I wanted to talk about this before I became pregnant (I’m 9 weeks in this pic, suffering from nausea 😭) and went MIA from posting — how to become a content creator, but at the same time… no one knows anything about you. Aka: how to keep your name off forums like Tattle. Sounds a bit counterproductive, I know — but it’s always been very intentional. I’ve been creating content since I was young, and one thing I promised myself early on was to keep my private life private. Maybe it’s the Asian upbringing, but I’ve always known there are some real weirdos out there. Hard pass. So, how do you become a content creator but still live a private life where nobody actually knows anything about you? It’s all about boundaries: ✨ Not everyone deserves a spot on your feed. Unless you’re a dating influencer, we don’t need to meet every ex (in Asian culture, boyfriends stay in the shadows until the marry-me/baby hard launch 💍). Some creators’ relationships are so public that half the internet already knows if they’ll last. And if you’re wondering why this all feels familiar, @chantayyjayy viral @voguemagazine piece offers a rather elegant explanation for the current boyfriend embarrassment epidemic. ✨ Don’t tell people exactly where you live (and please stop posting in real time). ✨ Keep your circle small — your real life isn’t a group chat. ✨ Have a separate private account for friends and family — not everyone deserves access to the people closest to you. ✨ Blur the background — both literally and metaphorically. ✨ Turn off location tagging — your followers don’t need a map to your favourite coffee shop. ✨ Stop posting the front of your house, your street, or your child’s nursery logo. ✨ And remember: once it’s online, it’s never really gone. The best creators stick to their niche and get all the best brand deals — while the algorithm still can’t figure out where they live. 💅🏽 Let me know if I’ve missed any online safety tips — it’s all about keeping women safe and smart online.
