There’s so much inspiration on the internet (trust me, I know). But you can still get an incredible transformation without going to the extreme. (No you do not need to knock that wall down)

This home office is living proof: I added chair rail, box molding, and crown molding. Painted everything and finished it with wallpaper. All the furniture stayed and most of the decor stayed or was somewhere else in the house.

Proof that simple, thoughtful changes can completely shift how a space feels.

The bones were great, but the listing photos were rough, and when I unboxed it I was excited but also a little concerned.

Small spaces can be the most important connectors in a home.

I shopped my house this weekend and finally moved this little cutie of a mirror into the back entry. It was a Facebook Marketplace find from a couple years ago, and I’ve styled it in a few different rooms since but I can’t believe it took me this long to realize it belonged here. The shape, the scale, that tiny finial at the base… it’s so unique!

This back entry is a small corner of the house, but it plays an important role. It bridges the gap between the cozy TV room and the kitchen, and when I designed it, it felt a little risky. I knew I’d eventually want to renovate the kitchen, but that timeline was very fuzzy. My goal was for this space to act as a true connector. Something that felt cohesive no matter what happened on either side.

This year, I’d love to add crown molding now that I know how to do it (dangerous knowledge), and I may repaint the trim to match the kitchen cabinets exactly. It’s close right now but different enough to bother my Type A brain just a bit. 😅

The home office has quickly become one of the most personal spaces in my house. A place designed to feel calm, inspiring, and deeply supportive of the creative work that happens here.

The starting point was this vintage tapestry wallpaper mural in beige from @belartestudio. I loved how it felt like a natural extension of the view outside my windows and instantly calming. The palette set the tone for the entire room and allowed everything else to feel intentional rather than loud.

Every time I renovate a room I can’t help but fantasize about how it will look with Christmas decorations and honestly that fantasy propelled me through parts of the primary bathroom renovation this spring / summer.

Some simple garland, a little tree, velvet burgundy bows and some plaid towels…and I couldn’t love it more!

I used cypress garland above the windows and drilled little cup hooks into the trim to secure them. Added a sprig of cedar on each end and I think it looks perfect!

Is there anything better than copper?

I ordered these copper lanterns over six months ago, so you can imagine how excited I am to finally have them installed! They're the perfect compliment to my new moody exterior.

The biggest thing for me is scale...as a rule of thumb, exterior light fixtures flanking the door should be 1/3 the height of the total door height. You can see how these new lanterns make so much more sense for the scale of my home vs the smaller original ones.

The next update to the exterior will be landscaping! Stay tuned for more to come.

I’ll be honest: the first time I saw the outside of my house, my mind went straight to Home Alone.

I grew up watching it every single year, and it still sits in my top two favorite Christmas movies (second only to Christmas Vacation). The details get me every time — the intentional red and green everywhere, the carpet, the wallpaper, the hundreds of poinsettias. It’s festive in the most nostalgic, cozy way.

And yes… at least once a year, pizza is mandatory while I watch it. Some traditions just make the season feel right 🍕

This year I decorated the bathroom with some simple garland around done door frame using these cup hooks. I drilled them into the top of the door frame and they screw in, so I’ll unscrew them and rescrew each year and you won’t see the holes! The garland just tucks on top and I added some stems to the end to keep things looking seamless.

The home office reveal ✨

What was once a white box is now one of the most inspiring rooms in the house. From the detailed trim work to the wallpaper mural wrapped in the warmest, saturated cream, this space feels like it’s quietly saying, please come in and stay awhile.

2025 garland: 2 x deluxe Norfolk pine garlands with 4 total at the base. 2 inch velvet burgundy ribbon.
2024 garland: base of cypress garland with prelit hemlock garland on top. Skinny burgundy velvet ribbon.
2023 garland: Norfolk pine garland but not layered (IMO not enough!) with skinny velvet burgundy ribbon.
