Pretty by day, spooky by night. 🖤

The glowing pumpkins are from Pottery Barn, and I used 2 small, 2 medium, and 1 large to create the grouping down the center of the table. I also found a few similar options at a lower price point and linked those alongside the originals.

To fill in around them, I mixed taper candles at different heights with small bud vases, mostly filled with red alstroemeria, a few white roses, and eucalyptus greenery. It gave the centerpiece some height and color without adding more distinctly Halloween pieces.

Most of the rest of the table isn’t seasonal at all. The dark floral plates, runner, placemats, candlesticks, glassware, and flatware give it that darker, moodier feel but can easily be used throughout the year.

Everything I like to have on hand for an easy self-serve cocktail station when we’re entertaining.

A good beverage dispenser or pitcher, glassware, an ice bucket and a few serving pieces are usually all you need to make the setup feel intentional without overcomplicating it.

I especially like using a separate cocktail station for bigger gatherings because guests can help themselves, the main kitchen area stays a little less crowded, and you can still pull out the pretty glasses without using them for every drink being served.

These are the pieces I reach for when I want to do the cooking early and make serving later as easy as possible.

For casseroles and baked sides, I prep directly in an oven-safe serving dish, cover, refrigerate, then move it straight to the oven when it’s time to warm.

For salads, I make what I call a little salad kit: washed lettuce goes into the serving bowl, and all the toppings go into small storage containers so everything is ready to grab, toss and serve.

Those same small containers are also great for garnishes, chopped vegetables, cheese, bacon, herbs and anything else I want prepped but kept separate until the last minute.

The goal is fewer transfers, fewer dishes and less actual cooking once people are there.

A functional pantry is not about putting everything into matching containers. It is about choosing the right organizer for each category.

I use clear canisters for pantry staples, bins for grouping loose packages, divided organizers for snacks, and Lazy Susans for bottles and jars that tend to disappear in the back.

These are the stoneware pieces I reach for over and over again when we're hosting.

The rectangular bakers are perfect for casseroles, roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, baked pastas, and so many holiday side dishes. They're the workhorses I use most.

The Dutch ovens are some of the most versatile pieces I own. They're wonderful for soups, stews, chili, pot roast, braised meats, boiling pasta, and even baking artisan bread. Because they retain heat so well, they're also great for serving directly at the table and keeping food warm throughout the meal.
The smaller bakers are ideal for dips, baked brie, hot appetizers, cobblers, or smaller side dishes when you're hosting a smaller crowd.

One of my favorite hosting systems is transferring food into stoneware after cooking, then placing it in my warming drawer or on my oven's warm setting. Stoneware holds heat beautifully, so food stays warm longer even after it's moved to the buffet. It gives me a little more flexibility and takes so much of the stress out of trying to time every dish perfectly.
