For the first two years, my Fiddle Leaf Fig grew, but very slowly. In 2025, I started feeding it consistently, and that’s when I saw a huge shift. More new leaves, stronger growth, and it just kept going. Now in 2026, it’s still pushing out new growth. I always get asked where I find large clear nursery pots for my bigger plants — and after searching everywhere, this is the widest one I’ve found at 11.65 inches. They come in a pack of 3 and each pot includes its own tray (which I love).

Tall containers can be tricky when your plant doesn’t quite reach the top.

Yes — you can flip an empty nursery container upside down to create extra lift. I’ve done it before, and it works in a pinch.

But I’ve found they can shift over time, especially with heavier plants or after watering. The last thing I want is movement inside a planter that’s holding a big, heavy plant.

I prefer using something built to handle the weight — it feels more secure, more intentional, and it comes in multiple sizes so you can match it to different pots and plants.

And after lifting that thing into place… I’m not redoing it. 💪🌿

My fiddle leaf fig sits right by a west-facing window, so it gets lots of bright afternoon light. ☀️🌿

Since that afternoon sun can get pretty strong, I use light-filtering blinds to soften the direct sunlight while still keeping the room nice and bright.

Fiddles LOVE light, and they usually do best much closer to a bright window than people realize. If yours isn’t growing the way you’d like, its light might be the first thing to check.

Mealybugs will humble you real quick.

If you see white, fuzzy spots on your plant, don’t ignore it. They spread fast, but you can get ahead of it with a simple routine.

Here’s the safe spray I use:

• 1 quart water, 4 cups
• 1/4 teaspoon Dr. Bronner’s peppermint soap

Shake gently and spray the entire plant. Get under the leaves, along the stems, and into every crevice.

Then wipe the plant down to remove anything left behind.

Repeat every 5 to 7 days until they’re gone.

For heavier infestations, you’ll need something stronger.

Push the spike into your soil, add water to the bottom of the outer pot, and it slowly wicks moisture up to the roots automatically. No complicated setup, nothing fancy.

The plant mess stays right here, not all over my house 🌿
Say hello to my mobile potting and repotting station.

It’s on wheels, so I can roll it wherever my plants need me. I added a cooling rack on top, make sure it’s at least 16 inches long, and it creates the perfect mess free surface for repotting smaller plants.

I seriously cannot wait to see this tree grow. If it gets anywhere close to the size of my 14 foot fiddle leaf fig, it’s going to be absolutely stunning.

Here’s how I’m caring for it.

• Give it plenty of bright light. The white parts of the leaves don’t photosynthesize, so the green parts need enough light to support the whole plant.

• Water when the top few inches of soil feel dry, then water thoroughly. I add fiddle leaf fig fertilizer, and gnat drops to every watering.

• Plant it in a nursery pot with excellent drainage holes, and use a soil mix made for fiddle leaf figs.

• Rotate it every couple of weeks so it grows evenly.

If you’ve been wanting one, look for a smaller plant. They’re usually much more affordable, and it’s so rewarding to watch them grow.

Fresh herbs within arm’s reach while you cook just makes life easier.

This is the base soil mix I use for most of my houseplants, and it has made repotting so much easier.

My recipe:
🌿 1 part potting soil
🤍 1 part perlite
🪵 1 part orchid bark

Why I love it:
• Potting soil holds moisture and nutrients.
• Perlite improves drainage and keeps the mix light.
• Orchid bark adds airflow and helps prevent compacted soil.

From there, I make small adjustments depending on the plant.

For example:
🌱 Monstera: I add a little extra orchid bark for even more airflow and drainage.
🌿 Peace lily: I add a little more potting soil because they prefer to stay evenly moist.
🌸 Hoya: I add a little extra perlite and orchid bark since they like a chunkier, faster draining mix.

Having a big batch mixed and stored in a sealed container means I’m always ready when a plant needs repotting.
