Once upon a time a new employee joined my team, I noticed something unusual, she never asked questions.

Instead, she tried to figure things out on her own with no frame of reference and no clue about the right outcome.

At first, I thought she was just taking initiative. But then I learned her previous manager criticized her for asking questions. That experience left her in survival mode.

Workplace PTSD is real because toxic environments leave scars. You carry that trauma into the next job, even if the new environment is healthier.
