✨WAYS TO UPDATE YOUR HOME: UNDER $100✨

Last week I shared my favorite ways to update a home for free and mentioned I was going to make it a series, so without further ado, let’s get to it! It’s pretty amazing with a small amount of money what you can do and make a big impact!

1) PAINT—okay, I can’t emphasize this enough, PAINT, PAINT, PAINT! A room, a wall, a door, trim, a piece of furniture, the options are endless! Whether you want moody or neutral, bright and bold, or light and airy paint can change the entire vibe of a space. And do everyone a favor and skip the internet. Just pick a color that brings joy (but samples are your friend 🙃)

2) PEEL AND STICK TILE: we used this in our laundry room and it’s still one of my favorite DIYs to date. It literally changes the look of the entire space and is relatively easy to complete! We’ve had ours two years now with zero issues. I’ve seen the backsplash tiles that also look amazing! It’s a great way to test out a look, too, before fully committing.

3) WAINSCOTING/MOULDING: a 4x8 panel of beadboard costs under $25 at Home Depot. We’ve used this in our laundry room and my younger son’s room. It’s a very beginner friendly DIY! Adding a chair rail or frame moulding can also be inexpensive depending how many walls you are completing and on the size of the room.

4) ARTWORK: I love to buy artwork on Etsy or my favorite @collectionprints! I oftentimes buy digital downloads to save on cost and you can have them printed so many places. I prefer to splurge a little more on larger pieces and prefer glicée prints! Thrift frames to save on money or sometimes HomeGoods has really awesome deals, too 🙌🏻

5) STEMS: Swapping out stems can be a fun way to add some color to a space. If you have a black thumb like me 🙃 there are so many faux stems look very realistic. It’s a great way to refresh a space each season, too!

Anything else you would add to this list? Let me know in the comments! 👇🏻

✨AMAZON THROW PILLOW COVERS✨

If you’re looking for a designer look but at a more affordable price point, there are SO many good options out there. I LOVE pattern play in pillows! It’s a fun way to add in some different elements to the space without it feeling overwhelming.

When choosing throw pillows, typically I choose a general color palette. This could go with the seasons, be neutral, or pull from your room’s color palette. I use some type of solid (usually with a subtle pattern mixed in for extra dimension) and then I’ll typically mix in a simple print and a busier print.

If you’re looking for help with choosing color palettes and styling/sizing, be on the lookout soon for a blog post with my tips and tricks! 🙌🏻

Grabbed this for a little giveaway I’m doing but this scent is to die for! Especially for fall and winter. It’s a really warm, sexy scent. Only $25 for this size and CLEAN ingredients!

@taymbrown shared this dress last week and it was so pretty I added it to my cart immediately!

Wanted to also mention that this fabric is incredibly soft and comfortable. It’s stretchy so it has some give to it, but it fits so nicely without being too restrictive. Perfect length—would look great with heels or a boot! Just shy of 5’4” for reference. Under $90.

cozy season lover 🍂🤎🍁☕️🕯️

I have really come to love summer more and more since having kids, but there’s something about when the temps drop to the 60s, the windows are open, a candle is going, and being cozied up on the couch with a good book that really hits for me.

My home ✨shines✨ in autumn. I think because I am drawn to such earthy, rich colors she just really comes to life at this time of year. 🍂🤎 Happiest in my home in the fall (but also have the itch to do ALL the projects too 🙃). I love having the windows open, football on, a candle going, and some good soup on the stove. Nothing feels like home in the fall!

When do you enjoy your home the most?!

Just grabbed this table recently on sale and the color is 😍😍👌🏻 The quality is great for the price! It is not a solid wood, but a veneer. But it looks so realistic and doesn’t have any repeated patterns. Love the chunky look of the legs and the edge. It’s hollow inside so it’s still lightweight. This room will change at some point because we don’t love our couch, so this is a great placeholder for now!

Been loving this little purse so much! A couple things I would add to make it better, but still wouldn’t trade it! A great size and the color is 😍😍

#LTKmomlife

Had a meeting and got my hair cut/colored today and this is what I wore! 😍 obsessed with this bubble hem sweatshirt! Have worn it so many times in the last week 🙃 and these Nikes have already gotten so much wear since I got them! Love the brown 🤎

A great Free People look for less! Currently on Lightning deal! 🙌🏻 love how it cinches. Wearing a S! Definitely looks more coral in person (more similar to what it is online). Comes in TONS of colors if you want to get your HS colors (or not)!

These sweatpants are a couple of years old so I’m linking this years version. I have an XS in this pair!

And these ribbed long sleeve tees are my absolute favorite! I wear them all fall and winter long!

I’m not going to lie, this cabinet doesn’t change much throughout the year. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I love what I have in here and don’t feel the need to constantly rearrange.

