2 things that keep my porch looking great until the first snow 🍂 1) Soak your mums before they go in the pot. Most store-bought mums have a dry, root-bound root ball, so water runs right off the top. Set the plant in a bucket of water for about 20 minutes, until the bubbles stop. Once the roots are fully soaked, you won’t be watering every day all fall. 2) Mix in faux flowers. I put a foam ball in the bottom of a basket and pushed fall-colored stems into it until it looked full. From the sidewalk you can’t tell they’re fake. They don’t wilt or need water, and I get to reuse them every year instead of buying new flowers every fall.
