As a pharmacist, I’ve seen how life-changing hormones can be for women in midlife.

But I’ve also seen the other side where women are doing “everything right”—starting hormones—and still feeling exhausted, inflamed, and frustrated.

Many women are surprised that they don’t immediately start feeling better when starting HRT and some do!

Hormones are powerful but they are not a replacement for the foundations your body still depends on.

✨ Sleep is where your body repairs

✨ Muscle is what protects your metabolism

✨ Nutrition that fuels your day

✨ Consistency is what actually creates change

Midlife isn’t about chasing one solution. Now more than ever it is about supporting your body from every angle.

Ageless isn’t just about fixing hormones.

It’s about protecting your energy—daily.

Agree or surprised? I’d truly love to hear where you are in your journey.

So much has changed at the pharmacy!!

Check out my favorite supplements that I recommend NOW for sleep and also for gut health too!

These four supplements are science backed to help with anxiety, as a pharmacist, always surprised more women don’t know about them!

Here’s what the research actually says about anxiety in midlife… (and what helps).

Feeling overwhelmed, wired, or just not like yourself lately?

It’s not “just stress.” Hormonal shifts in midlife can directly impact mood, sleep, and anxiety levels.

As a pharmacist of 37 years—and a woman in midlife myself—these are the supplements backed by studies I pay attention to:

✨ Magnesium

Shown to improve anxiety and depression scores on validated scales—especially in women under stress.

✨ Vitamin D

Low levels are strongly linked to mood disorders. Supplementation has been shown to improve symptoms of generalized anxiety.

✨ Ashwagandha

An adaptogen clinically studied to lower cortisol and significantly improve scores on the Hamilton Anxiety Scale.

✨ Probiotics

Your gut and brain are deeply connected and specific strains have been shown to reduce anxiety and support mood ( look for lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium) .

🕒 Most studies show benefits in as little as 4–12 weeks and quality, dosing, and consistency matter.

And always check with your healthcare provider before starting anything new, especially if you’re already dealing with anxiety.

As a pharmacist and a woman going through menopause myself, I see this all the time…

Women struggling with feminine dryness, itching, and discomfort—but feeling too embarrassed to talk about it.

So many ladies just assume it’s “normal” after menopause and suffer in silence.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

That’s why I love Radiancy—a thoughtfully formulated blend designed to support women from the inside out during midlife.

✨ A probiotic blend to help support vaginal flora and balanced pH

✨ Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Sakura to support healthy, glowing skin

✨ Collagen, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid for hydration and natural lubrication

The best part? While supporting feminine wellness, it’s also helping support healthier skin and hair, because feeling confident in midlife matters.

Menopause isn’t the end of feeling like yourself…

it’s the start of taking care of yourself in a new way.

✨ If you’re ready to support your body from the inside out, check out Radiancy today!

When you’re 60 but still feel you’re 30…here are 3 multitasking supplements that can help you keep up!

⭐️ Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3s support brain health and cardiovascular health—especially important as estrogen declines in midlife. They can also help reduce inflammation, support mood, and may even contribute to that healthy skin glow.

⭐️ A Probiotic

A quality probiotic can support gut health, immunity, and mood (hello ageless attitude). Better gut health may also help with regularity and reduce bloating so you can feel your confident best.

⭐️ Collagen Support

Women can lose up to 30% of collagen in the first five years of menopause, and levels continue to decline each year. Supporting collagen can help with bone health, joints, hair, and skin.

I’m a pharmacist of 37 years and have recommended tens of thousands of over-the-counter products.

Here are three many women over 50 have never heard of… but should.

🔅 Prelief – This calcium-based tablet removes up to 90% of the acid from foods like coffee, orange juice, tomatoes, and tomato sauces.

These foods can trigger symptoms for women with painful bladder, overactive bladder, or after a recent UTI.

It can also help reduce GI irritation from acidic foods.

🔅 Estroven Complete – Contains rhapontic rhubarb extract, which can help reduce hot flashes and support sleep and mood during menopause.

🔅 Azo Standard – The OTC version of phenazopyridine, often prescribed for burning and urinary pain with UTIs.

It can help relieve symptoms until you’re able to see your doctor for testing.