My rules for styling shelves:
1) include greenery
2) layer in artwork
3) vary the height of items (could be through books, candles, etc)
4) I like to add something with texture or dimension like woven details, marble, or wood
5) vary the shape of the items—round, rectangular, wide, narrow—each shelf should have some variation and I try to make it balanced overall
5) vary the number of items in the shelves—you don’t want to have a lot on every shelf otherwise it can end up looking cluttered and overwhelming. Also, despite there being many glasses, it is the same type of item so it counts as one. Plus, the clear glasses in this case keep the space from looking overly styled.
6) include something with a nod to the season (here I used artwork and the book open to a page showcasing fall) somewhere throughout the shelves

I’m not quite ready to start adding pumpkins around the house, so I haven’t switched out the artichokes. I love the pop of color right now! This is also our bar cabinet so I included several different types of drinkware and some cocktail recipe books.

I honestly can’t tell you the last time I’ve been inside a Target and not just have been there for a quick second grabbing something we needed last minute! I wanted to go check out some of their fall decor and ended up grabbing a few things! Not going to lie though, their two main drops kind of fell flat for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I’ll try and share some of the things in store that I did like!

I can’t even with ALL of these. Just take me money 😍😍

Loving all these finds from Wayfair! The perfect fall palette 🤎🍂

Coffee tables at different price points, shapes, tones all from Wayfair!

It’s been a wee minute since I’ve had a non-rushed shopping trip at Target. Being able to stroll the aisles of Target with a coffee in hand is my love language 😍 Found some goodies and lots that was just meh. Will share more of what I found soon!

Love these shorts for my husband! They are really comfortable and great for lounging or casual wear. So many pretty colors, too! He’s 6’2” and wears the M.

#LTKMens #LTKActive

An easy, casual but elevated look! This sweater tank is old from Target so linking similar here. Wearing XS regular in pants.

#LTKootd #LTKdayinmylife #LTKgrwm

Grabbed these two new pieces from Old Navy and they are SO good! They are both from their rebranded activewear line “sport”. These pants look like workwear but are so comfortable and this adorable bubble hem sweatshirt would be so cute with leggings, too! Both come in multiple colors.

Wearing S in the sweatshirt and XS regular in the pants.

✨TAKE ME HOME✨

While there is still more work to be done and changes I want to make, we’ve transitioned our home to everything I crave—warm, layered, and lived-in over the last 7 years. The longer we are in our home, the more I am leaning in to slow, intentional design. Because let’s be honest, home takes time and she deserves all the patience and attention to detail 🫶🏻

If you’re looking for home interiors that are earthy, organic, layered, and collected, follow @liskaliving for more home inspiration.

✨DARLING WON’T YOU TAKE ME HOME✨

We’ve been in our home 7.5 years now. There’s still PLENTY more to do, but I love to look back on how far we’ve come, too 🫶🏻

Hi! I’m Anna. I’m a SAHM of two boys with a love for making my home aesthetically functional. 🙃 If you have an older home, believe in intentional design, or are looking for home styling inspiration, I hope you follow along @liskaliving 🫶🏻

Two of my most worn athleisure pieces! So comfy and I feel more put together wearing these than just my leggings and tanks!

#LTKActive #LTKmomlife #LTKootd

My most favorite pants that I want to wear on the daily!

#LTKmomlife #LTKootd

Kept the artichokes because I like the pop of green here, but will eventually change it over to some pumpkins. Not there yet, though! But these stems are new and 😍😍 I love them! Honestly might need to use these year round!

#LTKHome

A little fall styling in my living room. Slowly but surely transitioning to fall 🤎🍂

#LTKHome #LTKSeasonal

I think we’ve lost the plot. You all KNOW that I love to decorate my home and do projects, but those things will never outweigh the people in it and all the memories our house holds. However your home looks, the size of it, how old or new it is, it really doesn’t matter. The people are what make it home 🫶🏻 So when you’re feeling unsatisfied or frustrated with where you want the state of things to be, don’t lose sight of the heart of it all. Home is a feeling—not a place.

#LTKmomlife #LTKHome #LTKdayinmylife

This vase is from Hobby Lobby and the SKU is 2305548. Looks like it’s currently OOS online but you can check your local store!

These stems, however 😍😍 so gorgeous! Love, love, love the color of these! Honestly I would use these year round. There wasn’t much shedding of the floral part with these, but with this type of stem it’s not uncommon. Think the quality is pretty good on these specific ones!

#LTKHome #LTKSeasonal

I DIYed this wallpaper 3 years ago now and am still in love with it! I’m the only girl in our household so I wanted a space that was a little more feminine and thought this was a fun spot to do it!

BUT…I’m itching to do something more in this space. I have been thinking about how exactly I want it to look and what I might want to add for some time now. Haven’t wanted to rush into anything. But I think I have narrowed it down!
