The hardest part for me when I first started decorated heart cakes almost 3 years ago was getting them stacked evenly, especially with a filling. . My Top Tips: • work on frozen cakes • let your crumb coat set up in the fridge • when using a filling, make a wall/dam boarder around the cake so filling doesn’t seep out the sides • seal the edges where each cake layer meets before adding the next • when frosting the top coat, make sure your frosting is really soft so it is pliable • use a warm bench scraper to get an even and smooth buttercream .
