The calendar might be hinting at fall, but the weather is still very much saying summer!

Gingham, eyelet and straw still feel perfectly appropriate for this end of summer outfit, but the black skirt begins to shift the palette toward fall. The cognac braided-leather belt adds warmth and richness, while the cat’s-eye earrings tie back to that deeper brown and introduce just the tiniest hint of autumn.

I also swapped sandals for classic cap-toe slingbacks. This is why I love investing in shoes that work across seasons. They can be worn throughout spring, summer and early fall, dressed up or down, and these are comfortable enough for a stroll to the market.

Transitional dressing can be as easy as introducing darker colors, warmer textures and a few season-spanning classics.

One of my favorite ways to make getting dressed easier is to keep everything in the same tonal family. It takes so much of the guesswork out of putting an outfit together!

The secret to keeping a monochromatic outfit from falling flat is to play with tone and texture. Here, the white fitted bodysuit gives me a clean foundation, the ivory gauzy skirt adds softness and movement, and the silk scarf brings in a little sheen and introduces a bit of pattern. The textures are all different, but everything stays in the same color family.

Where you take things up a notch is by adding contrast with your bag and shoes. Here, the cognac bag and matching slide wedges ground the otherwise light and airy outfit. And the finishing touch? A pair of vintage Christian Dior earrings, because I love a bit of vintage glam to zhuzh up a basic look!

The best part is that this look is effortless and elegant, but also AFFORDABLE. The bodysuit is from Express ($39), the Massimo Dutti skirt was thrifted on Depop, and the silk scarf was under $20 from Amazon.

I’m willing to bet you don’t need to buy as many clothes as you think. You probably mostly just need to learn how to style your wardrobe’s building blocks, so your outfits feel pulled together, timeless and elevated. If this resonates, this post is for you!

Today’s outfit starts with simple wardrobe basics:
• Cream wide-leg jeans
• A crisp white button-down
• Neutral leather wedges

On their own, they’re fantastic foundation pieces…but also pretty basic and boring. The accessories are what carry the look and give it life.

The skinny coin belt and pearl charm bracelet are both thrifted. I love how the leather on the belt echoes the leather of the wedges, grounding an outfit that’s mostly light neutrals. The bracelet reinforces the same vintage coin motif, making the accessories feel intentional rather than random.

The silk scarf adds a soft layer of texture and pops of color, and together with the vintage-inspired earrings, they bring warmth and elegance.

None of these accessories were expensive, but together they definitely make that basic outfit feel expensive.

This is one of my favorite ways to remix the building blocks of a classic wardrobe. Instead of buying an entirely new outfit, play with accessories. Introduce color, texture, and a little personality, and suddenly the same white shirt and jeans you’ve been bored to tears with will feel chic.

The best part? You can do this affordably! The belt and bracelet were thrifted, and the scarf and earrings came from Amazon. Elegant style doesn’t mean you automatically need to spend more. Not when you know how to style with intention. 😘

Seriously the easiest garden DIY! Turn anything that holds water into a fountain in minutes with this $10 solar fountain. No tools, no special skills (can confirm, because I did it lol). Also highly recommend dropping a copper disc to your bird baths to inhibit growth of bacteria, algae and mold—for humid Georgia summers this is a MUST!

I’ve had dark circles for as long as I can remember.

I wasn’t sleep-deprived. I wasn’t sick. I was simply born with them.

And after 40, when we naturally begin to lose volume around the eyes, that darkness can become even more pronounced because the tear trough creates additional shadow.

After years of trial and error, I realized the biggest mistake I used to make was adding more and more concealer when my under-eyes still looked tired. I learned the answer isn’t more product. It’s better placement, better blending, and *less* product overall.

Here are the keys that made the biggest difference for me:

• Always prep the area first. I use hydrating eye patches before makeup to plump and smooth the skin. I also love eye creams with vitamin C and caffeine. And drink enough water! It really does make a huge difference in your face overall.

• Color correct before concealer. This is non-negotiable. A corrector neutralizes the darkness so the concealer can do its work.

• Use the smallest amount of product possible. I actually scrape excess product off the applicator before applying.

• Let each layer sit for a few minutes before blending. This improves coverage and longevity.

• Focus product placement on the tear trough and surrounding shadow—not directly into the under-eye crease.

• Blend outward, upward, and around the orbital bone to create a brighter, more lifted effect. And tap, tap, tap the product in gently with your concealer brush.

• Remove any product that settles into the lower lash line crease before setting. Tap lightly with a Q-tip so you don’t create harsh lines of demarcation.

• Set everything with the lightest dusting of loose powder.

Unbothered IS the new chic.

In my quest to do LESS, remove anything that makes me feel insecure, annoyed or sucks my precious time, I stopped going to the nail salon. Completely.
