From a weed-filled rock bed with a few sad pine trees… to this.

Two tons of rock, sixty pavers, nineteen bags of sand, and a few too many trips to @loweshomeimprovement later—this backyard is finally finished.

The turf is down, the pavers are perfectly spaced, and I can officially say this one was worth every bucket of granite.

So much progress in the office today! Step one was installing the chair rail. I measured 32” from the floor which is where the top of the chair rail will sit. Next it’s time for the picture frame boxes! I’m using a 2.5” space around mine so I grabbed 2 pieces of scrap wood in this depth and placed the trim, leveled it and then nailed it in place. Tagging everything I’m using for the chair rail and picture frame molding here!

Nothing humbles you faster than seeing what two tons of rock looks like in your driveway ☠️

If you caught part one, you know this backyard started as a weed-filled rock bed with a few sad pine trees.

After clearing everything out and laying the paver base, this week was all about finishing the layout and installing the turf.

But remember that diamond layout I teased in part one? I was so sure of that plan that I bought all the turf in advance… and now that I’ve switched to a straight design, I’m getting nervous I might run out.

• Screw the lid on and shake for 60 seconds
