Everybody told me I was making a huge mistake painting my small entryway a dark color… 😩

But the only thing I actually regret is letting other people’s opinions sway me in the first place.
If you have an idea in your head, trust your gut and just try it. It’s your home, the only opinions that matter are from the people who live in it! 🫶

My entryway is moody, cozy, and a thousand times more inviting to me than a bright space ever would’ve been. And this black paint? It has the most beautiful copper undertones. Paired with warm walnut stain and brass finishes… the whole space feels rich, luxurious, and full of depth.

Sometimes the “wrong” choice ends up being the perfect one. 🖤✨

✨ DIY Amber Ornament Tutorial ✨👇

1. Pop off the top of the ornament so you can get to the inside
2. Add a few drops of alcohol ink — the more you add, the richer the color will be
3. Swirl the ink around the ornament, keeping it moving until it’s completely dry for that smooth, blown-glass look
4. Use cool air from a hairdryer to speed up this process while you continue swirling
5. (Optional) Paint the ornament tops gold to compliment those warm amber tones

To all the once-little girls who were told they spent too much time in their head… when did you realize the world was wrong, and your imagination was actually your superpower? 🥹✨⛅️

For me, it was here, in this old house with its peeling paint and wonky walls that I realized my imagination wasn’t silly at all. What I was once told to outgrow became the very thing I *needed* to bring this place back to life 🏡💗

Some of us paint, some of us write, some of dance or sing or transform tired houses…

And some of us are only just rediscovering how magical that little creative spark is… after far too long hiding it away 🫶

Sometimes all you need is a little paint to remind you that not all mistakes are disasters 😮‍💨

I definitely had a mild freak out when I first applied the white glaze and woke up to blindingly white bricks!! 😳🥲 But you reminded me that sometimes mistakes turn out to be happy accidents, and you were so right! 🥹

What do you think? Was this a happy accident after all?

What I did: I used concrete stain diluted by 50% sponges over the top to tone down the white and brick back the red look we all missed

I am falling in love with the color black and have now used it in multiple rooms in my house, sometimes as an accent, sometimes I color drench the entire space in black! 🖤

The color black has a reputation for being masculine and modern, but I believe it’s all about what you pair it with. Vintage finds, feminine curves, warm wood-tones , intricate brass details, there are so many ways to have the moodiness and drama of a black room but keep it soft and cozy at the same time.

Don’t be afraid to join the dark side, you might end up loving it as much as I do ! 😉🫶
