beginner’s guide to microneedling at home

step 1: clean skin + sanitized device
wash your face and sanitize your device with hypochlorous acid — or 70% isopropyl alcohol. every time.

step 2: numbing cream
optional but recommended for beginners. apply, wait 20-30 min, wipe off completely. i don’t use it anymore but i did in the beginning.

step 3: needle head
start with a 36-pin cartridge. most beginner friendly.

step 4: serum
pure hyaluronic acid — helps the pen glide smoothly. linked below.

step 5: speed
start at a 2. work up from there.

step 6: depth by area
forehead — 0.5mm
cheeks — 0.75–1.0mm
nose — 0.25–0.5mm
chin — 0.5–0.75mm
jawline — 0.75–1.0mm
eyes — 0.25mm
upper lip — 0.25–0.5mm
neck — 0.25–0.5mm

step 7: technique
small circular motions until the area turns pink. then move on.

step 8: growth factor — immediately after
micro-channels are open, skin is in repair mode. this is what triggers collagen production. linked ones I use.

step 9: aftercare
follow with a ceramide barrier cream — this protects and supports healing. linked. and no actives for at least two days. no retinol, no acids, nothing. let your skin recover.

step 10: red light therapy — wait until the following night to use red light. your skin barrier has just been disrupted and applying heat and light the same night can cause unnecessary inflammation. the next night is when red light really works in your favor — it penetrates deep into the skin, accelerates cellular repair, and amplifies the collagen production that your growth factor already triggered. linked the one I use.

i’m 42. i’ve tried every f*cking beauty thing under $100. here’s my honest ratings.

1. soothing mask — calming, but don’t give much of a glow
2. teeth whitening molds — what I use in between my professional teeth bleaching treatments
3. olive oil shot — my internal Botox
4. 20 min collagen mask — this is a holy sh*t product
5. viral heel exfoliant — did not work for me at all. I can’t believe I showed you guys my gross heels.
6. gua sha cream — thought it was a gimmick, but it actually makes my neck look smoother
7. at-home microneedling — the sounds but micro needling is pretty life-changing if you’re into less crepey, less wrinkled smooth skin
8. thermal brush — I felt like it just fried my hair. That’s all.
9. posture corrector — really does help to fix your posture when you’re wearing it, but I forget to wear it
10. viral spray tan — gives such a deep tan but dries fast so you need to move quickly
11. glass skin spray — this is how I fake a facial
12. body glow — wanna be the sexiest woman in the room? Put this all over your body.
13. dark spot remover — honestly, blown away. I use this on my face every morning too.
14. cellulite device — works but can leave bruises if you’re not careful. I use in the shower when my body is warmed.
15. glutathione for skin brightening — I get why Hailey Bieber and Kylie take glutathione regularly. It totally brighten your skin from the inside out
16. laser hair removal- I get asked all the time if this actually works. Yes, it works! Just time-consuming if using on legs
17. daily sardines — gross but 1000x worth it. Your hair will grow in like crazy, your skin will have this internal glow and you will reach your daily protein requirements so easily.
