With summer just around the corner, the possibilities are endless. Sweet summertime is all about fun in the sun, long days, and looking good while doing it. 😂

I've teamed up with @amazonfashion to show you how to style these "Hawaiian Shirts." I was also able to find the ones with the bigger collars so I could put them over my lapels.

Fun fact, while men did sport the collar over the lapel look in the ‘30s, they sometimes paired it with a cravat (rather than necktie)! Wearing one's collar outside didn't go away -- in fact, you can find pictures of celebrities in the '50s and early '60s doing it. And now we are back in 2022 doing the same thing. That's why I love classic menswear... it's timeless!

Sneakers and a suit are the ultimate contrast. If do decide to go the sneakers route, I’d recommend that you do not wear a shirt and tie. Go with a turtle neck or a v-neck t-shirt. Your slacks should have no breaks and show some socks or ankles. Having any breaks would look sloppy. Remember, you can’t just throw on your everyday running shoes with any suit. Your suit needs to be modern, fitted, and sleek, hence having no breaks — and so do your sneakers.

Sneakers should also be as smooth as your suit. Not bulky with logos all over it. For starters, go with low-tops.

I’ve been using @metproco as my nutrition, fitness and lifestyle coaching app. This has been the thing I needed that literally tells me what to do. I deadass just need someone to think for me 😂 There's even plans that include an actual human coach to talk to and guide you through the process. What I can eat and the portions are all done for me based on my needs. And I can still have rice (within reason 😭😂) Shoutout to Coach Shannon!

@onepeloton has been my workout of choice recently. Just been absorbing @codyrigsby content to get my day started.

Would y’all wanna learn more about my fitness journey? This has been a personal thing and I know that talking about stuff like this can be very subjective. At the end of the day I just want to bring you value.

Here I am wearing a custom navy suit with orange accessories. If you don’t know how to combine colors, look towards sport teams and flags! Let’s look at The Bronx’s flag. 🧡🤍💙

The Bronx (always “The Bronx”, never just “Bronx”) flies a flag of three horizontal orange-white-royal blue stripes with the Borough Seal on a white disc in the center, overlapping the upper and lower stripes. The Bronx borough flag was adopted in 1912. It is described as the Dutch colonial flag (the Prinsenvlag of orange, white, and blue horizontal stripes), with the addition of the Bronck family arms encircled by a laurel wreath denoting honor and fame. #florsheimPartner Rain is fine and dandy. I’ve been DREAMING of water proof OXFORDS for the longest time. @florsheimshoes recently introduced the FORECAST, a collection of water proof oxfords. The best undershirts aren’t supposed to be seen. Consider a skin toned or grey shirt. This will prevent your undershirt from being seen through your shirt.

The purpose of an undershirt is to protect your shirt and absorb sweat! So stop using tank tops since they expose your underarm and back to your shirt.

You can use a crew neck , but I prefer v necks since if I want to wear my shirt unbuttoned at the top, you will not see the undershirt.

Suit sizes:

Blazer 42R
Trousers 34R
Waistcoat 40R

Key thing with any suit: alterations!

For this suit, the blazer and pants definitely needed modifications for my body type. When you see that R for the trousers you need to factor in hemming the pants (unless you are mad tall??). I had the pants tapered since I love a slimmer look and added cuffs because of the thick fabric. I had a massive brain fart and asked for a 1 inch cuff instead of a 2. While it looks ok, I will be going back to change this. Luckily there enough fabric to make it happen.

The blazer fits well however the issue for me is the sleeves. R for me means "ready to get this altered." Once again, I had some miscommunications with my tailor because I usually want to show lots of cuff. It's a personal preferences of mine! But as you can see here, only a micro bit of sleeve can be seen. I did position myself in the other image to see the sleeve. The blazer will also be going back to get alterations.

I don't blame the tailor on this, just me for not being clear and going too fast 😭

While no one is completely sure exactly when or why this fashion rule came into effect, the best guess is that it had to do with snobbery in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

The "you can't wear white after Labor Day," rule was created to separate the old money elitists from the new money group. "It [was] insiders trying to keep other people out," according to Valerie Steele, director of the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, in an interview with Time, "and outsiders trying to climb in by proving they know the rules."

For those who had money and could leave the city during warmer months, white was considered vacation attire. "If you look at any photograph of any city in America in the 1930s, you'll see people in dark clothes," Charlie Scheips, author of American Fashion, has said. Meanwhile, white linen suits and Panama hats were considered the "look of leisure."

In short, if you lived in the dirty city, you wore dark clothes. If you were wealthy enough to escape to a vacation home for the summer, you wore white “leisure” looks — until it was time to return to urban life, that is.
