The definition of “essential” is a thing that is absolutely necessary. While the list I’ve curated of Essentials is helpful to build a base for your closet, they don’t exactly hit the fullness of that word. But what is absolutely necessary in life is hope. Out of that hope, action. As we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I want to encourage you all to read his letter from the Birmingham jail. It’s a long letter that always makes me cry, but it’s well worth the time it’ll take to read. He once said "Make a career of humanity. Commit yourself to the noble struggle for equal rights. You will make a better person of yourself, a greater nation of your country, and a finer world to live in." With that, start with your neighbor. Then go on to the next. Find your stranger we’ve talked about. Someone to be kind to. Action can begin there, and travel in varying degrees to creating a movement. Just don’t let another day go by without active hope full of love for humanity. #LTKFind
