Here’s some advice for expecting mamas regarding swimwear: you do NOT need to purchase maternity swimsuits! I purchased one “maternity” swimsuit for this trip and I absolutely hated it. I’m not sure why swimwear brands do this, but just because a woman is pregnant does not mean that every square inch of her body should be covered. And this also applies to women who aren’t pregnant: the frumpier the cut, the worse it will make a woman’s body look. I have really never understood why brands do this at all. No, I do not need my entire ass cheek covered just because I’m pregnant, thank you very much. In fact, it makes me look larger than I am (which is what NO pregnant woman wants, right?). Every maternity swimsuit I’ve found has too much fabric and does not do positive things for a woman’s body. Other than this one terrible maternity swimsuit, all I brought on this trip were suits from my existing collection. I picked tops that had just a little more coverage (because the girls have gotten larger) and bottoms that are low cut. Unfortunately high waisted bottoms don’t work, but as long as the bottoms are cut low enough to sit under the belly, they work just fine. As long as you’re willing to rock the bump, a standard bikini while pregnant will work just fine. And if you’re not into showing off the baby belly, sizing up on one piece suits with some stretch will work also. Try something with a textured waffle or woven fabric.
