Finally found the dining room chair swap I’ve been looking for.
The black finish gives me a neutral base that works with any season, while the ladderback, ball finials, and oak frame keep them from feeling too plain.
I love that they have that collected, traditional look without the luxury furniture price tag, and the cream tie-on cushions soften the black just enough.

Linked the chairs here. 🤍

If you host often, these are the serving pieces I’d buy first.

After years of entertaining, these are the pieces I reach for over and over because they work hard, mix easily, and can be used for so many different occasions.

Wooden boards for charcuterie, breads, snack boards, and appetizers. Small bowls for sauces, garnishes, berries, nuts, and all the little things that need containing. Silver trays for appetizers, glassware, beverage stations, and even decor. Glass pitchers for easy self-serve drinks. White platters for everything from fruit and vegetables to mains and desserts. And oven-to-table cookware because serving from the same pretty dish you cooked in means less cleanup and easier hosting.

I like having a few sizes in each category and building the collection slowly over time.

Linking some of my favorite versions here.

Self-serve pear gimlets for fall hosting 🍐 I love anything I can prep ahead and pull out when guests arrive. I linked my favorite finds for recreating the setup, including coupe glasses, pitchers, serving trays, bud vases, and ice sphere molds.

Covered cake stands are one of my favorite ways to make something simple feel a little more special. I use them for pastries, cakes, muffins, cookies, and easy breakfast setups when we have guests. Sharing a few beautiful options in glass, crystal, and wood that are pretty enough to leave out and practical enough to use often.

Everything I use to make a self-serve French 75 station feel pulled together without making it complicated. 🤍

A crystal pitcher for the gin, lemon juice + simple syrup, champagne flutes, a marble cooler to keep the bubbly cold, small bowls for lemon twists, bud vases for a little greenery or flowers, and a silver tray to keep the whole setup contained.

These are the kinds of pieces I use over and over again for cocktail stations, happy hour, birthdays, and dinner parties.

I linked the exact pieces I could find, plus my favorite current options for the closest lookalikes to pieces I’ve collected over the years.

These are the serving pieces I reach for almost every time we host a birthday or casual get-together.

White platters for everything from sandwiches and desserts to meats and sides, cake stands for height, small bowls for garnishes and toppings, wooden boards for appetizers, a beverage dispenser for self-serve drinks, and a party tub for keeping bottled drinks cold.

Most of these are not birthday-specific pieces, which is exactly why I love them. I can use the same collection over and over again and just change the food, flowers, and decor depending on the occasion.

I linked the exact pieces I could find, plus my favorite current options for the closest lookalikes to pieces I’ve collected over the years. 🤍

These are the pieces I reach for over and over when we’re hosting a casual BBQ dinner. They make serving easier, keep everything organized, and still make the table feel pulled together.

For the food, I use the clear bowls for pickles and sliced onions, a gravy boat for BBQ sauce, the large white platter for the meats, and the long platter for watermelon. The brie baker and Nito trio tray are perfect for serving dips, while the larger bowls work for chips, potato salad, and cucumber tomato salad.

For the drink station, I like having a serving tray, pitcher, ice bucket, and small garnish bowls all together so guests can easily help themselves.

And for serving, a plate caddy and silverware caddy keep everything in one spot and make buffet style dinners so much easier.

All of my BBQ hosting go tos are linked here, including the exact pieces I could find and a few close alternatives. 🤍

One less question on repeat at your kids’ party 🙌

Set up a self serve drink station before guests arrive so kids can grab what they need without asking every five minutes. I like using bottled drinks, cups by the dispenser, and little caddies to keep everything easy to see and easy to grab.

Such a simple setup, but it makes hosting a house full of kids feel so much easier.

Over 20 years of hosting, these are the 7 categories I’ve found myself reaching for again and again.

My own collection has been built slowly over time, so some of the exact pieces I use are old or no longer available. I linked the exact ones where I could, then rounded up my favorite current options and closest lookalikes in each category so you can choose pieces you love and build your own hosting collection over time. 🤍

A prettier way to bring muffins to a potluck. 🤍

I used the small basket for a double batch of chocolate chip pumpkin muffins and lined it with a pretty kitchen towel. It keeps the muffins nestled in place for transport, and once you arrive, the whole basket is ready to set out.

A little kitchen tour shopping guide. 🤍

I pulled together the pieces that make up the look of our kitchen and breakfast room, including lighting, seating, appliances, hardware, and a few of the details that give the space its warm, traditional feel.

Some are the exact pieces we used, and for anything no longer available, I found the closest lookalikes I could to recreate the same feel.

The serving pieces I reach for over and over when I want a casual dinner to feel a little more pulled together.

These are the baskets, gravy boats, oven-safe casseroles, serving bowls, pitchers, and small dishes that make simple meals feel more company-ready without making the table feel formal.

Pretty, practical pieces that earn their keep when you host often. 🤍

LTK:
Pretty by day, spooky by night. 🖤

The glowing pumpkins are from Pottery Barn, and I used 2 small, 2 medium, and 1 large to create the grouping down the center of the table. I also found a few similar options at a lower price point and linked those alongside the originals.