Important note: it turns urine orange/red, which won’t affect bacterial growth in a urine culture but can affect the quick dipstick test done in some offices.

Bonus: Azo also makes a great pumpkin seed supplement that may help support bladder control.

As a pharmacist, here are THREE over-the-counter products I rarely recommend:

✨ Gummy Vitamins

Many are loaded with added sugar that can quietly add up. A good guideline is less than 25g of added sugar per day ( American Heart Association recommendation for women). Some gummies also contain corn syrup. If you choose gummies, read the label—some are lower in sugar than others.

✨ OTC Sleep Aids

Many contain diphenhydramine or other anticholinergic medications (including some nighttime pain relievers). Long-term use has been linked to cognitive decline. I often suggest melatonin, magnesium, or lavender instead. Magnesium lotions like Glow by Hormone University an also support relaxation.

✨ Fiber Supplements

Many provide only ~2g of fiber per serving, while the daily recommendation is 25–30g. Whole foods like raspberries, avocados, vegetables, chia seeds and flax are great ways to increase fiber.

Reminder: Supplements can still cause side effects. Always check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting something new.

Three Simple Steps I took to reduce Bloating and Inflammation in my Body.

Reducing inflammation can transform your energy, mood, and even your skin. I often notice inflammation showing up as puffiness in my face..

I started by cutting back on these big triggers:

🚫 Gums & fillers like guar gum and xanthum gum (often hiding in “healthy” foods & snacks). I switched from the vegan protein that I had used for years to a grass fed beef protein.

🚫 Refined sugar- I look at sugar content for EVERYTHING and aim for less than the 25g per day recommended by the American Heart Association for women.

🚫 Gluten & dairy (common culprits for bloating and joint pain) . I learned I was gluten and lactose intolerant through DNA testing.

Bonus:

✅ I Add in Omega 3 Fatty Acids through supplementation and food and also use Quercetin a supplement that is often thought of as a natural antihistamine that can be helpful for inflammation.

Honestly, I started to see puffiness and inflammation disappear within a month and continue to reduce while following this plan.

See below for my favorite supplements that I use in my inflammation reduction journey!

Pass this along to someone who may want to see this too!

As a pharmacist, I would never ignore this trio of supplements when it comes to bloating and gut health.

🔥 My supplement trio that never fails:

• Probiotic for gut balance ( I take before bedtime to stay regular)

• Digestive enzymes (a MUST if you’re 50+)

• Magnesium glycinate to keep things moving + keep YOU calm

My favorites are by @pureencapsulations — and total menopause MUST HAVES.

Also, 💯 THE fan-favorite I keep hearing in my DMs:

Bloating SOS by @glowbyhormoneuniversity — the product friends recommend to friends… who recommend to more friends.

Formulated with Morosil (red blood orange extract) for antioxidant support, inflammation balance, and smoother digestion.

Someone once told me hunger isn’t the enemy… although 80’s diet culture tried to convinced me it was..

And honestly, I haven’t been the same since.

Anyone who grew up with teen years in the 80’s learned to:

Ignore hunger

Push through it

Eat less

After I met with a dietitian from @Faynutrition I learned hunger isn’t a flaw.

It’s one of the simplest ways our body communicates with us.

In midlife, learning to listen to those signals becomes even more important.

✨ Our metabolism still needs fuel.

✨ Our muscles need protein.

✨ Our brain needs nourishment.

✨ We need to feel like ourselves again, not exhausted and less than vibrant.

Constantly undereating, skipping meals, or trying to outsmart hunger often backfires — leading to fatigue, cravings, and feeling completely out of sync with your body.

What changed for me was shifting my mindset from restriction to nourishment.

Instead of asking “How little can I eat? I concentrated on fueling my body.

I increased protein to build muscle and keep my metabolism humming.

I will eat before bedtime if I’m hungry instead of waking up at 3:00 AM with my heart racing and cortisol spiking.

I also stop when I’m full and feel so much less bloated ( I also listen to my body and have cut out foods where I have an intolerance.

Midlife isn’t about fighting our bodies, it is about learning to work with them. I would love to hear your thoughts on this too!
