Rechargeable under-cabinet lighting gave me the cozy kitchen vibe I wanted for about $60 — no electrician needed. 🙌✨

Most of my under-cabinet lighting is hardwired, but after we removed the old wine rack, I was left with a dark spot over the coffee station.

So I tried rechargeable lights there AND inside my newly styled glass cabinets. They’re magnetic, dimmable, controlled with a remote, and I keep them on the warm setting for that soft glow at night.

And before anyone says it… NO, I don’t turn every light in the kitchen on at once. 😂 It’s all about layering the lighting depending on the mood.

This is my first time trying rechargeable lights, so if you have them, tell me — did yours last?

A kitchen runner rug is something I wish I had added 20 years ago. 😂

When my kids were younger and I was in my hosting era, there was NO way I would’ve put a runner in this kitchen because I was convinced it would get destroyed.

Well… instead, the hardwood floor got destroyed. 🤦‍♀️😂

I originally tried an 8-foot runner, but it felt too short and the colors were too cool against the granite and backsplash. I switched to this 10-foot runner with warmer rust tones and I love how it ties the colors together, adds softness AND hides some of that floor damage.

Now the real test… can my adult family keep it clean? 😂

Café curtains are one kitchen trend I’m actually willing to try. 😂✨

I know I said I wasn’t changing my kitchen window treatments… but apparently I changed my mind.

I made the Roman shades about 8 years ago and I still LOVE the Kelly Wearstler fabric, but as I’ve been styling this kitchen, I wanted this area to feel lighter and softer.

These pinch-pleat café curtains were under $50 per window, let in so much more natural light and can still be closed at night for privacy.

Yes, café curtains are trending — but I’ve learned there’s a big difference between experimenting with an affordable trend and committing to an expensive permanent finish. 😂

This kitchen hand towel holder is just what I needed for under the cabinet. This way, the towels that I used to wipe the counter won’t be left on the counter. I could just hang them on the rod to dry.

Layered kitchen lighting can completely change how your kitchen feels. ✨

For Episode 8 of decorating my 20-year-old kitchen instead of renovating it, I’m working with the lighting I already have and adding a couple of inexpensive table lamps.

I like to think about lighting in three layers: general, task and accent. And one of the easiest ways to make a kitchen feel warmer at night is to add a little accent lighting.

My other tip: 2700K bulbs for that warm, soft glow. 🤎

I love turning off the overhead lights at night and just leaving the table lamps and under-cabinet lighting on.

20 Years Later | Episode 18 🏡

The new kitchen faucet is finally installed! 🙌

My husband thought he could install it himself... until he looked under the sink. 😂 Thankfully, his friend got it done the day before he left for the Dominican Republic for 20 days.

We ended up choosing the transitional faucet, and once we saw it installed, we knew it was the right choice. I actually think the slightly larger size helps draw your eye away from our dated backsplash while we decide what to do next.

The matching soap dispenser is still on backorder, so the kitchen isn't quite finished yet.

Someone suggested updating the leaded glass instead of painting the cabinets.

And honestly… once I saw the backsplash changed to subway tile, I started seeing the cabinets completely differently 😂

Now I’m wondering if the original leaded glass might actually work again with a few updates.

Maybe the cabinets aren’t actually the problem 👀

So many people told me to try updating the hardware before painting these 20 year old cherry kitchen cabinets… so I tested some leftover pulls from our bathroom remodel 😂

Honestly? It changed the look more than I expected.

I would LOVE to take these 20 year old kitchen cabinets to the ceiling.

But the recessed lights and AC vent over the fridge make it way more complicated than just boxing it out and adding crown molding.

So my question is…

Do I paint them the wall color, Classic Gray, and leave the open space…

Or do you have another solution?

20 years ago we added this front porch… and honestly it’s still one of the best investments we made. 💕

It became an extension of our home and one of our favorite places to relax when the weather is nice.

The furniture is definitely dated now 😂 but instead of replacing everything, we refreshed the space with new cushions, pillows, rugs, lighting, and a few updated accessories.

It’s a good reminder that not every space needs a full renovation to feel updated again.

Although… between my neighbor’s new driveway project covering everything in dust and my porch lights suddenly deciding to stop working 🤦🏽‍♀️ apparently this porch still likes to keep me humble 😂
