Why does everyone say that hostas are a grandma plant?? 😶 I love them ! They DO NOT die! What more could you want 🤷‍♀️

Would you have kept them or bought new plants for this space ?? This a budget friendly project, more specifically my budget is $0, so you best believe I will be keeping my grandma plants and trying to make them look a little more intentional and a little less wild 😅

Also can you believe those trees are only a year old?! They just popped up out of nowhere! I normally don’t like removing trees but they were way too close to the house for the rate they were growing so they had to go 😬

I had lots of great ideas for the rocks in the first episode and somebody said I should make a path with them… do you think there’s a way I can add them to this path or would I need to start from scratch?? 🤔

If you have any other ideas send them my way! 💗
Little changes matter too 💗

They might not feel like much in the moment.

But life is busy and chaotic. Most people don’t have 8 hours a day to pour into the things they want to fix at home.

So here’s your reminder that it doesn’t have to look like big progress to be real progress.

An hour in the evening, a weekend here and there, those small pockets of effort whenever you can find them.

They add up more than you think. 🥹🫶

So if you’re in a season where everything feels slow or unfinished, you’re not behind.

You’re just in the middle of it.

And the middle still counts. 💗
Owning a fixer-upper has taught me that it’s rarely the big projects that take up your time… it’s all the little jobs in between 😅

That’s why I’m always looking for little ways to make those everyday jobs simpler. If I can save time on maintenance, I get to spend more of it on the projects that actually transform this place into the home I’ve been dreaming about! ✨

#ad I’ve used @restmo.official bronze hose wands for years and they’re still going strong, so when they reached out about partnering together, it was an easy yes. I was excited to put their newer watering tools to the test, and they did not disappoint!

Everything feels much more solid and weighty than a lot of the other tools I’ve used in the past, and I really like the thoughtful details like the little adjustment nozzle on the impact sprinkler that makes watering feel a bit less fiddly and a lot more enjoyable considering you don’t get soaked every time you change the spray distance 😶😂

If you’d like links (affiliate) to any of the watering goodies from today’s video, comment “RESTMO” and I’ll send everything your way! ☺️

Don’t forget to use code “DAYDREAM30” for 30% off.
Soooo what do I do with them all?? 😅

Taking care of a house is a big job, and an old house comes with an endless todo list of things that need fixing or updating and if I’m being honest, I feel a little overwhelmed whenever I think about everything that needs attention 🙃

so I ignored this little side yard and built a garden instead because I’m responsible like that 🥲

Now there are Random trees that have somehow grown taller than me. The pile of rocks I dumped here after clearing the woods has completely disappeared under leaves, debris, and spiky raspberry canes. The ivy I was convinced I’d defeated is climbing the house again aaand there are mystery wires on the ground that appear to connect to absolutely nothing. 🫠

For a long time, much to my husbands dismay, I just avoided this space. There always seemed to be something more urgent, easier, or more enjoyable to work on.

But today, I’m finally starting to tackle this little side yard makeover, preferably keeping the cost at $0 if possible 😶

First job: move every single one of these rocks. 😬
Wish me luck.

Do you have an area of your house you’ve kind of abandoned too or is it just me? 😅
Don’t say I didn’t warn you 🥴😅

Between my lack of sprouting seeds causing a late start ,followed by a groundhog eating the one thing that actually grew, my garden is … lacking 🥲😂

But you asked for a tour so I must comply! Is it everything you dreamt it would be? 😬

I hope you’re having better luck with your gardening experience than I am! 🙌 and if you have any tips, I mean any, please leave them in the comments because CLEARLY I am in need of help in this department

I think I’m better at building the garden than actually growing in it but either way I’m having a lot of fun trying and I don’t plan on stopping any time soon 😶🥕🌱
What exactly is “black gold”? 🪱✨

It’s what worms turn your food scraps into! a rich, nutrient-dense compost that feeds your plants and improves your soil (often called vermicompost or worm castings).

