At one point last year I looked at our headboard and thought… this cannot stay. 😅

After years of use (kids climbing into bed, morning coffee spills, everyday life), the fabric had officially crossed into the “this is kind of gross” category.

So I started hunting for a replacement. What I really wanted was a patterned headboard with a little character. But every option I loved was way out of our price range.

Then I realized I already had a fabric I couldn’t stop thinking about. A pattern I’d been using in our dining room for years and loved more every time I pulled it out.

So instead of buying a new bed, we reupholstered the one we had… using a tablecloth.

And because it’s linen, the more it’s washed and lived with, the softer it becomes over time.

Dear algorithm, I am once again asking for…

Women who love old houses more than Target runs.
Who think a quiet afternoon at home counts as plans.
Who collect teacups, throw pillows, and “just one more lamp.”

Who crave beauty and calm… while living in the chaos of motherhood.

Women who are tired, sentimental, slightly overstimulated…but still determined to make life feel warm and meaningful anyway. 🤍

If that sounds like you, I think you just found your corner of the internet.

Hi, I’m Tessa. Welcome home. 🏡

For a long time, I thought life would look different.

A bigger house.
A newer kitchen.
A faster path to the “finished” version of everything.

But somewhere along the way, living in this 1920s home and raising our family here, something shifted.

I slowly started letting go of the life I thought I was supposed to build… and began embracing the one right in front of me.

The small kitchen.
The quirks of an old house.
Spaces layered slowly over time.

This home has taught me that beauty isn’t found in bigger or newer. It’s found in paying attention and learning to love what you already have.

If that kind of life resonates with you, I think you might feel at home here.

Welcome. 🤍

I almost painted our dark wood trim… and now I’m so glad I didn’t.

When we first moved into our 1920s home, the dark wood trim felt heavy and overwhelming. I’ll be honest, I almost painted it.

But living with it over the years has taught me a few things…

Dark wood trim isn’t something you fight. It’s something you design with.

It adds depth. Warmth. History. And when you learn how to work around it, it becomes the very thing that makes a home feel grounded and timeless.

These are some of the things I’ve learned after eight years of living alongside it. And now I can’t imagine this home without it.

If you have dark trim, tell me… do you love it, tolerate it, or are you still trying to figure it out?

Save this if you’re working with wood trim in your own home.

I usually like to wrap things up into a pretty, aesthetic video. But sometimes you just have to be real real… the kind of real where you strip away the polish and show what it actually looked like along the way.

The Pink Room, as it’s now known, wasn’t always pink. It went through so many versions before I ever landed here. And the craziest part? I almost painted over this color after the first coat because I didn’t think I liked it.

That’s the honest truth. And it’s also proof that sometimes the best thing you can do with a design choice is sit with it for a minute. Let it settle. Let it show you who it’s going to be.

Have you ever almost undone something you now love? Tell me below… I want to hear your stories 💗

Antique-inspired cups and mugs that make even an ordinary cup of coffee feel a little more special. ☕️ I love pieces that feel collected over time—delicate details, warm tones, and that charming old-world feel. Sharing a few favorites that bring vintage character to everyday moments.

We didn’t buy the builder-grade, cookie-cutter house in our 20s… and honestly, I’m so glad we didn’t.

Not because we didn’t want the ease of a move-in-ready home, but because it simply wasn’t an option for us at the time.

The truth is, we couldn’t afford the polished, brand-new kind of place back then. But if I’m being honest, I’m not sure we ever really wanted it either.

So instead, we found the most charming, overlooked little house. The one with good bones and a story to tell.

And layer by layer, room by room, we’ve slowly made it ours.

Not perfect, but personal.
Not easy, but full of heart.

If you love old homes, antique finds, and creating a home that tells a story, you’ll feel right at home here.

Greenhouse tour!! Who’s ready?!?!

If you’re someone who likes getting projects done fast, well then…take heart in our garden project! 🤪 We are almost TWO YEARS into this project and I’m not gonna lie to you, there were a lot of times I didn’t think it was going to happen 😬🙃

But like ALLLL good things….they take time (and a steadfast heart to see them through 💪🏼). Let this project remind you that it’s ok to move slow (or at least feel better about your current circumstances 🤣)

Tell me….what should we start growing in here first??
