My Collections

I just love a fair isle sweater. They are perfect for this time of year - for an Aprés Ski look or an upcoming Olympics watch party.

I purchased my sweater from Hollister - and if you’re wondering why a 50+ woman is shopping at Hollister, it’s because I believe anyone, at any age, can shop at any store. You can always find pieces that suit your style - like this one.

I’ve curated 10 fair isle sweaters for you have fun shopping for this look!

Why not? “Christmas sweaters” don’t have to just be for Christmas! You can repurpose them for Valentine’s Day.

I did find some red sweaters (mostly on sale) if you do want to buy something new!

How fun are these jeans from Boston Proper? They were an immediate “Add to Cart” for me.

What I love about them is that while they have an on-trend suede stripe, the overall style of the jean is classic. I already know that these jeans will be in my closet for years. As a fan of country music, these will be perfect at my next concert. But they can be styled for much more than that. They look just as good with a simple turtleneck. They are not that heavy, so these jeans can be worn all year long.

Wrapping up a week of “non-traditional” holiday colors, I want to talk about brown…again.

I love brown - it can be so cozy. It also pairs perfectly with gold or champagne. You can take a break from your usual black pants and swap them for brown. Brown faux fur is also a great look - I intentionally made mine a monochromatic look.

“I can’t wear plaid” is something I’ve heard a lot. But you can - just maybe in a different way!

Shoes, bags and scarves are a great way to add plaid to your wardrobe in a subtle way. They are also the most versatile- you can wear each piece in a multitude of outfits and get a different look was time!

Mint green for the holidays? Yes, please!

Continuing the theme of “non-traditional” holiday colors to add some different, yet festive pieces to your holiday wardrobe. What could be more festive than faux fur?

I love the “frostiness” of this look. As I mentioned yesterday, I love pastels for the holidays.

This jacket is from one of my favorite Macy’s private brands, Bar III. This exclusive in-house brand offers contemporary pieces at great prices. It’s one of my go-to brands that I wanted to share with you!

Holiday 2025
I have been a huge Macy’s fan for years. They have classic as well as trending pieces all at different price points. It’s my go-to store when I need something special for work or play!

Make sure to check my separate post on my Macy’s holiday picks'

This will be my “uniform” all season long.
I’ll wear a puffer coat when it’s really cold out or I am doing things outside. But for running around this holiday season, I prefer something a little lighter, and more elevated. I will typically wear a heavier coat to the mall and then swap for a lighter jacket while I am shopping. This gives me a more elevated look and I don’t have to either wear or carry a heavy coat.

You’ll also see me in sneakers too. I do like a fun platform sneaker for style, but I like more athletic types when I am on the run. I will add those too.

My shearling jacket is the Suede and Sherpa stitch ten reversible jacket from Dylan. I could not find it on an eligible LTK site, but you can find it on vonmaur.com. I have linked similar jackets.

Today is all about jewel tones for Thanksgiving. 💎

Yesterday was all about the brown earth tones. Now let’s talk about those jewel tones. All three of these colors still look great for fall and have some “earthiness” about them. If you’re looking for a great color for Thanksgiving, but browns are not for you, consider these three great colors.

Outfit 1: Teal is my favorite blue/green for this time of year. It’s also a color that is flattering to almost everyone. This dress is fun too - the fit and flare style makes it easy to have an extra helping of mashed potatoes.
Dress: Amazon
Boots: Vince Camuto

Outfit 2: While I tend to wait to wear green until after Thanksgiving, pairing it with these tan corduroy pants makes it look more fall than holiday. I intentionally matched my boots to my pants to give my legs a long, extended look.
Sweater: Nordstrom Rack
Pants: Banana Republic Factory
Boots: Target

Outfit 3: Burgundy is on of the best fall colors. You can match it with so many things. I kept it simple with my wide leg jeans, a perfect casual look for the holiday.
Sweater: Nordstrom Rack
Jeans: Nordstrom Rack

Some of my original pieces are not longer available but I am linking similar pieces.

Fall 2025
Who doesn’t love a faux suede skirt? Especially in time for Thanksgiving and under $35 from Amazon?
The A-line of this skirt is perfect festive and flattering to most body shapes.

I love the traditional rust color for fall, but it does come in lots of other colors, including a whiner white that I am eyeing for the holidays!

Belts are back — and they’re doing more than holding things together.

This season, the hourglass shape is everywhere, and one of the easiest ways to get the look is to belt your blazer. It’s such a simple trick, but it instantly adds shape, polish, and confidence.

I love how something this small can completely change the feel of an outfit from classic to current in one snap.

💜Purple isn’t just for royalty, it belongs in the office too.

In color psychology, purple blends the authority of blue with the energy of red. The result? A color that signals confidence, creativity and presence - all traits that matter in the workplace. Sometimes the most impactful workwear color isn’t black or navy - it’s purple!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to share my style advice on “How to Wear Jeans Over 50” on WGN-TV in Chicago. I have linked all the looks here, but you can get more information in the blog post on my website!
I recently contributed to an article on Bustle, “Stylists Say These Are the Best Cheap Things on Amazon”.

