Even though the Pink Room naturally feels like it was made for Valentine’s Day, it felt right to lean in and add a few extra touches of whimsy, pink, and red.

These scalloped polka dot sheets were the starting point for this mini refresh, and when I found the pink gingham Valentine’s Day lumbar pillows, it truly felt like a little textile dream.

Everything else is bedding I’ve collected over the years. I simply swapped a few duvet covers and mixed and matched pillowcases. One of my favorite things is getting to shop our own linen closet.

Should I do a pattern-mixing series?

And if you’d like to shop some of my favorite finds from the Pink Room, including these sheets, just COMMENT below 🤍

Over the years, I’m always asked about our trim…

Is it original?
What paint did you use?
What stain matches it best?

The trim in our home is original to our 1920s Craftsman, but if you’re trying to recreate that same timeless, traditional look, the closest match we’ve found is Early American by Minwax.

It’s warm, classic, and has that old-home depth that never feels trendy.

Save this for future reference if you love rich, character-filled trim 🤎

I get asked all the time...how do you mix patterns and while I don’t have a “formula” for it.

These are a few foundational tips that I come back to every time:

• Start classic. A medium-scale floral paired with a medium-scale stripe is always a safe, beautiful foundation. The colors on this don’t even have to match!

• Play with scale. Mix a small gingham print, with a bold block print, and a medium floral print to create balance and visual interest. Color cohesion is important here; you want them to feel like they are “related” but NOT closely related!

• Repeat a pattern in different colors. Using the same motif (in my case...gingham) in different colors keeps things cohesive without feeling too matchy.

• Add a pause. A solid fabric gives the eye a place to rest and lets your patterns shine.

If pattern mixing has ever felt intimidating, SAVE this and come back to it the next time you’re styling a room 🤍

Slow Supper Sunday 🍽️ Today’s recipe: Chicken Devon

This dinner has been passed down from my mom (and probably her mom before that). It’s a staple in our home and so so easy! You can do it crockpot style or in the oven!

RECIPE:

•3-4 large chicken breasts (cut into small pieces)
•1/2 yellow or white onion (diced)
•1/2 stick of butter
•1 can of cream of mushroom soup
•1 can of cream of chicken soup
•1 cup of sour cream

DIRECTIONS:
•cut up chicken breasts (add to crockpot or baking dish)
•Sauté onion in 4 TBS of butter till clear
•Add onions to chicken
•Cook on high for 4-6 hours or low for 6-8 hours
•An hour before serving, combine cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, and sour cream in a pan till blended
•Add to chicken in crockpot
•After an hour gently shred chicken into small pieces
•Serve over rice

* if you choose to do this in the oven all you have to do is after you sautÊ your onions, add in the sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup together and pour over your chicken. You will then bake this covered for an hour at 350° and then uncover it for an additional 30 minutes.

Tell me, would you add this to your weekly dinner menu?

WHERE DO WE LIVE???? We have been getting this question a lot lately since building the greenhouse…I think it’s confusing people 🤣🤪 but we actually live in Central Illinois and the reason we are building it now is b/c my husband (who owns a construction company) had a small lull in his schedule so they decided to get a jump start on it.
Etsy patterned home decor finds I’m loving right now — perfect for adding character, texture, and a collected feel to your home.

This coat is so warm….i was not expecting that. Usually it takes me like a solid 15 min to WARM-WARM up (plus it’s like -10 out) but today I wasn’t even 5 min into walking and SWEATING 🥵

*realized I never took the tag off too 🤣
Layered patterns, timeless textures, and those little details that make a room feel collected instead of staged. ✨ These Woven Nook pillow covers are the perfect way to refresh a space without a full overhaul—mixing checks, stripes, and florals for that cozy, heritage-inspired look I love.

Bought this quarter zip and wasn’t even going to try it on b/c I was afraid of the color the minute I brought it home 😆😜 can you relate to that?

But then I put it on and I kind of LOVE it!

I saw this video on tiktok of an 80 year old woman who says she does handstands everyday to help with her balance, strength, and more so I thought today, I’m going to start doing them everyday too! I used to be a diver in college so handstands were basically another way I walked around 😆 but now they are so much harder! Maybe I should work up to being able to do them without the wall 🤪😆

V-Day Inspired: Strawberry Glaze Cake 🍰🍓 this recipe came from @nurturednutrition_

Her full recipe is below, followed by a few things I would have done slightly different the next time I make this 😍

For the Bread
	•	¾ cup granulated sugar
	•	½ cup milk
	•	½ cup olive oil
	•	1 large egg
	•	1 teaspoon vanilla extract
	•	2 cups all-purpose flour
	•	2 teaspoons baking powder
	•	½ teaspoon salt
	•	2 cups diced strawberries, tossed with 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

For the Glaze
	•	2 cups powdered sugar
	•	2 tablespoons melted butter
	•	⅓ cup finely diced strawberries
	•	½ teaspoon vanilla extract
	•	1–2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk, as needed to thin

Instructions
1.	Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
2.	In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, milk, olive oil, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
3.	In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir just until combined.
4.	In a small bowl, toss the diced strawberries with the 2 tablespoons of flour. Gently fold the strawberries into the batter.
5.	Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6.	Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
7.	To make the glaze, stir together the powdered sugar, melted butter, diced strawberries, and vanilla. Add cream or milk a tablespoon at a time until the glaze reaches your desired consistency.
8.	Once the loaf has fully cooled, spoon the glaze over the top. Slice, serve, and enjoy.

*if I were to make this again, I’d probably substitute butter for olive oil. I love the way real butter tastes vs oil in cakes.
** I’d add one more tablespoon of milk (I did 2) to thin the glaze slightly more (mine was much thicker than hers).
*** wait a little longer to serve as it was a bit crumbly when cutting (but still just as delicious)!

All in all, this was such a refreshing treat, perfect to celebrate with all the people you ❤️

What’s something in your life that didn’t turn out how you planned… but you’re grateful for anyway?

I’ll be honest… in this season of uncertainty that my family and I find ourselves in, regarding my sister‘s recent cancer diagnosis, I struggle most days to find the light at the end of the tunnel.

I know that often times the struggles that we face in our life can be used to refine us, shape us and mold us into an even better version of ourselves, but getting into that version is never an easy road.

So I’m curious… what’s something in your life that didn’t go as planned and maybe felt like the end of the road for you in some respect but ended up being a blessing in disguise?
