Hair tutorial for flat, straight, shoulder-length hair after 50. If your hair refuses to hold a curl or falls flat by noon, try this step-by-step method. Start with a styling leave-in treatment with heat protection — like Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray - it works well for smooth, frizz-free curls. I use a 1.5-inch barrel curling iron at 360 degrees to avoid heat damage. If you’re new to hot tools, wear a heat-protective glove like the GHD Heat Protect Glove to prevent burns. Curl each section in alternating directions — away from the face, then toward — to get volume and hold. Use a flexible hold spray like Sebastian Shaper, and let curls cool completely before touching them. At night, pull your hair into a loose ponytail on top of your head to protect the shape while you sleep. I brush mine out with fingers in the morning to keep the texture. How to look current without buying new clothes. You don’t need new trendy clothes to look current this winter. All the pieces I am wearing today I already have in my closet. Start with a white tee and a pair of wide leg jeans that minimize my wide hips and elongate legs. Let’s tuck the shirt in for warmth since it’s winter. Next I am wearing a striped blue and white shirt under a soft grey knit — easy layers that look fresh. Pin the sweater’s hem on a side to show a bit of shape. I am pairing the jeans with the sleek low heel ankle boots. The brooch and the jewelry elevate the whole look from plain to polished. I am wearing the tailored coat and structured bag to add structure without feeling stiff. Nothing can be more easy and breezy in Summer than a dress! The problem is choosing a dress that compliments your body shape. I tried several dresses and you can see how the shirt dress with a line skirt and the grey a-Line dress look best on me. It’s easy to wear in Summer because they hide everything and I don’t need a slimming smoothing underwear or a special bra. If your lip liner looks like this… it might be aging you. This is Episode 3 of my Makeup 101 series. Instead of drawing around the lip, apply liner just under the lip contour and smudge it slightly over with your finger. You still prevent lipstick from bleeding into lines — but the finish looks softer and more natural. Another tip: very dark lipsticks can also age the face after 50, so neutral shades are usually more flattering and fresh. Smile lines aging you? Here’s a simple makeup trick that uses the principle of light and shadow. When a line or indentation is deep, adding light can help soften its appearance. That’s why I apply a matte highlighter directly into the smile line before concealer. My steps: ✨ Multi-balm first to hydrate the area and help prevent creasing and caking ✨ Matte highlighter to brighten the indentation ✨ Concealer that’s slightly lighter than your skin tone. Wait a couple minutes for concealer to set before blending ✨ Brightening or translucent powder to set ✨ Finishing spray to lock everything in place I used Ilia Beauty Cornstarch Powder, but any good setting powder can work. I found 30 modern summer outfits on Pinterest that I know I can recreate with pieces I already own, so I’m recreating every single one. If you never know what to wear in summer, follow this series. By the end, you’ll have 30 easy outfit formulas you can recreate from your own closet. Outfit Formula #1 is built around a white midi skirt (cotton, poplin, or satin) paired with a fitted sleeveless waistcoat. It’s a simple combination that looks polished with very little effort.