I made this easy little worm farm out of a simple plant pot 🪱✨ It’s basically a tiny home for the worms where they can eat leftover food waste whenever they want and turn it into “black gold.”

Once the worms realise they’ve got a good setup, they multiply quickly and the more worms you have, the faster everything breaks down, and the more black gold you get.

If you want your own worm farm comment “DIY” and I’ll send you everything below ☺️👇

🪱 Supplies list (everything you need to make your own)

🛠️ Step-by-step tutorial for you to follow along

📦 Or a ready-made version if you’d rather skip the DIY
An in-bed worm bin lets the worms do the work for you! 😏🙌

Simply add kitchen scraps, and they’ll turn them into nutrient-rich worm castings right where your plants can use them.

Why I love it:
🪱 Less food waste
🌱 Free fertilizer for the garden
💧 Helps improve soil health
🙌 Low-maintenance once it’s set up

(Bonus, if you make it like mine, the heavy pebbles stop any rodents or garden critters getting into your food scraps)

I made mine myself using a terracotta pot and it was super easy to do! I even added a little pollinator watering station on top for the butterflies and bees to have safe place to drink 🥹🦋🐝

If you’d like the tutorial and supply list, comment “DIY” and I’ll send them over ☺️

And if drilling into terracotta pots sounds like your personal nightmare 😅 I also found a ready-made version and can send that too. You know what to do!
I know what you’re thinking…

Why would anyone voluntarily invite hundreds of worms into their garden? 😶🪱

It turns out these tiny creatures are some of the hardest workers in the garden!

The worm house lets me feed kitchen scraps directly into my raised bed where the worms turn them into nutrient-rich worm castings (basically one of the best natural fertilizers you can give your plants). As they tunnel through the soil, they also help improve aeration, drainage, and soil structure!

I wanted to try vermicomposting because it seemed like an easy, low-maintenance way to improve my garden without constantly turning compost piles or buying more products. Plus, it’s a great way to turn kitchen scraps into something useful.

You can make your bin out of almost any vessel but i was a little concerned about potential plastic leaching over time, so I made mine from a terracotta plant pot.

To make the worm house extra special, I turned the top into a little pollinator watering station. 🐝🥹

Did you know bees can actually drown in deep water? The pebbles give them a safe place to land and perch while they drink from the shallow water. It’s such a simple thing, but I love the idea that this little project can help both my garden and the pollinators that visit it.

If you’d like to make your own, comment “DIY” and I’ll send over the supply list, plus a ready-made version if drilling into terracotta pots feels a little intimidating. ☺️

Would you ever try vermicomposting, or do worms creep you out? 👀
I didn’t think I’d be playing with worms in my 30s… but here we are 😶🪱

I’ve been trying to find easier, lower-maintenance ways to improve my garden soil without constantly adding more jobs to my list.

I do have a giant compost pile, but if I’m being honest, it gets completely neglected because who wants to turn a massive pile of compost on a hot day? 😅

That’s why I wanted to try vermicomposting! The worms do all the hard work for you, and if you build the system directly into your garden bed, you don’t even have to spread the compost afterward, just keep topping it up with kitchen scraps and let nature do its thing 🌱

Of course, the DIYer in me didn’t want to buy one, so I made my own out of terracotta pots instead 😶🙌 it was a super easy project and I love that it’s made from terracotta not plastic!

If you’d like to make your own, comment DIY and I’ll send you the supply list, plus a ready-made version for anyone who doesn’t want to drill into pots 🫶
Excuse me sir, those vegetables were not planted for you. 😭

I knew learning to grow my own food would come with a learning curve, but I didnt think I’d be tackling some greedy, little beaver looking creature 😶

This garden has become one of my favorite places. Last year I built it brick by brick with absolutely no idea what I was doing, and somehow it’s turned into a space that brings me so much joy. Watching seeds turn into actual food still feels a little magical to me 🥹

Which is why finding half my garden missing was a little heartbreaking ngl. 🥲 As much as Id love to share my garden with all the little creatures that visit, I was hoping to grow a few vegetables for my family this year. 😅

So I’m calling on the experienced gardeners of the internet… Do you think this netting stands a chance, or am I just delaying the inevitable?

