We stopped at Mount Vernon on the way home from Irvington, VA, (it’s about halfway between there & Philadelphia) & it was an incredible experience! I couldn’t believe how much land there was! The view of the Potomac was stunning & I was surprised to learn that the view probably hasn’t changed much since Washington lived there. It was pretty special to be able to walk the grounds where George Washington lived & worked… even if most of the house is currently under restoration. This was my first time here but I hope it’s not my last! The gardens were absolutely beautiful & we only saw about half of the property during the hour & a half that we were there. There really is so much to see & the kids loved it just as much as we did! historicalhouse historicaltrip LTKKids LTKTravel
