Teasing 101 ✨ Fine-Hair Volume Tutorial

If your hair falls flat after teasing, the technique matters.

For this look, I used:

* A rat-tail comb for controlled teasing
* Color Wow Texas Hold’Em hairspray to lock in the tease
* A little time to let it set
* More hairspray to finish and hold everything in place

The key is controlled teasing instead of randomly backcombing the hair, then smoothing the surface once the volume is set.

FAKE FALL 🍂 | 5’0 GIRLY EDITION — Part 3

How do you make an outfit feel like fall when it’s still 90° outside? Change the color palette, not the footwear. 😉

These Universal Thread wide-leg jeans from Target are doing the heavy lifting here. They’re not technically petite, but with a heel they work beautifully on my 5’0 frame. They run big, so size down one size.

The knit top is an oldie but a goodie, and I added my Kendra Scott A necklace for a little something extra.

And yes, I went with open-toe Sam Edelman heels because we’re in the South and it’s still hot as Hades. 😂 No need to pretend it’s bootie weather yet.

Sometimes Fake Fall is just darker denim, a little knit texture, and calling it a day. 🤎

I shared a little peek on Instagram today of my “my hair is dirty and I need to get ready” situation… and this is the other way I love to revive it when I don’t have time (or don’t want) to wash it.

My quick dirty-hair refresh:

✨ K18 AirWash Dry Shampoo — this is what I’ve been reaching for when my roots need a refresh without adding a ton of buildup.

✨ Dyson + round brush attachment — I use this to smooth things out and bring the volume back. You absolutely do NOT need a Dyson for this, though! I linked a few more budget-friendly options below.

✨ Drybar Velcro Rollers — these are my secret weapon for getting some of that volume back at the crown and giving the hair a little more shape.

✨ Color Wow Style on Steroids — adds texture and helps give freshly revived hair some grip and body.

✨ Color Wow Texas Hold ’Em — my finishing hairspray when I want everything to actually stay put.

And yes… the outfit is just an Old Navy tank + jeans because sometimes the hair gets the main-character treatment while the outfit stays VERY casual. 😂

Fine hair girls: DON’T WASH IT. REVIVE IT. 🤍

When my fine, oily hair starts looking flat, I’d rather bring it back to life than wash and restyle it all over again.

My routine:

The key for me is product first, rollers second. That gives my fine hair something to hold onto instead of just hoping the rollers create volume on their own.

If your face-framing pieces never seem to fall quite right, this simple curling technique makes all the difference. I use a small curling iron, set each curl with clips while it cools, then finish with a lightweight texture spray for soft movement and lasting volume.