If you’ve battled groundhogs before, what actually worked? I’d love to hear your budget-friendly ideas because right now my defense strategy seems a little flimsy. 😬 do you think the netting even stands a chance?? 😅
Sooo I need a plan because this greedy groundhog ate its way through half my garden in the short time it was out here 🥲 those things can EAT!! 🥴

If you’re new here, I built this garden last year brick by brick despite never having actually grown a vegetable in my life 😶 I’m determined to have this garden filled with food but preferably I would like some for my family too and not just local wildlife 😂

If you have any tips for protecting my garden please share them with me and unfortunately I am on budget so as much as I would love to build a beautiful fence right now, I cannot. 🥲 Is there anything else I can do??

Will my makeshift fence do anything to keep the groundhog out of my veggies?? 😅 he’s a pretty big lad, I fear he’s just gonna push his way through
If you would like the link to the plant clips and the video showing how I trained my climbing roses to grow up the side of my house, just comment “DIY” and I’ll send them your way ☺️

Originally I was going to build a permanent trellis system for my climbing roses but they’re surprisingly expensive!! 🫠 I also wasn’t a fan of drilling multiple holes in my bricks So instead, I tried something more affordable and a little unconventional, to see if I could still get that romantic cottage garden look and these little clips did not disappoint! 🥹✨

I ended up experimenting with training the roses horizontally and at 45° angles along the side of the house instead of straight up and the difference in blooms has been crazy! I can’t believe how beautiful they look this way 🥹🌹
Sooo many of you asked this question, so save this video and take it with you to your local garden center and ask for the variety “Eden Climber.” If they don’t have one, they may be able to recommend a similar climbing rose ☺️

I actually bought mine as teeny tiny little plants from Costco 3 years ago, so it’s worth checking there too.

It’s definitely true what they say about growing climbing roses: the first year they sleep, the second year they creep, and the third year they leap!!

Once I started training my climbing roses horizontally, they absolutely exploded with blooms.

Now I can’t stop staring at them 🥹

If you’re dreaming of a cottage garden, growing climbing roses up your house is one of the prettiest ways to add color and charm. And if you’d like to learn more about training climbing roses, I shared a video yesterday showing exactly how I grow and support mine ☺️
Why did nobody tell me you were meant to grow your roses sideways?? 😶

I planted these climbing roses when we moved into our house 3 years ago and they were teeny tiny little things 😅 the house was (and still is) a mess in a lot of places but I was so excited to have a yard that I planted them anyway!

The first year they didn’t do much of anything and I kind of forgot about them, the second they grew a lot and started to look like a tangled mess on the trellis 🥴 they didn’t produce too many roses though

This spring I removed the trellis and attached them to the house with little clips, trying to send them shooting sideways rather than up..

Well they have flourished !! Summer has only just arrived and they are already COVERED in blooms 😍

I walk outside to stare at them at least three times a day 😂 but they’re just so very beautiful and they give off a lovely smell that’s surprisingly not overpowering at all given the amount of flowers present!

Now I want to try more! What’s your favorite climbing plant??
I want to have one growing up my potting shed in the future ☺️🌸

EDIT: I’ve had a lot of requests for the little clips so I’ve set up an auto dm. Comment “DIY” and I’ll send it your way ☺️
Did you know this rose training trick?! 😮

This spring I removed the old trellis and started experimenting with training my roses horizontally instead of upright.

Before they were scraggly and wild and completely tangled 😅

I attached each vine flat or at around a 45° angle to the wall and they’ve completely exploded in blooms 🤯

I thought I’d see a few extra flowers but I genuinely didn’t expect this much of a difference, it looks straight out of a movie! 🥹

I’m officially never growing climbing roses any other way!
If you want the link to the supplies, step-by-step tutorial and free template just comment “DIY” and I’ll send them your way ☺️🌱

Have you ever started something before you knew what you were doing? 😶

Last year I decided I wanted a garden. Instead of taking the sensible route and starting with a few pots, I spent months building the European-inspired brick garden of my dreams!