To fill in around them, I mixed taper candles at different heights with small bud vases, mostly filled with red alstroemeria, a few white roses, and eucalyptus greenery. It gave the centerpiece some height and color without adding more distinctly Halloween pieces.

Most of the rest of the table isn’t seasonal at all. The dark floral plates, runner, placemats, candlesticks, glassware, and flatware give it that darker, moodier feel but can easily be used throughout the year.

I linked the exact pieces I used where available, plus a few good alternatives for the harder-to-find or pricier pieces.

The little hosting details I reach for over and over. 🤍

Taper candles, cloth napkins, bread baskets, pretty salt and pepper, cut-glass vases, wine accessories, garnish bowls and glassware that make even an ordinary gathering feel a little more special.

I’ve linked my favorites here, including similar options where my exact pieces are older or collected.

Everything I like to have on hand for an easy self-serve cocktail station when we’re entertaining.

A good beverage dispenser or pitcher, glassware, an ice bucket and a few serving pieces are usually all you need to make the setup feel intentional without overcomplicating it.

I especially like using a separate cocktail station for bigger gatherings because guests can help themselves, the main kitchen area stays a little less crowded, and you can still pull out the pretty glasses without using them for every drink being served.
I linked the pieces I use for setups like this here. 🤍

These are the pieces I reach for when I want to do the cooking early and make serving later as easy as possible.

For casseroles and baked sides, I prep directly in an oven-safe serving dish, cover, refrigerate, then move it straight to the oven when it’s time to warm.

For salads, I make what I call a little salad kit: washed lettuce goes into the serving bowl, and all the toppings go into small storage containers so everything is ready to grab, toss and serve.

Those same small containers are also great for garnishes, chopped vegetables, cheese, bacon, herbs and anything else I want prepped but kept separate until the last minute.

The goal is fewer transfers, fewer dishes and less actual cooking once people are there.

I linked my favorite make-ahead hosting pieces here.

Coffee station favorites I actually use 🤎

I rounded up the pieces that make our coffee setup feel a little more special, including the bottles I use for homemade syrups, mugs, little plates, lighting and a few pretty details I leave out all the time.

I make homemade syrups pretty regularly, so having bottles I actually like sitting out matters to me. These are the ones I use for cinnamon syrup and other coffee syrups.

5 things I use to make hosting feel a little more special ✨

Footed serving pieces, real glassware, silver candlesticks, cut-glass vases, and vintage trays are the pieces I reach for over and over again.

Most of my flower vases have been thrifted or collected over time, so I went hunting for similar shapes and styles you can actually shop.

I linked those finds along with the flower frogs, floral foam, snips and arranging essentials I use to get a fuller look from fewer stems.

If you love the collected-vase look but don’t want to spend months hunting them down, I did the digging for you. 🤍

Hosting pieces I reach for again and again. 🤍
These are the things that make setting up for guests easier and prettier without feeling overly fussy: a polished ice bucket, marble wine chiller, oven-to-table cookware, versatile cloth napkins, neutral white platters, a decorative drink dispenser, and a timeless silver tray.
They’re useful, easy to mix into different gatherings, and pretty enough to leave out.

A functional pantry is not about putting everything into matching containers. It is about choosing the right organizer for each category.

I use clear canisters for pantry staples, bins for grouping loose packages, divided organizers for snacks, and Lazy Susans for bottles and jars that tend to disappear in the back.

I linked the pantry organizers I use to make everything easier to see, reach, and put away. 🤍

One of the simplest ways to make a pantry or refrigerator more functional!

I use separate Lazy Susans for oils, vinegars, spreads, syrups, sauces, baking ingredients, yogurts, and condiments so nothing gets lost in the back.

Shop the Lazy Susans and other pantry organizers I use below. 🤍

Clear pantry storage is one of the simplest ways to make your kitchen work better.

Being able to see what you have, how much is left, and what needs to go on the grocery list makes cooking and restocking so much easier. I gathered the glass containers I use for everything from baking staples and pasta to coffee, nuts, crackers, and snacks.

When choosing a size, check the package you normally buy and choose a container with a little extra room so the entire package fits without overflow.

These are the stoneware pieces I reach for over and over again when we're hosting.

The rectangular bakers are perfect for casseroles, roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, baked pastas, and so many holiday side dishes. They're the workhorses I use most.

The Dutch ovens are some of the most versatile pieces I own. They're wonderful for soups, stews, chili, pot roast, braised meats, boiling pasta, and even baking artisan bread. Because they retain heat so well, they're also great for serving directly at the table and keeping food warm throughout the meal.
The smaller bakers are ideal for dips, baked brie, hot appetizers, cobblers, or smaller side dishes when you're hosting a smaller crowd.

One of my favorite hosting systems is transferring food into stoneware after cooking, then placing it in my warming drawer or on my oven's warm setting. Stoneware holds heat beautifully, so food stays warm longer even after it's moved to the buffet. It gives me a little more flexibility and takes so much of the stress out of trying to time every dish perfectly.

These are the exact pieces I use in our home year after year. 🤍
