I look back at 2025 and I did not create nearly as much art as I would have liked. Honestly, I didn’t create a single piece I’m proud of 🥲 it’s crazy how a year can go by and that happen. that’s gotta change this year…

I can watch a show or listen to a book while I draw, but I want to rebuild the habit of relaxing with art (other hobbies too, but art especially!) rather than doomscrolling, because that was at its WORST in 2025, it’s embarrassing how high my screen time was. I’m trying to remember that any creative time is better than none even if I don’t create a masterpiece, which 99% of the time I won’t and that’s ok!! It’s still worth it 🎨

I only read 11 books in 2025 and I was 3 books shy of my 15 book goal…. overall it was just a terrible reading year. I DNF’d left and right, no book seemed to click.

It’s no secret the Lunar Chronicles is one of my favorite book series of all time, and I found this set of drawings I did back in 2021, and because I like angst I’m sharing it again😊 If you like my Lunar Chronicles art I also sell TLC prints, shirts and sweatshirts in my shop!! 🚀🚀

I’ve been really making an effort to reduce my screen time, and it has me picking up old art supplies or trying new things.

It’s really hard for me, especially as an artist, to be bad at something new. There’s often a pressure that since we’re good at one form of art we should be good at all of them, but I think it’s important to disconnect and allow yourself to explore and try with no other goal! So I hope these unpolished, ugly little sketches can encourage you to get off your phone as well and try something new!!

I’m an incredibly picky reader, and I don’t mean in that I think I have sophisticated taste, I mean that if a certain book doesn’t match my mood at that exact time, and if the full moon hasn’t risen on the 3rd Thursday of that month, I will probably DNF 😅 I have to be in a VERY particular mood to accept or like a new book, but I LOVE to share the books that do somehow make it through that hurdle! This book was one of my favorite reads of last year. I actually started this drawing back in December and abandoned it until now 😅 I didn’t even intend to finish it, but I wanted to draw something and didn’t want to start over on something new so this got pulled from the WIP grave 🙌🏼 my process has changed a bit too since working on this so it was kinda hard to know where to start but here’s the final result! It’s interesting to see how art and process can change.