In hindsight, most people would probably learn how to grow a vegetable or two first. 😂

Buttttt that’s never really been my way🤪

I renovated a house before I knew how, I picked up power tools before I knew how, and now I’m learning how to grow food before I know how.

Will I accidentally kill a few plants? Probably. 🫠

But I’ve learned that confidence rarely comes before the first step. Most of the time it shows up somewhere in the middle, after you’ve made mistakes, figured things out, and realized you’re more capable than you thought.

So here’s to another season of trial and error, learning as I go, and hopefully harvesting something edible along the way. 😂🥕

Because if this house has taught me anything, it’s that you don’t have to be an expert to begin.

You just have to be willing to try. 🥹🌱

For my experienced gardeners... what’s the ONE thing you wish you’d known when you first started growing vegetables? 👇✨
It’s the thought that counts right?? 🫠😂

So I definitely won’t be planting from seed here anymore so what plants should I buy for this space?

It’s a pretty shady spot under the weeping cherry so something that doesn’t need ALL the sun .

I’ll definitely add some hostas because I have approximately 837373 of them on my property, but somebody told me the other day that hostas are a grandma plant 😶

what’s wrong with hostas? 🥲😅
Will it still be torturous? Perhaps, but it will be over faster 😶🙌 you’re welcome 😂

If you want the link to my favorite sanding tools just comment “DIY” and I’ll send them your way ☺️

It would have been so much easier to paint this guy but once I see that wood grain I just can’t bring myself to paint a solid wood piece of furniture, I mean look at it. I mean, look at it! 🤤

So I’m thinking of trying to do a raw wood look with a neutral wood stain, what do you think?? 👀

I didn’t replace my cracked mirror closet doors… I transformed them instead! ✨

I’ve always preferred to update rather than replace whenever I can and this is one of those projects that proves why! I had never seen anybody do anything like this before and I wasn’t even sure if it would work but these builder grade doors were the perfect opportunity to get a little creative and see what I could come up with!

I’m so happy with how they turned out! Now they feel custom and intentional and the crack is no longer an issue! You could do this DIY in so many different ways. A curvy organic shaped frame, maybe a vintage window grid style, what design would you choose?? 😍

I know the last one might be unusual but trust me 😶🔨

💗 Brad nailer
Probably the tool that made the biggest difference in making my projects look polished and professional 😅 Perfect for trim work, molding, baseboards, paneling, and holding things in place when you’re working alone!

💗 Orbital sander
I do NOT tackle old furniture without this guy! It saves so much time and effort! It smooths rough wood, removes old finishes, and makes paint and stain look SO much better ✨

💗 Drill/driver
Okay yes… this one is obvious 😂 but for good reason. It’s the powerhouse for so many DIY projects. Building furniture, hanging shelves, assembling things, drilling pilot holes… you’ll use it constantly

If you want to make life easier, I’d actually recommend getting a drill/impact driver combo set so you’re not swapping drill bits every two minutes 😏👌

💗 Jigsaw
I know this probably isn’t on everyone’s “beginner tool” list… but honestly I think it should be 🤷‍♀️

Yes, it’s slower than a circular saw, but it’s SO much less intimidating to learn with. No giant spinning blade which I think is what puts a lot of beginners off buying their first saw! 😅 and it can still handle straight cuts, curved cuts, detail work, and even bevels.

One thing I’d recommend no matter what tools you choose 👇
Try to stick to one battery system if you can!

I chose Hart (not sponsored) so all my tools use the same batteries, which makes life SO much easier when you’re mid-project and you have freshly charged batteries waiting for you!!