I am including 3 of my 5 recommendations in pictures and will link to the other two. While I am showing only three, I do own them all. I truly only to recommend pieces that I’ve had experience with - and I love all of these. I think you will too!

You can see all of my recommendations as well as other stylists by copying and pasting this link:

Here is Outfit #1 from my TV segment on WGN this week entitled “How to Wear the 2025 Trends Over50” I made sure that all of them were shoppable looks!

This is Lori’s “sporty chic” trend.

As Seen On
Sometimes it’s all about the handbag. 👜

If you’re looking to add something extra to an outfit or want a statement piece, consider a print handbag. I love having a unique bag, especially with a monochrome or simple outfit.
While I like the white and yellow together, I thought it needed a little more color, which is why I reached for my coral and yellow Coach bag. I already had it in my closet, and I cannot tell a lie—my husband actually picked it out and gave it to me as a gift! As I mentioned earlier this week, I like to hold on to things until I have the perfect place to wear them! I never “give up” on a piece.

Do you always have to know where you’re going to wear something before you buy it? While it’s fun to know where you going to wear, it can also be fun to buy the dress and figure it out later! Which is what I am doing with this dress!

I found it (on sale) and fell in love with it. Since it’s a classic, yet unique style, I know I will find a place to wear it - and when that time comes, I will be so happy I have this dress!

I wore this suit to a luncheon yesterday and I just love it. I love a piece that has classic styling but is in a not-typical color of pattern - like this pastel pink with a navy pinstripe.

I found this amazing look at @macys and the brand is @tommyhilfiger . I was between two styling decisions - whether to pull out the navy or go with a monochrome pink look. I ended up wearing the monochrome look, but would love to know what you would have done.

Spring 2025
If you haven’t considered Olive Green as a neutral before, now is the time to think about adding it to your wardrobe. Here’s why:

Olive Green is an earthy, muted tone that pairs well with a wide variety of other colors, the same as your “traditional neutrals” : black, white, gray and beige. It is different from more vibrant greens in that it is understated and versatile.

It’s easy to wear because it complements both warm tones (rust, mustard or camel) and cool tones (navy, charcoal or pink.) It is also a color that works well for both casual and professional settings, which only adds to its reputation as a neutral shade. It also pairs well with both bold tones and softer palettes, making it a wardrobe staple!

How do you feel about the leopard trend? Do you like a little or do you like a lot? For me, I lean towards using leopard as an accent piece, in smaller doses. But there are occasions when I like a little bit more, like this leopard jacket from zara. I like that it’s a little more casual and I will wear it more often that way.

When you scroll through the photos, you’ll see smaller pieces that I’ve added to my closet. The first is my leopard handbag from Kate Spade. I intentionally created a black and brown outfit so that my bag would be the center of attention.

For my jeans and black turtleneck, I added leopard sneakers. They add an element of fun and they are a great transitional shoe to get us from winter to spring.

#LTKStyleTip #LTKOver40 #LTKSeasonal
Burgundy has been an amazing color all season, but it’s time to make way for its replacement: powder pink. Pink expresses optimism, romance and femininity, all a part of the trend for spring.
This shade of pink is a softer pink, not the bright Barbie pink of recent years. It’s definitely a little more toned down and therefore can easily be paired with more colors.

While I love pink by itself, I especially love coupling it with other unique shades. Because we will be transitioning from burgundy to pink, one of my favorite combinations for right now is the two of them together. You can blend in pink with the burgundy pieces you already have in your closet.

I also love pink with chocolate brown and, as we move closer to warmer weather, you can easily pair iti with Pantone’s Color of the Year, Mocha Mousse. So, for now, think a pink sweater under a chocolate brown leather jacket and for later, think of a pink top with a mocha mousse skirt. A pink sweater or sweatshirt is also a great transitional piece for early Spring. When it’s still cool enough to wear a sweater, but you are so ready to put your black away, pink is a great way to go.

You loved my video on my favorite fair isle sweaters, so here are a few more.

January is the perfect time for these sweaters - they carry on a bit of “festive” from December and they fit the cold and snowy season!

I love talking about sequins, velvet and all things holiday this time of year…but what about simple holiday jeans outfits? I’ve got several for you, especially if you’re over 50!

Like probably many of you, my family dresses pretty casually for the holidays - we all just want to be comfortable. But you CAN be comfortable and festive as well. (No Spanx needed here!). I’m sharing looks with multiple styles of jeans - from colored jeans like ivory and black, to classic denim and to even pearl embellished jeans. You can make all of them festive with just the right tops.

Holiday 2024
I’ve always romanticized sitting around a cozy fire in a ski lodge…even though I don’t ski. But I can still love a great fair isle sweater!

As we move into January, I just love this look. It’s still a little bit festive but it has a cozy feeling as well. There are so many different colors and patterns to pick from that you could wear a new sweater all month long - not that I recommend that!

Another one of my Amazon finds that was quoted on Bustle.com. I wanted to share the fact that I like to recommend things that I have truly tried - so that you feel comfortable that I have first hand knowledge of the products.

Like this faux leather jacket - it’s great find for under $50. It’s soft and buttery with a great fit. Sometimes with leather the arms can be too long, but this one fits and feel great!
