my money. It’s outrageously well priced for this level of leather and construction.

I’m partial to a smaller bag that still will fit all my necessities and the Luna can transfer from a day cross body to an evening clutch in a click.

You will see me wear this bag often, and for a lot of different types of occasions.

To find out where to get the bag and any clothes I’m wearing just comment “Link” and I will send the links to your DM (Use the code “tesPath“ for a nice little discount!)

Wide legged trousers make you look shorter right?

Not necessarily.

Bad wide leggings trousers can make you look short, but If balanced correctly both to our proportions and the other items we are wearing, they actually have the complete opposite effect.

The keys to en elongating wide trouser look is;

1. A higher waist
2. Full length trousers that graze the ground, or a well proportioned ankle length (not too wide leg).
3. A straight cut that makes the trousers (and legs) go on for days.
4. Either a tighter top, or an item with volume that’s tucked into the waist. You need the anchor point of the waistband to counteract any extra fabric.

And if you really want to go for it, make sure to dress only in one shade or tonal. To trick the eye to only see a long continuous line instead of any cuts on the body.

How to incorporate spring pastels into your wardrobe.

Do you prefer look 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5?

If you like me, don’t often wear colour, then pastels are the easiest way to add some more springlike shades into our wardrobes.

I personally love pale yellow, dusty pink and light blue and these shades work really well with my otherwise very neutral wardrobe.

They are the most understated “fun” colours we can pick and they feel just right this time of year. 🌷

We have all had that moment… standing in front of a full wardrobe, running late, and nothing feels right.

Outfit anxiety is really common and the easiest way to get rid of it is this:

1. Every time you buy something new, style it into 3 outfits as soon as you get home and make sure to take photos of the new looks.

2. Any time you wear an outfit you feel really good in, take a photo of it.

Then you save all the photos in a folder on your phone. You can split it by occasion if you feel like it would make things easier.

That then becomes your outfit library.

So when you’re getting ready, instead of overthinking it, you just open your phone, scroll, and pick something you already know you like.

It also reminds you of what you actually have, and how to wear it. 🤍
