Most people treat nights out like they don’t count, and then feel like they have to “get back on track” the next day. That back and forth is what keeps them from making progress.

When you have a plan, even a loose one, it changes everything. You can go out, enjoy your time, and still feel good the next day because nothing was left up to chance.

It’s not about avoiding real life. It’s about having boundaries that let you be part of it without feeling like you’re undoing everything every weekend.

Incorporating ACTIVE rest days is what helps me stay consistent. 

Rest day doesn’t mean doing nothing. That’s what gets you stuck in the cycle of not wanting to do anything at all. 

Sleeping in just a little bit (if I can 🙃) instead of sleeping until the last second to rush to get ready for work, walking and stretching so that I’m still moving my body. It’s still a slower morning without completely dropping my routine. 

Save this if you need the reminder that rest days are part of the plan too.

Being a mom of two boys, I’ve done the newborn nights.
I’ve had a newborn, baby, toddler that did not sleep.
I’ve functioned on broken sleep more times than I can count.

And now I’m walking into perimenopause, where sleep gets weird again for completely different reasons.

So when I say I know exhausted, I mean it.

But I’ve learned something over the years:

Being tired and being depleted are not the same thing.

True exhaustion feels heavy in your bones. It’s rare. It needs rest.

Most of what we label as “tired” on a random Tuesday morning is resistance. It’s the comfort of staying put. It’s the negotiation.

That’s why I set myself up the night before.
Clothes out. Plan decided. No mental debate waiting for me at 5 a.m.

Because when there’s nothing to decide, I just move.

Getting it done first changes the tone of my whole day.

There are fewer excuses floating around in my head and one less thing hanging over me while I’m answering emails or driving carpool.

What I do for me shows up everywhere else, my patience, my work, my home.

And the older I get, the more I realize this isn’t about pushing harder.

It’s about keeping a promise to myself before the day asks anything from me.

Morning Routine - 5 am club