I love finding simple DIY solutions like this because not every project needs to be complicated, expensive, or require a garage full of tools 😅

If you want the link to the adhesive I used comment “DIY” and I’ll send it your way ☺️

Landscape adhesive acts just like a super strong outdoor glue and I chose it over mortar because

• it’s waterproof and designed for outdoor use
• Handles rain, snow, and freeze/thaw cycles well
• Creates a strong, durable bond between blocks
• Works on concrete, stone, brick, and pavers
• Easier and faster than mixing mortar
• Great for beginner-friendly DIY projects
• Flexible enough to handle seasonal movement outdoors

Have you used landscape adhesive before or are you team mortar? 👀

Did you know this hack ?? 👀

I use the hose trick for all my garden beds! If you struggle with getting your curves right look organic and natural, try using a hose

Extra tips:
• Step back often and view the shape from different angles before you start digging
• Avoid perfectly even curves, slightly uneven lines look much more natural
• Use spray paint or flour to mark the outline once you’re happy with it

What do you think of the rock border ? Yes or no 😶🌱

If you’ve ever looked around your home and wished you could change something but felt too scared to start, you’re not alone. 💗

When we bought our old fixer-upper, I was right there too. I wanted to make this house feel more like us, but with my family living on the other side of the world, that meant doing it alone AND learning everything from scratch! 🥲

So I started small. One project at a time.
Some turned out better than expected, others… not so much 😅 but with each one, I grew a little braver, a little prouder, and a lot more capable than I ever thought I could be.

Now, this page has become my place to share that journey, the messy, magical process of turning a broken old house into something beautiful on a *real-person* budget IKYK 👀

🌿 Honest stories about what it’s REALLY like learning as you go

And don’t worry, you won’t catch me shaming you for your old house, half-finished rooms, or mismatched furniture. My goal isn’t to make you want more stuff, it’s to help you see what’s already possible with a little imagination and effort. I don’t care if your home is completely neutral or looks like the inside of a rainbow. 🤷‍♀️ This space is about creativity, progress, and the beauty of making a home feel special.. not perfect.

You don’t have to be an expert to create something beautiful.
You just have to be brave enough to try!

So if you’re dreaming of transforming your home, learning new skills, or simply love watching old spaces come back to life, hit follow and let’s learn together ☺️🫶✨
Before you buy read this 👇

I am obsessed with this stain color and I’ve used it all over my house! I grab a can of Minwax semi transparent tintable color stain from @loweshomeimprovement and at the paint counter I ask them to mix the shade walnut

⚠️ But don’t forget this detail!!

Minwax has two stain colors called walnut 😅 so you must remember to give them the number code MW1125

Or if you want an easier way, just do what I do and order it online and pick it up already mixed in the lockers 👌

If you want the link to the exact stain comment “DIY” and I’ll send it your way ☺️

Rain chains can work just as well as downspouts when they’re used correctly.
Here’s how to know if one is right for your home 🌧️

A rain chain is great if:
✅ Your ground is graded away from the house
✅ Water is directed intentionally (rain barrel, drain, or stone)
✅ You want something functional and beautiful

Not ideal if:
❌ Water pools near your foundation
❌ Drainage is poor and unmanaged
❌ Water needs to be moved far away ~without~ an extension

The big difference?
Downspouts are super easy to extend but let’s be honest, a giant pipe running across your yard isn’t exactly pretty 😬😅

Rain chains can be extended too, just without the eyesore. You can use a simple catch basin orrrr 😶👇

I went all-in with the most whimsical option and built a dry river bed because who doesn’t want their very own river 🥹💧✨ head to my highlights to see more details on that project!

I’m not about to let a little thing like “reality” stand in my way 🙄

If you can can dream it up, you can figure out a way to make it real 😏✨

This custom closet idea literally started as a cardboard mock-up held together with tape 😂 I’d never picked up a saw before, I didn’t know anything about renovating or design but when the idea arrives, sometimes you just have to go for it! 🙌

What the wildest whimsical idea you’ve ever had, and did you manage to pull it off?? 👀
