Post with purpose 3 - One way to be honest to yourself, self-reflection. We meet a lot of folks online and offline, some we mesh well with, some we don’t vibe with. In order to start knowning who you truly are, self-reflect on yourself why you don’t like someone. Is it because of ideals or is it because they seem much happier and has everything going for them. There was a girl I met during my early days of career, she was beautiful and smart. I didn’t like her, She had all the answers and was always part of events and networking. She seemed perfect. After some time of ignoring her, I self-reflected on myself, because it was bothering me every day. I wanted to know what was the cause instead of just hating on her for no reason. I clearly knew I was insecure whenever she was around, she had the aura and amazing energy that captivated everyone around her. I had to dig deep in myself to get to the problem and write it down so I could see it. Insecurity is a big demon that we all have to deal with some point. But if you don’t work on it, it will never get better. You will remain at the same spot, unhappy in those situations. Insecurity is manifested by cultures and environment (competition) we grow up in, it is important to be aware of behavior especially when you are raising children. Self-reflection over the years have made me a happy and confident person. It is a helpful tool not only for your personal life but for your professional. Self reflection is never ending process, the world is not perfect and it never will be. So the best you can do is be honest to yourself. Practice self-reflection when things or people or situations bother you. Spend time understanding why you act or react a certain way. Hope you all enjoy your rest of the week.
